Strength:

tight bass, not to boomy or thump.

Weakness:

adjustment to matched the Studio 20. (not really a weakness)

This sub can shake walls and has tight bass. With this price range, it is the best sub for the money. It works great when combined with the Titan. Highly recommended for people with limited budget to build their first home theater. For movies, this is a wonderful sub and not too bad for two channel stereo when playing music. If you have to match this with Paradigm Reference like the Studio 20, you have to constantly adjust the output to timber matched the output of the front speakers, IMHO the bass from the Studio 20 are a little faster than the PDR 10, so therefore you have to keep on adjusting the sub level output from the sub. Not really bad subwoofer. Tight, tight bass when adjusted. I prefer this sub over Bose or JBL or Cerwin Vega. Go out and test this sub to hear the difference.

Strength:

LOUD, deep MASSIF bass for pennies

Weakness:

not many controls to alter the bass, but its cheap!!!

SO far so good. I listen to garage/drum and bass and i wanted deep bass to fil up my room. well, my room shakes now! only thing is i havnt figured out how to get rid of the small delay between my normal speakers and the sub. It only becomes noticable when theres a house track on and the bass lags a bit

Strength:

- Tight, deep, fast response - Auto switch off (about 20 minutes) - 100 watts

Weakness:

- Plastic feed - Non removable grill

I use this sub for almost 2 years. For the first time, I didn''t know that they have to ''Break In'' first. After 4 months, the sound become great. This sub is very musical, tight, deep and good for HT use. Before I buy, I have listen to B&W ASW500 and Solid PB1000 (they are the same...right...??) and my opinion is the sound is quit close, but the price is very different...:) Jamo (8'') is too hard not so deep, Onky (double 8'')....ahhhh..they sound rattle..... So.....for the sound, 10 inch woofer, 100 watts...U$ 235...why not...:) just take a look closer at http://www.audioreview.com/GALPhoto_56453crx.aspx

Strength:

A fine sub for the money. Great for smaller spaces.

Weakness:

No phase control, but what do you want?xD;?xA;for this price?

The PDR-10 has all of the power small spaces need, yet is?xD;?xA;unobtrusive sonically and decor-wise. It also matches well ?xD;?xA;with my Titans; in fact, I like the Titan/PDR-10 combination more?xD;?xA;than I liked the Phantom. Given my viewing/listening habits, the?xD;?xA;PDR-10 suits me fine.

Strength:

Awesome HT sound. This unit thoroughly convinced me that my HT setup is superior to being in a movie theatre.

Weakness:

Would be nice if the grill could be removed.

I just capped off my HT system with the PDR 10. I was originally leaning towards the PS1000, however after carefull perusal of all the reviews, I went with the PDR 10 - and I''m happy I did. This subwoofer is more than adequate for my HT space (16'' by 13'' family room). It is equally responsive to HT and CD music, quick and non-obtrusive (unless you want it to be!). The amp''s power is more than most people will ever need. A great performer, at a great price!

Strength:

a great value from a well respected company

Weakness:

not at this price level

I bought this to complete my home theatre setup, after comparing ideas with my dealer. In Michigan the item was out of my price range, but a trip to Canada saved a sizable portion of the price.I am well satisfied with the PDR 10

Strength:

Low LOW Price. If you look around you cannot get a better sub for the money, it`s highly reccomended/best buy from many critics.

Weakness:

Non-removable grille, I wanna see it`s stuff! Crappy plastic feet that I`ll remove and fit huge spikes to or something. For these weaknesses I`ll knock a point off.

The price I paid for the PDR10 was £150. I dunno if $250 is accurate but it`s dirt cheap and a good solid buy for that kind of money. Why we can`t put the price in pounds, only dollars is silly.. anyway, I bought this sub today and have only used it for a few hours. It`s been fairly hard to get the level right but there was a few occasions where I actually jumped at a scene in the Matrix DVD I usually never jump at, so something`s right!! Seems good for music once you get the balance right. This little boomer definately can shake the windows. I use it in a medium sized attic and it fills the space very well. No real complaints especially at the price. I`m using it with a Sony STR-DB940 reciever so it`s getting 110watts up it`s ass, B&W DM602 series2 fronts, CC6 series 2 centre, Eltax HT2 Bipolar rears. Sounds dope.

Strength:

price/preformance ratio, Quick, natural sound, small "foot print" for the price you CAN''T do any better

Weakness:

No high pass x-over

What a great little sub!! What this sub does so well is NATURAL BASS without the sloppy boom. Must subs in this price range sound like their cabinets are made from cardboard boxes. These guys just sound like music. Tight detailed bass. No, they won''t dip down to the earths core but they will give 99% of music listeners all the depth they want. And they are quick enough to use with panels like the Magnepans. What a great deal! ENJOY!!

Strength:

Strong Base, Accurate reproduction, Audio great

Weakness:

none so far

Purchased from a local custom audio home installation company. Solid performer. Run with base level at about 40 percent of full scale and it gives great base response that is very clear. Not just a boom box.

I thought about getting one of the Polk subwoofers but I did not like the idea of an unprotected woofer on the bottom of the unit. The Paragon has the woofer protected and projecting sound from the front of the unit with a bass port on the back. I placed my subwoofer behind my TV in a somewhat enclosed space. The placement and direction of the subwoofer made a tremendous difference in the response of the unit. Don't be afraid to experiment with placement. Little changes make big differences. If you have the ability to put the subwoofer somewhere in the same general plane of your two front main speakers, that seems to be the best.

The owner of the business where I purchased the unit passed on a tip to me that others may wish to know. After you place the unit where you want it, listen to you system. Then change the polarity of your two main speakers (put them out of phase) and again listen to the base response. If the base response is better, put the speaker wires back to their original positions then remove the back plate of the subwoofer (only the screws around the perimeter of the plate) and switch he red and black leads inside. I did not have to do that with mine, but he told me that depending on the location of the subwoofer to the main speakers and room size and listening position a person may need to make the switch. I paid a little more for the subwoofer, but the owner of the custom audio store was very informative. I brought in my older Polk main speakers to try with the subwoofer at his location. Sometimes service is more important than price. Especially considering how long I will be using the subwoofer.

All in all, a great unit.

Strength:

clean bass

I’m quite satisfied with this sub.
I had originally purchased the PS-1000 which is $100 to $200 more expensive than the PDR-10. The reason I returned the PS-1000 is that I did not need all the power that comes with this unit; I could never set the volume to more than 1/3. I also found that it sounded more like a boom box and it did not enhanced the bass all that much.

The PDR-10 is not as powerful as the PS-1000 but I find that it complements my other Paradigm speakers better. For music, it enhances the bass and blends well with my main speakers (Paradigm Monitor 3). This is not the case with the PS-1000. The PDR-10 still manages to shake the room when playing a Dolby Digital movie.

I believe that the most important factor when choosing a Sub is the compatibility with the other system components and the room acoustics. A listening room located in a basement with carpeted floor will require much more power from a sub than a listening room located on a main floor with hardwood surface.

My system :

Receiver : Yamaha HTR 5150
DVD : Pioneer
Main Speakers : Paradigm Monitor 3
Centre Channel : CC-170
Surround : ADP-170
