Strength:

Well balanced sub, good low end with quick mid bass attack

Weakness:

none for this price range

It is a well balanced sub. Balance in low end and mid bass range as well as balanced for both HT setup and music.

This is my third sub, I will sattle for MX125 for my current configuration. Yes, I have heard better sub, but with astronomical price.

My configuration consist of Denon AVC-A1D and Sonus Faber Grand Piano for main speakers. Both music and HT it as good as it gets. HT setup, MX125 produce solid low frequency effect. Though I did experienced bottom out if you push it too hard, but it is above reference level already (105db).

Sonically, I love its integration with the rest of my gear, though I seldom use the sub when I listen to music. Simply put this sub is also "musical" in audio setup.

A well balance sub...

I was exited to purchase the M&K V-125 for my first serious sub for HT. I coupled it with my KLF 10's and I was set for the adrenaline surge! To my disappointment I was required to boost the LFE on my receiver to +10dB and turn the gain up to maximum on the sub to get a strong balance! Music required less, but what I considered excessive boosting. I promptly returned my V-125 to the local audio store and started shopping on-line for an upgrade. Uncle stereo came to the rescue with a great price for the M&K MX-125, only $129 more! And to my delight and satisfaction the sub bass was strong with minimal boost. The sound is strong and tight, and the vibration is intense with the appropriate signal. This sub will stay with me a long time! Oh no! this may be my strongest link in the HT chain. The fever begins!

Strength:

Great sound, Good build quality, Deep strong base, Bypass option.

Weakness:

Window shake (just kidding!), Not available in gloss finish.

Very nice! Matches in with my system well. Am running it with the MK 750THX select speaker package. Decided to go for the push-pull driver configuration rather than a single driver model (side by side comparison).
Like the idea of the Bypass switch which uses the receivers low pass filter (150THX model does not have this feature).
I have not bothered with the subs low pass filter, am running a yamaha 2095 reciever and all base on this model is feed to the sub below 90HTZ.
Price was high $2500 Australian and am told that the price will be rising in Australia by 25% after November 1st!
3 stars for value in Australia, 5 for sound.

Thanks for the reviews that helped me make the right decision.

Strength:

Authoritative, clean, controlled bass, build quality, brand name

Weakness:

Slightly "less superior" on music in my setup, but still better than it should be.

I have lived with this treat of a sub for a year now and am only disappointed that I can't fire it up more often. My wife and kids don't like it when the walls shake while they try to sleep, and this sub demands to be ridden hard . . . very hard.

I have tried a couple other subs including a smaller M&K, a bigger M&K, a top of the Circuit City line Velodyne and a couple others along the way.

Well, this baby is the real deal and that's my story and I am sticking to it!

Strength:

Tight, fast, and very musical

Weakness:

None

I can't imagine needing anything else. This sub does it all. Tight, fast response is great for music; the depth and impact is more than enough for home theater. This sub is not as placement sensitive as others; it is very hard to locate. All in all a great performer, very tough to beat.

Strength:

Excellent for music and HT; tight, quick bass.

Weakness:

Size might limit placement options for some.

I can't believe the last reviewer killed the string of perfect 5's for this sub based on the assertion that it is not good for music. I would speculate that placement is the problem, as others have commented that proper placement for this sub requires some experimentation. In fact, I continue to be amazed at how "musical" the sub is, and echo the comments of others in this regard. I have tried the sub on a variety of music, including rock, jazz, classical, and vocals, and find that it performs well across the board. The bass is crip, clean and tight, yet not overbearing or boomy. On certain pieces where low frequency string instruments predominate, it sounds like you are right next to the instrument.

At the same time, this sub is great for home theater. When it kicks in on a movie you've never seen before and don't know where the bass is going to be, you can get knocked right out of your seat. I'm sure there are subs that go lower (and are much bigger), and I'm sure you can get more for a lot more money, but in this price range, I would agree with the other reviewers that this is truly an excellent sub. It also has pretty good aesthetics too, which can be important to you know who.

Strength:

Handles most anything with finesse, yet can be super powerful. Performs equally well for HT and music

Weakness:

None

This sub can do it all. It never fails to put a huge smile on my face, when I'm alone that is. When my better half is listening and our hair is blown back by an explosion, I look over at her like a puppy that tinkled on the carpet. It's true, just experiment with placement and this sub will keep you extremely happy for movies and music. I liked it so much, I bought a second and have them stacked on top of one another. WOW! It is pretty expensive at this price point but holds it's own in this class. Bottom line, you won't regret it.
