Strength:

Crisp, power when I want it, great range (very very few 10" subs dive below 30 Hz like this one does), nice crossover on it too

Weakness:

None

First of all in response to all those ppl having problems with hearing it... MAKE SURE YOU PUT IT IN THE CORNER! and don't put it on carpet, put it on something solid too, carpet just absorbs too much. Another key element: spend the money on a nice sub cable!!! I even tried for myself the difference from cheap to the expensive stuff I bought (I bought acoustic research cable (comperable quality in sub cable to Monster, but a lot cheaper)). With the cheap stuff, the sound was crap, and would even sometimes shut off during quiet scenes b/c not enough of a signal was making it thru. I popped in the good stuff and wow, it got twice as loud and ten times as clear.

So now that I'm done repeating the instruction manual to you, I'll explain some of the other things I found with this.

For a 10" sub this is an incredible bargain. I invite you to go online and check out some decible ratings on this thing and compare it to other subs, this thing absolutly kills anything in its price class and beats most in much higher price classes. I even found it to be better than some brand name 15" subs! I'm annoyed when ppl complain that it doesn't fill a big room, although it is a powerful 10", it's still a 10", it's not designed to fill a big room. I now just love to watch movies with this thing in my arsenal, I hear things I didn't hear before, music sounds better. I watched jurrasic park, with this sub I could hear that T-Rex coming a long way away and it shakes my couch. Certainly a pleasure. :)
As for loudness? let me put it this way, people two units over from me can hear every thump coming out of my room even when I'm not cranking it up, there are times when I need to turn it down! I havn't seen what kind of receivers ppl are using that are having problems with fuses, but I have a Sony 444ES reciever (top of the line) and with its sub out I think I have a nice conditioned signal going out. I have a feeling that the ppl with fuse problems actually don't have good reveivers sending out a nice signal. With the rest of my speakers in stereo mode, I can make the music louder than my ears can stand (and I go to raves) and I havn't had any power problems whatsoever (*knock on wood*)

After I played around with the tuning of it and I have my computer hooked up to the receiver that I can produce pure tones, I was doing sub tests. at around 60 Hz (don't remember exact number, it was a goofy fraction) I was able to get everything metal in my room to resonate (keys shaking on my desk).

So to sumarize, this thing has Plenty of power, you just have to set the thing up right, it took me a few hours to get it just so exactly the way I like it. But 95% of the battle was just hooking it up to a good reciever with good cable and putting it in the corner. The other 5%(about 1 hr 45 mins of that 2 hrs)? hmm my pickiness :)

This sub is great. It feels my 17x21 living room with nice deep crisp bass. I Have KSB1.1 in front and surrounds and a KSC-C1 Center channel. Klipsch rocks and rolls!

Strength:

Nice clean crisp bass. Plenty of controls

Weakness:

Auto "on" doesn't always come on

This sub perfectly matches the Klipsch Quintet system. I had the unfortunate experience of having a BU120 for a week before the KSW10 came in. I have to admit that the sub is cranked up to full volume, but this is perfect for the system. When listening to music and movies this sub really cranks out the power. Sure the 12" might have more power but I give myself a slap when I think about it, I sure don't need it! I'm very happy with this sub. Highly reccomended!!!

Strength:

not a bad performer for 300 bucks

Weakness:

very sensitive to room placement.

After owning this sub for a year now I can honestly say that it was a really good buy. It's not a first rate performer, nor do I expect it was meant to be. Comparing this sub to a Paradigm PS1200 is like comparing a honda to a BMW, so all you people out there making comparisons, why don't you try to keep it within reason. (This doesn't mean that this sub is lacking anything. Just be fair.)The first thing I noticed about the unit is that it takes a while to find a good location. FYI: THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SUBWOOFERS!! do not be dismayed if you plug it in, crank it up, and nothing spectacular happens. Just grab a sixpack of beer, turn on some tunes, and walk around the living room experimenting with it's location.I will not get into the reason why subwoofer placement is important, but just take my word for it. Once I found a place for it, it thummped along just great. Like I said, It isn't a first rate performer, so don't expect anything jaw dropping. It's fairly efficent down to about 35 hz (decent for most casual music listeners) and can keep things under control at modest volume levels. It tends to sound a bit loose when I'm listening to more intricate music at higher
listening levels, but for rock and roll, rap music, and almost all other mainstream music, this sub can shake.Bigtime. For home theater, you can rely on this sub to hold it's own. It can pump out quite a bit of sound for it's relatively small amp (55 watts).Just make sure you take the time to adjust all the setting, believe me, the sound you wind up with is worth the effort. When you dial this sub in properly, it really cooks.

