Strength:

Clean, deep bass

Weakness:

None

I just purchased the PDR-10 and I am extremely happy with it. It is excellent for both movies and music, never too boomy. If you can call bass crisp, then that is what this sub produces - clean, crisp bass, no rattle at any volume level.

Strength:

strong, accurate bass, price, boilt like a rock

I have had this sub for a couple of weeks now and have run many CDs and DVDs through it. For the price, top notch sound quality.
At the custom shop where I bought it from I auditioned other subs from Infinity, Mission, and Velodyne; all within the same price range. I chose the Paradigm becuase:
-sound was cleaner
-built most solidly
-loudest, cleanest low end of them all
-price could not be beat ($350 CDN)

I use the PDR10 with Mini Monitors and a Yamaha rxv495. Crossover is set at about 65 or 66 hz, output is just less than half way.

The Matrix: ch1, where Trinity jumps and gets the pan-shot, ch29 Lobby shootout, and the helicopter scene....WOW!
Deep rumbling bass...
Jaws DTS: ch19 Brody and the beast...
THX: opening image....
Sound like nothing I've ever heard before.

For the price range... 5 stars

Strength:

Crossover, tight response, ability to reproduce notes accurately

Weakness:

could use a phase control

The PDR-10 is really a great sub for the money. I got mine a local dealer for $280. What impressed me the most was its ability to reproduce tight bass notes very quickly. The crossover was also a plus. I didn't hear any voices from the sub as I had on several Infinity BU's. At first I thought the Infinities were hooked up wrong, but after going to three different stores I realized they had a problem with the crossover. That made me opt for the PDR-10 and I couldn't be more happy.

I brought all 3 home for the weekend. This was the worst of the bunch by far. It was the first eliminated. Talk about "mud city". It was a boom box compared to the others. Do an in home trail comparing others. Sub1 is the best sounding but will bring the value down a notch because of the price.

I'm sure there is worse but compared to the other 2 it disappointed me.

Strength:

Subtle yet strong, fast, but not boomy, clear and rich but not costly. Matches with the rest of my setup. The little LED right above the Paradigm logo

Weakness:

Front grille not removeable

I started out with the PDR-8, and then I upgraded my towers, so what ended up happening was I wasn't getting what I wanted out of my sub. I will honestly say that I enjoyed every single heartpounding second of the PDR-8, It had great definition, it did it's job with no problem coming out of an 8 inch driver, and I was more than happy with it, the only reason i changed up is because the PDR-8 is really meant to stay local with the other smaller speakers, this is a sub for just your bedroom or loft.
Now the PDR-10, takes my breath away, the quality of a speaker for the price is unbelievable and definately unbeatable, I have this thing shaking the whole entire house, and I live on the third floor, I get afraid sometimes to turn up my stereo passed a certain point just because I don't want the cops to be called on me.
For movies is when it really shows off its true self. Damn, I couldn't be happier with my setup.

My whole setup(without the revised PDR-10) is under main speakers. In there it is under KLIPSCH KSF-8.5.

My true to life suggestion is if you love great sound at an affordable price, their is no possible way of going wrong with Paradigm.

My speaker setup:
Fronts:Klipsch KSF-8.5's
Center:Paradigm cc-70
Sub:Pardigm PDR-10
Sides:Custom built with Pioneer elite 6 1/2" drivers and wide dispersion Zenith tweeter with custom hi-fi crossover
Rears:KLIPSCH KSB-1.1

Best when played loudly:-)
Happy listening to all.

Strength:

Defined bass down past 30hz... Great detail, nice price even at list.

Weakness:

None

This sub rounds out my Atoms and sound great. I play everything from pipe organ to David Hykes Harmonic Choir -- and it all sounds terrific. Placement is still important. Mine is a few feet up a side wall from a back corner. This has added accuracy and removed any hot-spots in the room.

Canadian speakers are a great buy, no doubt about it.

Strength:

Good Pitch Definition, Compact Size, Front Firing

Weakness:

No Phase Switch or Dedicated LFE Input

I wanted to move up in size from my 8" AR sub (which had a bit of trouble filling up my 13' x 18' family room), so I auditioned several 10" subs. I made one mistake (see my review of the awful JBL PB-10), and then settled on the Paradigm. It has more than adequate output for my room's size, good pitch definition, and has no perceptible hum when not in use. The warranty is nice (5 years), and it's looks are subtle enough so as not to stand out in my family room. It's hookups are a bit limited, but I only require that a sub have a low input, so it works for me. I am very happy with this purchase.

Strength:

Well-built, sounds great

Weakness:

None

For 350 dollars, this is a heckuva sub! How much is there to say about a subwoofer? I put it in the spot where I sit, turned it on with a test cd, crawled around and checked the 4 or 5 potential spots I could place it, found the best one under a side table, placed the sub there, plugged it in, got out the SPL meter, set levels and crossovers. Perfect! The subwoofer is a complementary piece. IMO, it shouldn't draw attention to itself. It should just sit there, tucked out of sight and make the ground rumble. My listening room isn't very big, so this little sub is just right for me. In this environment, I prefer stand-mounted speakers combined with a good sub to floor-standers. I think you get more detail and still get the bottom oomph. Best of both worlds. This sub works perfectly in this regard. When called into duty for some T-rex stomping or Tiger tank rumbling, it has no trouble making you feel those effects inside.

Overall, for a small to mid-size room, this is the best economy sub I know of. I tried a DefTech 8 incher and an Energy 8-incher. Neither of those added enough bottom-end to my main speakers to make them worthwhile. The PDR-10 on the other hand meshes wonderfully. If you have a larger room than mine (13'x16'), then look to the PDR-12. If you have a bit more money, look at the Paradigm PW-series. They are great as well. If I had to fill a larger room, I would go with the PW-2200 for 800 dollars.

Strength:

Clean bass, good on both music and home theater

Weakness:

None

I have had the PDR-10 for about 9 months and am still very happy with it. I was looking for a good sub at a small price to go with my Mini Monitors. This is the one. It is in a room 20'x11' and sounds great. Placement is important because of a lack of phase adjustment. I do not actually consider this a weakness, because of the price and the fact that it isn't too hard to find the best placement for your room. The PDR-10 performs excellently both for music and home theater, without distortion. Given its size, it is an amazing performer.
