Strength:

Great, articulate bass sound
Flexible settings, solid build
Outstanding value

Weakness:

non-standard power fuse- difficult to find replacment

Having decent bass response from my JBL L-5 fronts, I wasn't 100% sure I needed a sub. It took me a little while to get to bass heaven. My first KSW-12 kept blowing fuses and had to go back. I've finally got it properly positioned and set up with Monster sub y-Cable. It was worth the wait. This sub adds a completely new, "live" dimension to movies and music. It reaches down for the deepest bass-guitar notes without being boomy or overbearing. I watched "The Patriot" on DVD and felt like the artilliary was landing in my family room! Thanks to this site for leading me to this sub - the reviews are right-on.

Strength:

Power to spare. Will shake the dishes in the kitchen.

Weakness:

Will shake the dishes in the kitchen. Fantastic for home theater. Not totally awesome with music. Home theater is a 10 where music is rated an 8.

Ive never had a sub before for my house. Ive had many in vehicles. My 1st problem was that I had my receiver on front large. Setting it to front small turned on the BASS to my sub. This thing will bring down the roof rafters in the movie Saving Private Ryan.
As for music....its not as tight as im used too in my car. However dont let this deter you from getting it. Im only saying its not as good as home theater.

Deep Bass, Price, Auto-on/off switch

I just purchased my KSW12 after comparing it with some other subs in the same price range. I hooked it up to my home theater over the weekend and WOW! The bass just shakes the entire house, and my biggest problem now is keeping the pictures up on the wall. When I go upstairs I can feel the entire floor shaking.

The down firing bass is enough to crack the foundation. I have mine corner loaded, frequency set to 100hz, volume set to 6 and it sounds great! With the addition of the KSW12 it has made the sound complete.

I have to give the KSW12 5 Stars. Give it a try you'll be glad you did!

This Sub is quite good considering I only paid $300 for it.
At this price, it's the best. If one gonna spend $500 which this sub is retail for, get either Hsu VTF2 or Paradigm PS1000. I listened to these three Subs in the same room and using the same source(low bass test CD down to the 20Hz) and this KSW-12 can't keep up with the others. Of course I won't listen to this CD all the time plus I only gonna use this sub for the surround channel only and it rocks. I end up bought two KSW12 and added for the two surrounds, set my surround to "large" and it shakes my whole house with my Hsu TN1220 as the .1 LFE channel. I really recommend setting the surround to "Large" if one has the speakers capable of handling full range. this in fact makes a HUGE difference in my Home theater system. This KSW12 sub sounds alot better now after fully broken-in.

Strength:

Good tight, clean bass for music. Easy placement with downfiring woofer - will not betray it's position.

Weakness:

? - none found yet.

I recently purchased this sub based solely off the reviews on this site and I must say that I am NOT dissappointed! This sub puts out good tight, clean bass for music and massive volumes that rock the house for HT. Let me give you an example...My father-in-law came over the other night right after we started playing "The Deep Blue Sea" on DVD. He sat down at the dining table with the wife in the adjacent room. When the shark came up under the deck of the catamaran, he came 3 feet out of his seat exclaiming all the way "What the Hell was that!!!" as the floor shook. Keep in mind I had the volume on my Sony DB930 set at 3 with the sub volume set for listening to music! All I can say is THIS SUB ROCKS!!! I'm sure there are better subs out there, but for the money, you'd have a hard time finding one.

Folks, I have to tell you that considering the price range of these babies, there is no comparison, I tested three subs, them being: 1) Boston Acoustic 2)NHT and Velodyne and believe me that the Klipsch sub outperformed all of these by a margin. Acoustically, blends in beautifully with my Cerwin Vega VS series (3 way), I am very happy and my ears are thanking me for it. Try these out and you're never look at movies or listen to music the same way again. A definite 5 Stars. BEWARE: IF YOU LIVE IN APARTMENT YOU SHOULD START PACKING!!!

Strength:

Nice loud, full bass. Even as impressive at softer volumes.

Weakness:

I have found none.

Review 44 and still going strong! This sub not only delivers great high volume bass that fills the air, but is tame enough to sound very delicate at low volumes. You cant see the sound, its seems to come from everywhere..a great sub!

It took about a week to get the setting to the optimal place. Bought this with the klipsch rf3 package. The whole systmen rocks. Didn't like the sound of def tech. The paradigm was good but the speakers weren't as clear and crisp as the klipsch.

Strength:

Pounding, accurate bass

This sub has adaquate power to move you when watching movies. When listening to music, you will need to turn the bass down as it will easily saturate a room with bass.

Strength:

Fits anywhere in the room. Very easy to set-up.

Weakness:

None so far.

I auditioned many subwoofers in the 500.00 price range and nothing compares to the awesome bass the Klipsch SW12 delivers. I am currently running a Kenwood VR309 digital receiver, and a Pioneer 525 DVD player. All my speakers are Klipcsh. 3.1's for the front, 1.1's for the rears and the Klipsch css1 center. The SW12 kicked my system over the edge. Movies and music jump to life. You actually become and feel the action on the screen. I purchased all the speakers from my local retailer who was having a sale on all 1999 models. I paid $369.00. I orginally placed an order with TATUM ELECTRONICS in Arlington, Texas. Although the price was ok at $321.00 their customer service is brutal. After waiting 1 month and 6 unanswered phone calls and several ignored e-mails I cancelled my order (hopefully) no one at Tatum will return my calls. Very suspcious website. BEWARE, trust me BEWARE. You'll end up in a voice mail loop with no human contact. Very frustrating. Please check with the Better Business Bureau in Fort Worth Texas before ordering. You'll see what I'm talking about.