Strength:

Nice tight sound.

Weakness:

None that I can tell.

I am using this sub for HT and music listening (jazz, some rock & classical). Unfortunately, I am using a pro logic receiver without a dedicated subwoofer line out. Still, this sub rocks. I do think placement is crucial with this unit. I've seen reveiws here that bash this sub but I think they must be using it in a really large room or just aren't placing it properly. I've been playing around with the location and finally decided on placing it behind my futon towards the corner of the room. It sits on carpet and has approx. 2' between the back of the futon and the wall and the tube faces the corner again about 2' from the corner of the room.

I am very pleased so far. Nice tight sounding bass, no distortion at all!

I have noticed that with classical music it seems to take away some of the highs from the main speakers but I'm not sure if this is a shortcoming of the way I have it hooked up (I have the sub connected to the right front speaker.

Jazz sounds great, rock sounds great.

I'll post an update after I get my new receiver.

Very Tight Bass, great price

Weakness:

Placement sensitive

Clean tight Bass. Sounds great. I have a Sony str-dte835 reciever with Klipsch KSB 3.1s for my mains and rears, and the Klipsch KSC-1 as a center speaker. The Volume control, High Pass freq. adjustment and phase shift (180 out) switch allow the user to tweak it to taste. I placed it along a wall and it sounded pretty good but reached perfection in the corner (as per the manual). So it is nessesary to place the Sub in the corner to get the most out of it. I put it in the middle of the room and it just about went quite (wierd considering how great it sounds in the corner) I have herd the KSW-12 and it deserves the excelelnt rating it gets on this site but I don't feel the least bit cheated with the KSW-10. I must confess I got the KSW-10 for $149.95 though. If you read some of the bad reviews and listened to the KSW-10 in my house you would wonder what to #$%* they are talking about. It has plenty of volume for the 12' by 24' room I live in. It can still shake the room or send out a heart stopping thud. Great sub. Note: If money is not an issue you can't beat the KSW-12.

Strength:

Small footprint, raised off floor

Weakness:

Not a 12" sub

How is it that this sub warrants a bunch of one-star reviews and the KSW-12 has 21 five-star reviews (highest rated speaker on this site). I have this sub and think it works quite well and produces nice bottom end. Maybe if you don't hook it up to sh*t, then you won't think it sucks. 5 stars to offset all the one-stars, otherwise 4 stars.

Strength:

None that I heard.

Weakness:

Muddy bass that couldn't even fill a tiny demo room.

I had already set my mind on two sets of Klipsch KSB1.1 monitors and a SC1 center channel also from Klipsch to make my good, but cheap home theater audio setup to keep me content until I graduate from University. All I had left to do was compare a few subs with them. I'am so glad I let a friend and the sales man talk me into demoing the Paradigm subs instead of just trusting that since the monitors and center rock, the sub would too (which would have been my first really big audio purchase mistake). The KSW10 couldn't produce defined room filling bass. More than half the time I was getting more bass from the monitors than the sub. Even with a tiny room that was only about 14 feet by 10 feet and the sub at max, it was like it almost wasn't there. The bass that did come out of it wasn't that bad, but the PDR10 was better and whats the point of buying a sub if it doesn't fill out your low range. Also the PDR10 was about $50 cheaper than the KSW10 and it sounded about 50 times better. If you are looking at the KSW10 don't, go look at Paradigm or something else. However, do look at the Klipsch towers and Synergy monitors, they rock. Keep in mind I only demoed the KSW10 in store to decide on a purchase, but it was also an easy descision. No way was I going to take home a KSW10. I thought the other reviews on this page were exagerating until I heard the thing for myself.

This speaker offer balance to smaller Klipsch speakers. As such when paired with bookshelf speakers the system has a quality that match my Mcintosh XR-1051's.
The speaker have to be matched for the size and shape of room to reach full potential. Likewise, these do not shine with heavy metal bass. Rather, their strength is that they add an imperceptible fullness to speakers with good mid and high ranges but suffer from a weakeness in the low ones.
