Great sound when it worked

Dies a noisy death soon after the warranty expires

Has anyone who bought this sub NOT had a problem? I just found this thread and am amazed at the number of people who have the EXACT same problem. Helicopter noise and all. I think it's class-action lawsuit time.

Oh my god...its amazing how many people have the exact same problem. Mine blew up about a year ago. Fixed in a new capacitor from Radio Shack and then just last week, the exact same ta ta ta ta ta sound went off.

You might pick it up for free from angry owners. I fixed it on D-Day and "Saving Private Ryan" sounded great.

Capacitor C6 explodes. I would replace with 100 V 10uf capacitor, not the RS 272-999, widely accepted substitute.

It sounds great once I repaired it after a disgruntled friend gave it to me.

Very good sounding sub, but. . . . .

Zero reliability.

Nice sounding sub, for a 10". Failed once with "helicopter" sound. Repaired & again great sound. Failed again and gave up. Just glad I was home both times because failures extremely loud. Junked it and replaced it with a Klipsch KSW10. This is my third and last review of this sub.

Self destructs after the warranty is over

I have had a Psw d110 for 8 months now. One night I started smelling something. Then I heard something that sounded like a machine gun. When I got up and found out it was the sub, I pulled the plug from the wall. I am so glad I was home or else my house might of burned to the ground. I saw all the reviews here and told my class about it. I took the sub to my advanced electronic class. Are class needs some more of these subs. We are going to try to figure out the problems with this sub and tell JBL about this. If anyone is going to throw their blown one away, or if they want to help our class out, email me at Justinarmbruster02@hotmail.com. I am willing to pay shipping for these. Thanks, Justin

You can find my original review further down the list. In essence, my sub blew up like many others here. The good news? JBL--after my repeated pestering--repaired it for free. I have not had any problems since (knock on wood). I set the gentleman from JBL a gift certificate from Amazon to say thanks.

Mine never failed but I intend to implement all the new components to make ''er stomp like a monster. Thanks for the c-6 lead, this was the path to the solution. seems to put out decent lows

auto on off is hard to tell if stays on or off.

has lasted 2 years and went gunnysack. was told to throw away that JBL no longer putting out good products. PS. more to fix than paid for.
