Strength:

solid build, gorgeous looking, one of the best in its class

Weakness:

requires cross-over

I owned the BAG END ELF for a few months before selling it to a friend of mine. As much as I liked it, I primarily use the sub for home-theatre, and did not find it flexible enough. After a few months of research, I found that the SERVO 15 was the right choice for me. It is fast, accurate, and blends perfectly with my Paradigm Mini Monitors. I use it with the "sub out" on my receiver, so the separate cross-over does not get much use but it is still nice to have.

The recent negative reviews on this site have been nothing less than bewildering. All other audio publications have sung this sub's praises, so any problems other users may have must be due to something other than the SERVO 15. Make no mistake about it: this is an A-1 quality audiophile sub.

Strength:

Low end extension and accuracy.

Weakness:

None.

Not much more can be said about this sub that hasn't been said below. Top notch performer for movies and music. The kicker is the price, $1500.00 list!! I bought mine for $1200.00 out the door new in the box. Either way, nothing touches this sub for under $2000.00.
Just another amazing product from Paradigm.
Nobody gives you more for your hard earned dollar!!!

Strength:

Plays loud and deep.

Weakness:

a bit slow, intrudes on midrange to much, no built in cross over.

Hi! I am Andrew, with a head to head comparison between the Mirage BPS-400 and the Paradigm Servo 15. The first thing I noticed from the Paradigm
Servo 15 was it's ability to play loud and deep, but it did not blend in with the main speakers as good as the Mirage BPS-400 subwoofer. Another thing I noticed from the Servo 15 was that it tended to colour voices a little to much unlike the Mirage BPS-400 with did not even attempt to colour or ruin anything in the midrange, in fact the Mirage's midrage range sounds damn realistic compared to over backed bloat from the Paradigm Servo 15. The Paradigm Servo 15 always seemed to intrude on voices. To coniune on I found the Mirage BPS-400 to be very music, fast, and tight.
And the Paradigm Servo 15 seemed to lag a little on music in the upper midrange section, but it did handle the low right but, but the Mirage BPS-400 seemed to do it better. In fact, the Mirage BPS-400 sub tended to go deeper in the bass than the Paradigm Servo 15 with low to no distortion to detect, where as the Servo 15 tended to distort a bit at loud low freqs. Ever since the A B comparsion, tended to appreciate the Mirage BPS-400 subwoofer even more. Although the Paradigm Servo 15 is great subwoofer, it just
can't touch the Mirage BPS-400. The Mirage BPS-400 seems to
outclass the Paradigm Servo 15 in every respected area, and it's $200 bucks cheaper.

Strength:

Low distortion, accurate, smooth and musical

Weakness:

Plastic feet

After listing to many sub woofers by Paradigm, Mirage, B&W, Mission and Sound Dynamics it was hard for me to compare these sub woofers properly without having them side by side in the same size room at the same time. Most of them sounded good to me but what did stand out was that none of these fine subs played music as well as the Servo 15. I found this sub to be more accurate, smoother and musical it also played loud and very deep. I ended up buying the Servo 15 to add some body to some old rock recordings released on CD’s and add some low extension for home theater. (My 12” Cerwin Vega is too boomy for music but ok for home theater). For set up I have it cut out above 40 Hz. I find that it works seamless with my studio 100's and I had no problems making it sound right. Since the cross over is external I can easily make changes when needed.

I did read a lot of reviews on this sub and found only one review up to now from a published magazine (oh, and one reviewer below) that stated that there was coloration in the mid range no matter where he positioned it. I don’t hear this problem and it’s not a concern for me. (I definitely would not have purchased this sub woofer if I did). My only real concern was the foam surround used on the woofer drying out but after an e-mail to paradigm I was given a good explanation why a foam surround is used instead of rubber. Basically less distortion then using rubber of the required thickness and that today’s foam is not prone to “dry rot” like on a pair of old Jamo I have. Well true or not I really liked the sound of this Servo 15 and my second choice of sub had foam surround anyway.

If you’re looking for a good sub in this price range definitely have a listen to this sub I feel it’s a great value but ultimately it’s what sounds good to you that counts.

I LOVE THIS SUB SO MUCH I BOUGHT TWO!! IT BLENDS VERY WELL WITH MY PSB STRATUS SPEAKERS. THIS SUB SOUNDS AWSOME WITH MOVIES OR MUSIC!!! TIGHT, CLEAN BASS!!!!!
THIS SUB BLENDS BETTER WITH FLOOR STANDING SPEAKERS THAN WITH BOOK SHELF BUT SOUNDS GOOG WITH BOTH. WHEN I LISTEN TO THIS SUB IT SOUNDS LIKE ALL OF THE BASS IS COMING FROM MY MAIN SPEAKERS UNTIL YOU TURN THE SUBS OFF. WHAT MORE CAN I SAY. IF YOU WANT TIGHT, CLEAN BASS BUY THIS SUB! IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT BUY TWO!!!

I've owned the ps-1200 and ps-1000. Have the Stereophile Test cd #3. This servo absolutely gets down to the lowest test frequencies with no problem at all. At 16hz, I not only could feel the waves, (that's the only way I could describe it, they were rolling over my body) but I could hear it. Never thought that could be possible. And at just about any level I wanted. When it comes to music and theater, it let me hear any LF that the source had to offer and gave me the feeling that I would never need another sub ever again.

Alas, I must mention one bad thing. My wife wouldn't let me keep it behind the big screen tv which is the only place I could put it since there's nowhere else in that small room. The tv stuck out too far and the sub had to go. Now must wait for a sub that can come close to the Servo 15 but is smaller. Good luck you say.

ps Definition of house: A protective cover for stereo stuff.

Strength:

Crossover

Weakness:

You keep expecting it to make you just groove with the music. It doesn't! Very weak on movie "dynamic" sound.

After reading what the guy from Milwaukee wrote, I must say he hit the nail on the head.I sold mine last month for a pretty good price and purchased the NHT Two. What a difference speed and slam make!I think I was also fooled by the reviewers. Even my wife agreed with the new sub and she was angry I was selling the one I had just purchased last year.
