Strength:

Rich Resonating Bassss!!

Weakness:

I have had this subwoofer for over month now. I am pleased with it.The woofer works the BEST with music. It works well with movies as well. The woofer worked well with the DTS cd's I have. For any Dolby Digital or DTS movies the woofer needs to be turned down. My reciever can control it with a remmote, so I have not had a problem with that. I have heard no buzzing what so ever. With some sound effects I can pump up the woofer to the point were it might be mistaken for an earthquake.Overall the woofer is well worth the money, and better than the competition for the same price. I got it from www.cyberteria.com for $349 plus shipping - $23.00.

Strength:

Unbelievably tight bass. Shakes the house and the neighbors.

Weakness:

Have not found one yet

Just purchased my KSW12 from Vanns.com. I payed 449.99 with free two day air shipping and they gave me a free Monster subwoofer cable(no handling fees either..unlike other companies). Excellent company to deal with and they defintely know what they are talking about. Highly recommended E-tailer. This 12" subwoofer has put all other units I have owned to shame, the bass is distortion free and very tight. If you want a sub that will sound great at both low and high levels this is the one!!!!

Strength:

musicality

Weakness:

can't keep up

had the Audiosource for awhile, wanted something smaller. The DCM was rather poor. The KSW12 sounds much better than either for music. Beautiful sounding at most volumes and frequencies. Unfortunately, when I play my crappy-but-fun bass CDs, the Klipsch can't keep up with high volumes and low techno bass. There is a gasping/sputtering sound from the single port, just like cheaper subs I've listened to. The Audiosource didn't have this problem, as it had two ports and achieved low (<30hz) frequencies much more easily. But the KSW12 sounds wonderful, is worth it, and I'm keeping it. It is great for most music, I just can't listen to my fun bass at high-volumes.

Strength:

Tight,Accurate Bass/Fairly Compact Size

Weakness:

Needed to add Monster Sub Cable to bring out the best sound

Bought the ksw-12/Denon 3300 to replace sony str-de835/Yamaha yst-sw80 combo. Got home, hooked everything up,turned on,put in a cd and was ready to rock !! I was DISAPPOINTED with what I heard !! The bass was weak compared to my 835/sw80 !! All connections re-checked and re-read the manual. Added a Y connect to the sub and tried again. Better but not as good as it should be (I hope!!). When I was at the store the sales rep said I should get a MonsterCable sub connect. I said naw as I had good results with a cheapo for my Yamaha. Back to the store and plopped down $30. for a cable. Back home/connect and YEE HAW !! The bass was tight and punchy. Much cleaner than my sw80. Don't confuse boominess with real bass !!! Clean and powerful when need be. This was well worth the $$ I paid(cheap). Cannot go wrong with this sub in small/medium sized rooms. My room is 20x16 feet and the ksw-12 works wonderful. I also became a believer in the MonsterCable Sub connect. It made a DRASTIC difference in sub performance. Try it out - if not happy just return it.

Strength:

Strong tight bass. Great bass for the dollar.

Weakness:

None yet.

Bought a DSM 100 watt as a loaner from Circuit City in the interim. Its weak compared to the KSW-12. Bass was real distorted at high volumes. Comparatively, KSW-12 offers 440 watts at just $50 more. And the bass is crisp, clean, and solid. Very satisfied so far. But have only used for about 16 hrs of play time. So kind of my 1st impression. Will post more thorough review at later time.

Strength:

Deep tight base, Klipsch quality

Weakness:

none

I would like to think everyone for their honest post on this and other items. I have built a decent home theater system using this website. As for the KSW-12 WOW - it is awsome, I did not know base could sound this tight and clean. I have tried a few others as stated above but found the Klipsch to be far superior in built quality and sound. I have mine placed 12" from a corner and the bass vibrates everything in the room. It can be a little overpowering for music but I can control the output with the Yamaha HTR-5150 sub output level. The volume knob stay at 6 out of 11 for tv reception, turned down a few db on the receiver for DVD, and turned down a few more DB for music. This sub was purchased at a great price from www.world-exchange.com. This will round out any home theater system. It really sounds great with my Yamaha receiver, Klipsch SB-2 mains, Klipsch SC-1 center, Bose 100's for the rear and a Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD Player. A Great Investment. I have as much bass as I will ever need and with no bottoming out or clipping. WAY TO GO KLIPSCH.

Strength:

Room-shaking bass, relatively small size, auto-off switch, price

Weakness:

A basic function remote would make it absolutely perfect

A decade ago when I purchased my first Hi-Fi VCR and was able to hear movies with stereo separation, I thought that was pretty damn cool. Then, a few years back, when I bought a Dolby Surround Receiver, center and rear speakers, I was equally blown away. A DVD player I got last year made me think it just didn't get any better. Then I got this KSW-12 and, let me tell you, this unit will tranform any mid-priced system into a fantastic home theater set-up. I use Polk Audio mains, center and rear-surrounds but wasn't impressed by their subs when a friend, who I had turned on to Polks, recommended the Klipsch KSW-12. I have a mid-priced system: Yamaha V-393 Receiver, Denon DVD-3000 Player, Sony CDP-335 Changer and the aforementioned Polks (8T's, 4R's and a CS 202), and it has made all the difference in the world. As much as I love my Polks (I've owned them for fifteen years) they just aren't able to provide me with the deep bass I had been seeking. This unit has done that and then some, my storm windows rattle now and my neighbors dislike me. Though my primary reason for purchasing the sub was for the home-theater application, it has also made me go back and listen to certain albums and I'm hearing some of them as if it were the first time. This is a top-notch sub at a great price ($355 at American in Milwaukee) and if you're at all on the fence as to whether or not you should add a sub to your system, do so, and give this unit a listen. Highly recommended!!

Wow! What can I say...I was torn between the KSW-10 and the 12 but after listening to both on two different occasions paired with the awesome Klipsch Quintets and reading the reviews here I purchased the KSW-12 from Vanns.com for $335. Excellent dealer and excellent price. After living with this sub for several months, I can truly say it deserves 5 stars. DVD movies sound incredible with excellent punch and tons of superlow rumbling.

My room dimensions are 15'x 15' with 14' ceiling. Don't believe it when people say subwoofer placement is not critical. I could not believe the difference it made putting it in the back corner of the room behind a chair. Bass volume and depth increased as if I had turned up the volume from 3-6. The key is to experiment with placement in your room. Highly recommended. The 40+ 5 star reviews speak for themselves.

Strength:

Easy to set up,blends well with music

Weakness:

No real punch for movies

This sub blends vary well with music but when adjusted for music it lacks punch for movies. My old JBL really rocked the house when watching action dvd movies as well as the Velodyne did. When i got the KSW 12 and after spending a great deal of time setting it up i just felt something was missing and i was'nt completly satisfied with it so after 3 weeks i took it back while i could still get my money back. However if you were able to get this sub for under $350 it can't be beat for that price. But i feel it's not worth retail of $449 that i paid.I'm going to be getting the Velodyne ct 120 since i was happy with my old one.

Incredible performance for modest price

This was the first subwoofer I purchased ever, and I'm glad I did. After considering several candidates from reviews posted at this site, I auditioned the KSW12 and was quite impressed with its capability, features, and price. I don't belive there is a better unit out there for the money.
