Strength:
Tight and accurate Competitive price
Weakness:
Big enough to be a coffee table, but you can't use it for one. It's deeper than my entertainment center, so it looks out of place. I just picked up my PW-2200 a few days ago, and couldn't be happier. Reading other reviews, it looks like I got a good deal on it. I went looking for a sub with a budget of $500 - $800, so I was right on target. And I think this sub competes well with others costing twice as much, a common opinion among Paradigm buyers. I listen to music 60-70% of the time, but I do enjoy rattling my wife's fillings out with guy-movie expolsions. For music, try James Taylor's "Gaia" from the Hourglass CD. Strength:
1.size and shape 2.build quality 3.a match made in music and HT
Weakness:
the only one is stock was black! I was not leaving town until I had the pw-2100v2 pw-2100v2 Since this baby is brand new there is no previous reviews for this sub. I am here to tell you for 800 u.s dollars you get a killer sub. I am 60-70% music the rest HT. I had to go with the 10" subwoofer. Point being It is half the size, same amp, twice as fast and much more musical. Don't get me wrong this thing will shake the neighbors house. Living in a apartment start looking somewhere else to live. I compared the 12 and 10 side by side. The pw-2200 does go lower but barely. After I guess hard pushing I broke this thing in 3 days. It sounds better every day! My music tastes are all over the board. I think the pw-2200 is silly looking since the pw-2100 is much more responsive, tight, and clean. I do exhaustive homework on my audio crap so belive me on this one. Similar Products Used: pw-2200v2 velodyne |

Strength:
Terrific all round performer, hits hard fast and pays attention to detail. Very solid, high quality driver for the price range. I could go on and on. Go here for yourself.
Weakness:
It's heavy but for a good reason I have read tons of reviews on this sub, here's mine. This is a big sub which is to it's advantage for great sound but gives minor placement problems. {unless your home theater space is extreemly small}I have owned a pdr 10 a ps-1000, and just upgraded to the pw2200. My system is all v3 Paradigm moniter 7's, cc370 center, adp370's for rears, and of course the great pw2200. If you listen to a lot of music and movies of different varieties try crossing the sub over at 100h. If you are mainly a movie person I would reccomend 80h. This is because most recievers and amps prcess the bass on a dvd on it's own channel so things are seperated much better than just a stereo recording. The pw-2200 is a very good sub for both movies and music. It has the ability to blend Extreemly well with your system and play loud and clean. This sub also has the ability to pick up detail in music and movies at lower litening levels for a seamless, full listening experience. I fully agree that there is not a sub that could surpass it for 1600.00 or less. I have had the priveldge of listening to many subs by jbl, psb, jamo, sony, velodyne, anthem and martin logan. I can say with confidence that the pw2200 waxed them all with the exeption of Martin logan. However the Decent runs at 5-8 times the price of the pw. I run a denon avr 1804 amp, and the denon dvd 910.I highly reccomend bying a good cord to run from your amp to the sub {at least 100.00 bucks} it is worth it. I always enjoy this sub but take time to place it, and cross it over correctly, if you place it in a corner don't mash it in give it at least 1 to 2 feet on each side this will help keep the bass tight and not "woofy". I always get a smile on my face whenever i feel the explosions this thing can reproduce. This sub can move you and your ear drums to pain if you so wish. Try the opening battle on Saving Private Ryan you'll smile to. The Dvd audio disk Reanimation by LP is also a killer listen but you must have dvd audio. I think the pw2200 is a great looking sub and it is available in 3 colors black, cherry and natural wood. I don't reccomend placing anything on top of the sub {it won't stay there}, or anything alive behind it. {you'll kill it...Ha Ha..it's great for blowdrying your hair really fast I bet although I have to yet convince my wife to try it}Do your self a favor look around but give this great alround performer a serious demo. I contrary to some other owners have found paradigm to stick by there warranties very well.{a center channel about a year ago} so i would reccomend them as a responsible company and I also grew up by there factory and they produce all there own parts at higher than industry standards which = incredible value and sound for you. This sub is what you want and need for a complete hometheater and musical experience. Thanks for reading. Similar Products Used: pdr 10, ps-1000 testing and listening to dozens of other brands { read main review}. |

