Strength:

Tight, clean accurate bass

Weakness:

Give me time I'll probably find one!

After much research I finally settled on the PDR 10. At first my concerns where that this subwoofer might not provide the performance I'm looking for, possibly a PS 1000 was more to my liking. After a generous upgrade offer from HIFI2000, I decided to start with the PDR10.
Equipment
Yamaha RX V690
Studio Lab 301 drivers
Centre channel and surrounds Paradigm
Room dynamics, 20x12 with 9 foot ceilings and open at one end to staircase.
I knew when buying the Studio Labs several years ago that I was buying for the crisp highs not the bottom end, I also knew this could be added later. I survived with a Studio Lab passive Subwoofer for several years but it never provided the performance I was looking for. I all respect I wasn,t feeding it the power it needed to do a good job. Enter Paradigm PDR 10, WOW, the reviews on this site where for the most part dead accurate. Tight, fast bass not overpowering or boomy just acrrurate. If you're looking to rattle windows and crack the plaster look at the PS 1000.
After warming up the electro mechanicals I tried a couple reference tunes.
_AC/DC _Hells Bells__ the drum notes after the bells did in fact rattle the pictures on the wall at a moderate sound level (3 on the amp) Real impact!!!

__Rush__Tom Sawyer___Neil was in my living room performing the drum solos, enough said!!

__Genesis, Trick of the Tail/__Dancing on a volcano____ The synthetic bass on this number I've never heard as accurate before.
After those hard tunes some mellow blues and just as accurate. I found after a couple of hours od heavy bass the speakers needed less power to drive them, consequently I kept turning down the adjustment

After that I spent the rest of the weekend reintroducing myself to some old rock classics and some bass I'd never heard before!

Strength:

Clean, fast and accurate bass. Extremely good value for money. Great for home theatre and music.

Weakness:

None.

The PDR-10 is one of the quickest powered subs I have heard to date. Paradigm have produced a unit that will easily handle anything that you want to throw at it and handle it well. It can effortlessly produce a wide range of bass tones and is certainly not a one tone wonder. I have heard some subs that shout out to you, "I'm a bass - hear me boom". The PDR-10 is a little more subtle and provides a more accurate and palettable listening experience. Don't get me wrong, the PDR-10 will rattle the windows and crack the plaster along with the best, I'm just saying that sometimes you need tones, not booms. Now lets talk price. Don't believe the myth that the best performing subs carry the biggest price tag. I paid $799 NZ for this speaker and it is the cheapest 100 watt powered sub available here, although a little hard to source. I went and listened to some subs in the $1500-2000 price range and the paradigm ate them for breakfast. The PDR-10 is certainly worth considering if you want a good 100 watt powered sub at a reasonable price.

Strength:

Small footprint big sound!!

Weakness:

none so far

I picked this up after doing some pretty good listening test and review reading on the PDR-10. I listened to the PDR-10 and the PS-1000 side by side the PS-1000 gets very low on movies but a little boomie on music, when I played music and movies on the PDR-10 it stayed tight and fast and played low also, I took in consideration that my room where the sub would be was alot smaller than the room I audioned these two in so I chose the PDR-10 this sub worked out perfic it really shakes the hell out of my room and is very accurate at the same time dont get me wrong the PS-1000 is a hell of a sub and goes lower than the PDR-10 but you have to take in consideration the size of the room you will put your sub I believe the PS1000 is suited for a larger room,
but all in all the PDR-10 is an excellant sub for performance and value take a listen and you will see.

Strength:

Awesome power, look, automatic poweroff

Weakness:

The neighbours complain

I've had the PDR-10 for about six months. I did not realize what a difference a sub made until I had one. The PDR-10 is amazing. It produces deep clear bass, and is great for music and especailly movies, it even makes watchin normal tv a pleasure! I have the sub in a 33X11 room and it shakes everything if you turn up the volume, its so powerfull that it shakes the windows upstairs. I keep the bass volume below half and is still sounds amazing.
I would recommend this sub to anyone looking for power, sound and gradification.

Strength:

Clean, tight bass, auto on/standby

Weakness:

Manual can be clearer, no FAQ/troubleshooting section

A great entry sub if budget is your concern. Brought new dimension to music and wait till you hear them for DVDs (in DD or DTS). It's a blast! Get Saving Private Ryan and you will know what I'm talking about.

The scene with the Panzer tanks....you could actually feel the presence in your living room!!!

highly recommended!!!

Strength:

Great performance/price point.Canadian built.

Weakness:

You have to be realistic with a speaker this size

I finally decided to round off my HT speaker system with all Paradigm. I've had the CC200 for years and haven't tired from it. I replaced the PS100 with the PDR10 and I'm glad I did. FOr the price you can't go wrong. I really notice a difference on CD listening. It is really tight and efficient and can pound out the LFE on a 5.1 soundtrack.
Paradigm has a winner as most of you attest to here. Thanks for the feedback!

Strength:

Performance, Price, Value, Footprint

Weakness:

No Phase control, Output and crossover adjustments not marked

Been auditioning for quite a few months to replace my wimpy AR S8. It just could not fill the room. My decision actually boiled down to the Velodyne CT100 and the Paradigm PDR10. On a few different occasions I visited 3 different retailers who offered both subs. In comparison, I must say that although the Velodyne sounded slightly better I decided to go with the Paradigm. The difference in cost made up for the marginal difference in performance. The Velodyne just did not sound $100 better. IMHO I feel part of the price of the Velodyne is the name. Believe me when I tell you, the Paradigm PDR10 is an exceptional value and should not be overlooked. I'm giving this sub 5 stars for Value and Overall as I do not believe you'll find a better sub for $320.
