Strength:

Fits my listening area perfectly in size and performance

Weakness:

Auto-on doesn't always work. Seems like this is a problem that others have had as well. What happened to my manual? There was none in the box and I had to download it from the Klipsch website.

Having previously used Infinity Q-a speakers in my old 2 channel system, I'm very satisfied with the low-end I'm getting from this sub.

Set-up was easy enough. I simply ran a Monster sub cable from the sub-out on my receiver to the LFE-in on the sub.

It took a little tweaking to get the placement, level and crossover right, but it's a must-do if you want to get the bass you're buying a subwoofer for.

I'm now ready to upgrade my current surrounds and add a center channel. These may be Klipsch as well, but I'm a little disappointed with the "auto-on" feature and may go with Polk or Paradigm if the sound is right.

I'm currently also using the following:

Yamaha RX-V496 receiver 70wX5 channels (more than enough in my listening room)
Toshiba 1600 DVD player. (at $199 it's hard to beat)
Toshiba 27" TV (to be upgraded to Sony WEGA in the not-too-distant future)
Panasonic VHS Hi-Fi VCR (still have quite a few tapes)
AR Edge surrounds (not bad for the money, but don't have the transparency I'd like.)

I know that I probably overpaid for this sub, but it does everything I'd want it to do.

Hey, Klipsch....whassup with the "auto-on" problem? One of the reasons I bought this speaker was for your "legendary" quality.

Strength:

good price, pretty small fits anywhere.

Weakness:

does not put out that much base, sometimes it will not auto detect the signal when the reciever is turned on.

I think this sub is pretty good except for the fact that I can not hear that the unit is actually on. I can notice it at times and at times I cant. I play only music, no DVD player or tv. I have been playing with the placement of the unit, I have placed it about 3 feet from the speakers, dont have very much room to play with. The rest of the system is a Yamaha RX-V 2095, Sony CA 80es cd player, and Klipsch KLF-20's, (These speakers ROCK!!!). Still will keep playing with it, but I think these speakers over power that sub way to much already. Might go with the Klipsch KSW 12 or the Energy E:XL-S12. The Engery sub is also a nice one, it is also cheaper than the Klipsch KSW 15.

Strength:

Great Low Bass (for a small room)

Weakness:

Cost a little high, very placement sensitive.

I have owned this sub now for almost two years and have really enjoyed it. It took a few months to really get it in the right location in my 17 x 25 room. Playing with the right volume and low pass took a while, but it has more than enough bass to shake my listening position. The only way to fill my room with "some bass" was to have it up front in the 2 o'clock position in my listening room. But that was not enough for the entire room, so now I have it presently in the corner behind my L couch and it turns the whole corner into a rumble seat. Unfortunately it does not do the same for the rest of the room. I just ordered the KSW-15 from J & R for the rest of the room (and for the previous position of the KSW-10) and really look forward to hooking it up in a couple of days. For my large room, both bad boys working together should be plenty! For a small room the KSW-10 is great. All the reviews I read about it not having much bass are rediculous. Get it in the right spot and take the time to adjust it's setting and you'll have great room filling bass (for a small room). Dont' be afraid to turn it up! This little bad boy can take it well! Crank up U-571, The Matrix, and Armageddon and be blown away. If you budget does not allow for a bigger sub and pricetag than I highly recommend the KSW-10! I give it 4 of 5. A 5 would have to be a bigger sub. Klipsch is the way to go!

Strength:

Good Bass

Weakness:

not sure on connection

It seems like a great subwoofer, but i have a question, My receiver is the Denon AVR-3801, and I am connecting the subwoofer to the pre-out subwoofer jack on the back of my receiver(red jack subwoofer) using monster cable subwoofer line. What jack do I connect it to on the KSW-10 subwoofer? The R, or the L/LFE? If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

Strength:

Adds powerful bass to even the most diminished sounds

Weakness:

None that I've discovered

This subwoofer pleased me when I first stepped in the sound room at my local good guys. I then hooked up on this web site and read a few of the reviews which most were pleasing. What I think some of the one-star review people on here don't know (and for those who bought there's on the net) is that there a lot of Klipsch imitators out there, and these one star review people may not have gotten a real Klipsch product. Because any Klipsch product does not perform diminishingly, or poor. I have exhaustedly tested this sub, and if you set the phase correctly for where it is in your room and set the crossover correctly, this subwoofer will perform. It is my belief that there is no need for a 12" subwoofer in an apartment size, or moderate size room. This subwoofer is very tunable, very pleasing to look at, and performs better than the reason I bought for when I was in the store. I am truly pleased. I think some people expect way too much from some products, expecting Sunfire performance from a $350 subwoofer. These people may need to do a little reading. I run this sub with KSB 3.1 fronts, SC-1 center, and SS-1 rears with an Onkyo TX-DS575. And what some people said about using the right cable's instead of dental floss, there is definite truth in that statement.

Strength:

looks, size, sound

Weakness:

none

I purchased this sub from a local retailer who was clearing out all in store demo's, got it for $350 Cdn. Brought it home and it was already broken in and it sounded great. I must admit that the first half of the volume control does nothing. I did read all of the reviews on it before I bought it and was considering the 12 inch, but I think that a sub should be heard and not seen. The 12 inch sub looked like a coffee table. I would highly recommend this sub, it delivers clean tight bass, and does not distort like some of the other reviewers think...maybe they should use a good subwoofer cable instead of "dental floss" speaker cable. I give this sub 5 stars.

Strength:

Small, easy to place, indicator light on front

Weakness:

Under-powered

I used the KSW10 to complement my KG4's and CS1 center channel. I'm using a Yamaha RX-V96 amp. At full volume and my sub gain set at maximum, I still had to crank it to get any performance from this sub. In all fairness to klipsch, the construction and craftsmanship of this sub is excellent. I gave it a week and had to bring it back. Now I've got an Axiom 10" and it is exactly what the system needed. It has some serious throws for a little sub and makes the hair on your legs move from 5 feet away.

If it's a blended bass you're looking for in a small room, this sub may be for you. I've heard that it's beneficial to fire it at something solid (something other than carpet), but didn't try it personally.

I think the sub is rated at 225 watts - I think that's stretching it a bit. I'd be curious to hear the 12 and 15.

Other than that, I still think Klipsch makes a damn good speaker. I've had my kg4's for 11 years and they only improve with age.

Strength:

cost good tight bass

Weakness:

distorts at high vol.

I bought a Def Tch 80 as my first choice but found that the darn thing would not turn itself on with my Yamaha Rec. I heard there was a fix for this issue but that would require opening it up and fixing it. I didn't pay 300 bones for something that needed to be fixed. I took It back and picked up the Klipsch. I wanted the 12 but that is just too big for an apartment. The openings of Private Ryan and Apocolypse Now are outstanding. I am very pleased with this piece of equipment, even though the Def Tech. was better. I just can't wait to upgrade when I buy my own home. Then the fun will start.

Strength:

-mine works in complete contrast to the negative reviews here.
-it's not some monolithic piece of audio furniture

Weakness:

-it apparently (referring to some reviews posted here) isn't
loved by all who've tried it.

I just added this sub to a recently purchased Yamaha home theater/audio system. I spent a few days listening while placing the KSW 10 in different locations around the room.
This subwoofer is very placement sensitive. It's performance varied greatly until I found it's primo location in my listening room. Sitting in a hard corner firing down onto a hard surface-close to my main speakers-with the low pass and phase properly adjusted, this baby delivers, even at very low volume. I love it.
