Strength:
Detailed accurate bass. Excellent price in Canada.
Weakness:
A bit slow on demanding music but so is everything else in this price range and many pricier units as well. I used the Paradigm PS-1000 for two years prior to purchasing the PW-2200. The unit I have is the dealers demo (until mine arrives)which is probably broken in. This sub is an incredible improvement over the PS-1000. Detailed, accurate bass that makes the 1000 seem sloppy. Sounds excellent with slower music as it blends in very well with my main Paradigm Studio speakers, but not quite quick enough for fast tunes. For the money this sub is fantastic ($800 Canadian/$500US). The servo 15 is my next upgrade but out of my budget range for now. Strength:
Handles music and home theatre easily. Powerful, tight and heavily constructed.
Weakness:
The size is not a weakness as this is where it gets alot of its benefits, but it is a consideration in terms of placement, etc. Wow! I just upgraded to the pw2200 from the great PDR10. My dealer was great giving me back what I paid for my PDR10, 1.5 yrs. ago on a trade up. I auditioned the pw2200 and the ps1200 and there is no comparison to my ears. I would have kept my PDR10 before I got into the PS series. They do provide alot of rumble but are not tight at all compared to the front firing pw2200 or pdr10. I can now feel the couch vibrate (with ease) on 1/3rd volume that the pdr10 just couldn''t manage. My mini monitors also benefit and my whole system is improved. I had to move the location of my sub after some home improvements to my home theatre room and it is now at the rear of the room. With the phase alignment it sounds great. Highly recommended. It is more that the pdr series but I figured I didn''t want to cheap it out and regret it. My system: Pw2200 sub, mini monitors(mains), cc370, titans(rear). Toshiba 50a50 rptv Pioneer dv440 Pioneer cld 240 ld/cd player Panasonic S-vhs vcr Denon DTS/DD 1801 receiver Similar Products Used: paradigm sb100, pdr10. |

Strength:
Thunderous bass. Fastest response of any subwoofer I''ve ever heard. [Note I''ve not heard any serious audiophile brands.]
Weakness:
None, in my estimation. We have a 1200 sq ft loft with 40'' ceilings. My beloved Paradigm Phantom v2''s, while a wonderful pair of speakers, failed to provide the lowend oomph required to fill such a cavernous space. After my love affair with the Phantoms, I decided to check out the reviews on this site for Paradigm subwoofers. Noting the excellent reviews for the PW-2200, I went to a local dealer and checked it out. I purchased the PW-2200 for delivery later that night, when we were having a party. KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. Right out of the box this behemoth was boomy, producing sound levels at 50% volume that were sufficient to vibrate our front door and visibly shake drywall on the ceiling of our loft platform. I was concerned, however, by the boominess--while fine for hiphop, breakbeat, etc, it left much to be desired for blues & jazz. I was a little disappointed. I reread the reviews on this site hoping I had not made a mistake. I noted the other reviewer''s comments that the subwoofer broke in well. After a period of about a week, the subwoofer''s sonic characteristics changed noticeably, becoming less boomy and more rapid to respond. I am utterly pleased with this sub and would buy it again. Listening to music with this is a totally new experience. Similar Products Used: EV pro audio subs, consumer crap |

Strength:
Plenty Of Bass to Satisfy every listening style.
Weakness:
Heavy as hell and bulky (but thats the price you pay for GREAT Bass) INCREDIBLE!!! I've found a new way of removing stucco and and my potlight from my ceiling ! This sub does and it...and then some. Ht users will really love this sub and the way it handles all LFE tracks with ease. Music lovers who aren't too caught up in the PURE musicality of what they're listening to will love this just as much. WARNING: THIS SUB NEEDS AT LEAST 5-10 HOURS OF GOOD RUN-IN TO GET THE FULL POTENTIAL. Don't return this sub five minutes after you hook it up, give it a chance the impress you. As stated in other reviews, the orientation & location of this sub is CRITICAL in order to get your full enjoyment factor. Similar Products Used: PS-1000 & PS-1200 |

Strength:
Tremendous boom for the buck. Great set of inputs, outputs, and controls.
Weakness:
No remote; otherwise, none. No better boom for the buck. Huge unit requiring ample space and breathing room. This sub is remarkably responsive and downright quick. No sub can match in its price range. Yes, you can find better, but not at this price. It is audiophile quality on an audio enthusiast's budget. If you are like me, you search this site for the best reviews AND the best place to buy. Well, here it is. See and buy at Kromer's in Toronto. Best price and best service and obviously, as an airline pilot, I have no reason to promote them other than my great experience with them. Go to http://www.kromerradio.com in Toronto and walk away a completely honored and satisfied customer. Again, I have zero affiliation with Kromer, but after reading a review on this site, I took the trip and agree that they are the best. output! I own a Velodyne HGS 12 and today I went to demo some other subs to use as a secondary sub for movies. I came across a Paradigm PW2200 and I must say that I was VERY impressed. The sub was musical and it's movie output was excellent... |

Strength:
Excellent with both music and movies. Many ways to hook up and use.
Weakness:
Big and heavy Just upgraded from the excellent (at its price point) PDR-12 sub. The PW-2200 goes even deeper and louder. I have my volume set at the 9 o'clock position (just a quarter turn). Integration with my speakers was very easy in my listening room. The PW-2200 offers great flexibility in terms of line/speaker set-up, crossover settings, variable phase control, etc. Equally adept with both music and movies. Highest recommendation. Strength:
Low frequency response, powerful built in amplifier
Weakness:
Sensitive to room placement, large physical size It took a while to find the best placement in the room but now that I have found it it is great. The bass is incredibly deep and powerful without being boomy (highly dependent on placement). It is equally good with music and movies. |

Strength:
Powerfully strong bass response.
Weakness:
None at this point. I bougth this sub a week and a half ago based on the recommendations of the experienced salesman at my high end audio store that I have done business with for 10 years. I had also read many of these numerous reviews before bringing it home. From the first moment I was impressed by the wall shattering slam of this speaker for HT. I have left it playing most of the day to aid in breakin. After some fine tuning and adjusting of the crossover and Volume controls this sub has really settled in. Some initial boominess I got when it was new and not fine tuned for my room is totally gone. Similar Products Used: Mirage substrata 1000 |
