Strength:

Powerful, clean and deep.

Weakness:

Large size

I listened long and hard to subs under $750. PS-1200 is the best. Sounds even better in my home after a year.

Strength:

Excellent power, deep clear base. Can''t beat the bang for the buck.

Weakness:

Not great for HT use.

I purchased this sub in July 2001 and have been extremely impressed with it. I went to every electronics shop and read all the reviews that I could find on various subs. I was originally looking for a Sound Dynamics 10" sub since a friend has one and I think it''s a great sub. But while shopping I came across this monster - the Paradigm PS1200. This subwoofer is excellent for home theatre use. The first day I hooked it up I put on my Terminator 2 DVD in DTS and a picture literally fell off the wall! This thing rocks! Since that day I keep the level turned back to about half way and at that point the pictures only shake and don''t actually fall off the wall. For HT use this sub is excellent. The bass is clear and deep. Not muddy at all. But for music this is not great. I have two separate systems - one for music and one for HT. If I do listen to music on my HT system I turn the sub completely off. It just doesn''t deliver when music is playing. But I bought the sub for my HT use and for that it rocks. You won''t find anything even close to the performance of the PS1200 in the same price range. (CAN $599.00)

to many to count

Im sorry to say that this is the worst product Ive ever owned. I thought that Paradigm manufactured good quality products, but I was proven wrong! After having this subwoofer for only 2 months it failed to operate. Before the failure the bass was dull and undefined. It would be a wonderful unit if you enjoy music such as rap, or hard pounding bass, otherwise stay away from it like the plague. If this is the type of product that Paradigm Canada has to offer, they have obviously lost touch with quality.

Strength:

Awesome bass, it really gets down low, although I have no way to measure it. My new neighbor met me one night last week and told me he was hearing strange loud noises from next door(townhouse), had to apologize. I was watching the Pearl Harbor DVD.

Weakness:

Heavy, takes some time to position it, for best results. Seems more suited for HT than music, but thats not a big beef.

I''ve looked some of the prior reviews in this article, and to be honest, didn''t expect to post a review. Having said that, here I am still in awe of my PS-1200 sub---- after what? 4 years! I employ Mini Mk3s for left/right and CC-150 for the center all from Paradigm. I''ve got some nifty little Radio Shack Optimus Pro LX5s for my rear surrounds. Sony receiver$DVD player supply the sound and pictures on a 30" Toshiba TV.

Weakness:

cheap cabinet look..

this sub has been such a wicked add on to my system(paradigm 9's on front,lcr-150 center and adp-70 rears)adcom amp and reciever.while it seemed lacking a bit in music other than rap, with movies this sub showed its true colors.i got a deal on this baby(450 canadian)soory i cant reveal my source :)) i found in looking for a comparable sub i was going to have to pay two or three times more for the same quality. i can only imagine what the models above this one can sound like.. BUY IT YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!!!

Strength:

Deep clear loud bass. Down to 23Hz.

Weakness:

This was one of the greatest investments i have ever made. I got it for 499 and it was worth every penny. I'm not exactly sure what the other reviews are talking about. This sub has kept up with everything i have thrown at it. Whether its a DVD or just music it preforms beautifully. Tons of controls to adjust it perfectly to your system. Just an amazing sub. I don't know what else to say but it goes deep, plays loud, and shakes my room at below half volume. I turned it up almost the whole way and i think the dorm was shaking the base was so loud. I never thought i could beat my Cerwin but this not only beats it but destroys it. If you are looking for a sub for about 500-600 this is the one for you.

Strength:

Powerful!!!!!!!

Weakness:

Setting it up for maximum Bass...as well as minimum distortion.

I love the sub!!! It just seems as though I keep adjusting the thing all the time...too much bass...not enough bass...too much bass...not enough bass...on and on. I have trouble with the controls...phase??? Most of this is my own fault...I am not sure what I am doing. If anybody who knows what they are doing reads this and feels like helping me...please email me...ejnelson@fmctc.com. I have the PS1200 Sub with the Reference studio 100's in front, the LCR450a for my center, some old Infinity speakers for my surround sound, and I am powering it all with a Yamaha RXV690 receiver. The receiver and my surrounds are probably my weakest links!!! Overall I am happy with the sub, when I get the adjustments made it sounds really great!!!

Strength:

great performance, versatile connection options, inexpensive

Weakness:

none

Fantastic subwoofer. powerful output, high limits, low noise, deep strong bass. marvelous companion to the B&W 602. Its output abilities are far far superior to most speakers it gets hooked up to. IF the system is properly balanced, the main speakers reach their limits much before the sub. In effect, unless you keep pushing the subs out put knob to near max, the sub never seems to reach its limits. Awesome.
