Strength:
awesome output, very musical. great price.
Weakness:
very large This subwoofer is awesome. I work for a Dealer, and have heard several subs that cost more money without having the output or musical integrity this sub has. As far as any warranty situation, I will tell you that most manufactures would prefer to work with the dealer on these isssues. I suggest if you have any problems, take the subwoffer to the selling dealer. I am sure that he can take care of all those problems. Realize that if you purchase outside a dealers territory to get a good deal, you may have to suffer some inconvienience to get these isssues resolved. Strength:
Hugely powerful and deep bass. VERY Musical, can operate properly in the 80-120hz zone, which MANY subs can't.
Weakness:
On the large size. Placement can be a problem. This sub may truly be more than you need, so audition carefully. I could have been happy with a smaller sub. I've just started to get the sub properlt broken in. Has extreme power and volume compared to M&K and other models, but has more placement issues. Excellent musicality lets this sub enjoy proper rolloff for small speakers and deep bass near 20hz. If it goes lower, it won't do it with much volume! But serious bass is truly in the 25hz region. Warranty Continuation of post listed below: Even though this is an excellent sub, I must admit that I am quite disappointed in Paradigm's (lack of) customer service. For such a minor repair, I would have expected Paradigm to do all they can to service their customers. Apparently, Paradigm does not always live up to meeting their warranty claims. I will soon be in the market for new main and center channel speakers. Unfortunately, my ordeal with this warranty has caused me to shy away from future purchases of Paradigm products. When I'm spending that kind of money on speaker components (or any product), I expect the manufacturer to live up to their warranty claims. Whenever friends or family compliment or question me on the performance of the sub, I don't hesitate to recommend the subwoofer for it's performance. However, I now always caution them on the manufacturers warranty claims. My father-in-law is currently building a dedicated home theater. I had once recommended that he audition Paradigm speakers. After hearing about my warranty ordeal, he has decided to look elsewhere. Fortunately for me, I have not had any other problems with my sub. I will give 5 stars for value but only 3 stars for Overall rating (because of the warranty issue). |

Warranty I would like to thank each and every reviewer for taking the time to post reviews on this excellent sub. I have now owned the PW-2200 for 1 1/2 years and am still amazed at the quality of sound this fine piece of audio equipment. My system, once lacking in low end, has now come alive! I auditioned several subwoofers (including Velodyne, Mission, NHT, Cerwin Vega) in this price range. None comes close to the sound and build quality of the PW-2200. I was having difficulty finding a sub that could handle the demands of both Home Theatre and music. The PW-2200 exhibits huge (yet very controlled) bass extension. Even set at half volume, this sub has the ability to shake the house! I listen to a large variety of music, including many formats of rock (alternative, hard rock, classic rock, industrial), to hip-hop, to jazz. Also, I enjoy watching movies. The PW-2200 has handled the demands of each of these formats with great ease. I purchased the sub from an authorized dealer while in Canada (the border is 1 1/2 hours away and the price was right). About 6 months after making my purchase, the LED (on the front) went out. While the performance of the sub was functioning flawlessly, I often use the LED to tell me the sub was on or off. Since it is still under warranty, I took the sub to a local authorized dealer. This dealer was unable to get Paradigm to pay for the repair. In short, Paradigm stated that since I purchased it in Canada, I would need to return it to my place of purchase. After several emails to Paradigm (most of which went unanswered) and many phone calls to various dealers, I have learned that several dealers in the US (near Canadian borders) were upset that people were going to Canada to make the purchases. My warranty plainly stated that repairs to my sub would be covered if taken to an authorized dealer. Nowhere in my warranty does it stated that I must return the sub to my origin of purchase or to the country of purchase for warranty work. Since the LED is a minor problem and because I don't want to deal with transporting it over the border twice, I decided to live with the lack of an LED light. I don't want to void the warranty completely by removing the woofer from the cabinet and attempting the repair on my own. Even though this is an excellent sub, I must admit that I am quite disappointed in Paradigm's (lack of) cu Similar Products Used: Velodyne, Mission, Cerwin Vega, PS1000, PS1200 |

Strength:
Ability to reproduce very low frequencies with authority. Paradigm's reputation for quality and value. Opportunity to buy from Canadian retailers at substantial savings due to exchange rate.
Weakness:
Fairly large in size. Another great product from Paradigm. A natural complement to my Monitor 7 V.2 and CC-370 centre. Capable of dynamic low end sound reproduction for both movies and music. Produces a clean sound that is not boomy, unlike some lesser subs. Bass response is relatively quick. Construction is very solid. Money well spent and highly recommended. Earth shakingly Loud, tight, clean bass.
Weakness:
This sucker is big. Beware of the Wife Acceptance Factor. Tell her you can put a table cloth over it and use it as a coffee table. (Good luck) If you live in an apartment, forget it. Everyone in the building will feel it and you''ll be evicted in a week. This is an amazing sub. I have a very large room (7700 cubic ft) and this sub has no problem filling it. When I first set it up it sounded great. After it''s break in period - 10 hours or so - it sounded awesome. My floors are 2" thick hardwood. When the sub needs to hit a low note, the floors literally shake. I was a real pain to the local hi-fi shops and demoed the Mirage FRX-10, Mirage BPS 400, Veledyne, Polk and even a high end REL. Only the $1600 REL came close to this units performance. I used Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon as my test CD. A good sub should be able to provide a clear distinction of the repeating 2 heartbeats on the first track "Breath". The 2200 had no problem with this test. I also use this unit for home theater. You literally feel the action as you instictively duck when bombs or dinosaurs are going off all around you. Serious "Wow" factor. In my opinion, this is the best $700 sub available. Frequency is rated down to 18 Hz, and I can attest it will hit notes below the hearing range. I say this because I have at times heard nothing but a slight hiss but felt my pants shake at some low frequency. Once I placed my hand near the rear port while adjusting the volume - and I thought it bit me. Way cool! Bottom Line - if your room is large enough to accomidate this sub - buy it. You will not be disappointed. Similar Products Used: Mirage FRX-10, BPS400, Veledyne, Polk, REL |

Strength:
nice clean low bass
Weakness:
at 16 hz and lower you will start to hear speaker movement and air movement instead of notes but that i guess is expected haha other then that nothing i can think of well i have owned this sub for about 6 months now and it still blows me away. when i first got it i was living with my parents and they were starting to get pissed off at my watching movies and listening to music but now that i am living on my own i can let the sub command me haha. anyway this sub is amazing it does not really matter how bad the accusics are in any room it will no doubt fill it with clean bass. i have the gain at about 1/4 and my sub volume on my receiver at -1 and it still shakes the house. i have a sony str-675 receiver, technics center channel, optimus 3-way towers in front and technics 3-way towers for rear then the PW 2200. Good with movies and music, able to match the crossover to your speakers.
Weakness:
None so far excellent sub! You will not find one better under $1200 in my opinion. Do youself a favor - let it break in before coming to any conclusions. You literally will hear and feel the moment it changes. Mine took about 3 weeks, and wow - this sub took off. After watching Phantom Menace - I was worn out. I have a new appreciation for movies and music with the paradigm sub, you will be pleased beyond measure. Similar Products Used: JBL, Sony |