Strength:
-quality of cabinet -quality of woofer(rubber surround etc.) -value
Weakness:
-maybe the size for some people? -placement.(but once sweet spot is found you'll be as happy as a pig in @$#! I love this thing. It sounds amazing matched with my other components. When I first started looking for a sub the first place I looked were reviews on this page, hour after hour after hour. I love paradigm products so I started with their reviews. They were all excellent so I started testing. Actually i'll be honest, I didn't even listen to any. I just went to my closest paradigm dealer and ordered one. Two weeks later it came in. I couldn't be happier with the way it sounds. It sounds better after a week or two as it breaks in properly. I must say though; it is very picky on placement. I think I re-arranged my living room about six times to make this think sound best. But now tht it's where it should be and it sounds increadable. Walls shake, floors rattle, neigbours complain, it's all good. I wouldn't buy and other brand of speaker. Similar Products Used: ps 1200(130watt model from a few years back) |

Strength:
Way more sub than I would have expected for the money
Weakness:
Some competitors put the sub controls on the top or front of the sub--this one still has them on the back. They make an optional external controller (X-30) to make things more convenient. Bought this sub on the recommendation of the dealer; I was prepared to drop $1500 on the new Klipsch Reference Series RSW15 and he said the Paradigm PW 200 would be a better sub for half the price. I have to say I am thrilled with this sub! I have Klipsch Reference series CF3s powered by Adcom GFA565 Monoblocks, and I frequently like my music LOUD. I was a bit concerned over whehter a single 12" driver would move the volume of air to make me happy without sounding like crap---but have no fear, this thing cranks. Tight, fast, what a deal for the money!! Similar Products Used: Klipsch, Bag End |

Strength:
No need for a ceiling fan, this thing push enough air for two rooms.
Weakness:
Size, big, can use as an endtable but nothing stays put on it. I read all these reviews before puchasing this sub, went to local dealer and ordered it in light cherry. ( I hate all these black speaker coverings coming out. If it's as big as a piece of furniture it should at least look like furniture.) Once I got it home I couldn't wait to hear it in MY house. Somehow everthing sounds bigger and better at home. Thats when it dawned on me I needed an input cable, a very long input cable. You want to be as far away as possible when testing for that sweet location. The corner of a room is not an option for this sub. It will over power the neighborhood let alone the room. As far as breaking it in- nonsense- this thing scared me right out of the box. Don't do what I did and plug this baby in before the input is hooked up. The cone jumped about 4 inches and I craped my pants. (So far it passed the abuse test.)That was just from the static in the cable. As far as my impression, don't expect to buy this to play music as I was looking forward to. This is a SUB woofer not a base enhancer! I sent my cut-off knob at 100 hz. which is where it sounds best and where I suspect Paradigm engineers designed it to be since the knob is at 12 o'clock (half way) You don't use your ears to listen to this sub you use your chest to feel it. Not much in the way of music reaches 100hz. (except if a musician bumps the mic) But put in a DVD and hold onto the couch! I get a kick when unsuspecting company is watching a movie at our house and the next thing you notice everyone is putting their hand down by their side. He-He. There is no reason to need more than this sub offers, maybe less, but definitely not more. Similar Products Used: Passive subs |

Strength:
build quality, tightness for a 12, keeps sounding better, surprising thunder.
Weakness:
they don't sell it with a complimentary bucket of spackle!! I used to own the PS1200 but decided after upgrading to a B&K Reference 7250 amp to drive my Studio 60's, that it couldn't keep up with the tighter sound. I was advised at Belden Audio that the PW2200 was a significantly better subwoofer. They told me that it was their favorite sub and I knew that they were being completely honest as I have had nothing but honesty in our 3 year relationship Anyhow, about the sub. At first a little boomy and sloppy as it needed to be played to continuously improve. And boy did it! Don't doubt anything you hear about the importance of break in (on any good speaker actually) before listening with any criticism. This is a wonderfully accurate 12 incher and mindblowing thunder can come out of this baby if that's what's on the recording. I have to agree you would be hard pressed to do better for under double the price. The funny thing is it sounded better than the PS1200 right out of the box. I only have about 15 hours on it and it has really started to open up in the last couple hours. This is a very well built unit and I so far am very pleased. I have had nothing but satisfaction out of Paradigm products. This sub is proof that whatever it is they build, it will do the job it was intended to do and then some. I realize that a couple people had some warranty problems but I'm sure can be said the same of any other company. All I know is my Studio Series puts a smile on my face and yes the Studio series is that accurate! This sub is the perfect compliment to it. Enough babble. Bottom line: if you want thunderous bass that is tight and never annoying at a great value, this is your sub.
