Strength:
Deep bass, Controls
Weakness:
Output very dependant on subs location and how its hooked up. I love this sub. It took around 3 months to find the ideal location in my HT. Ended up sounding the best next to my couch about 8" from the wall. The sub sounded horrible in the corner of my listen area. The crossover setting is very important, I found out the lower you can set the better(I run mine with KG 4.2 mains)I have mine crossed over at 50 Hz. After playing around with many different ways of hooking this bad boy up I ended up with the sub out on the reciever going to the R/L inputs on the sub. For HT use the sub rocks, tight clean bass. Strength:
powerful bass, dedicated LFE input
Weakness:
none for the price What an improvement over Radio Shack's RCA sub-woofer (12 inch 200 watt). Klipsch goes much lower( 24 hz compared to RCA's 36hz) and with much more authority. Radio Shack's was on sale for $299. Do yourself a favor- go to J and R and get the Klipsch KSW-15 for a hundred something more. Strength:
Great movie prowess, thunderous room filling bass.
Weakness:
A beat behind on driving music, protection circuitry helps out too often for such a large sub. Very picky about where you place it. I Purchased this sub in hopes of attaining great bang for the buck. Im so far quite pleased with the sub regarding movies, however music is another story. When the volume is turned up to the One O' clock position, and a steady low bass line is applied the sub cuts off. Granted a subwoofer can only take so much signal before it self destructs, I was dissapointed in the lack of volume it produced on the low end for such a large sub. I am well aware that the unit is equipped with protection circuitry, however when it works it simply cuts the sound output alltogether, rather than trimming it. I am quite new to the audio arena as I am only 19, but surely there are subs in existence that can give this one a run for its money in terms of musicality and low end bass response.
