I've owned this subwoofer for well over a year and it has done wonders for both movie soundtracks and music. I connect it to everything from the TV to the CD player to the computer. I have paired it with four Advent Powered Partners, and its integration into my "audio" system has been nothing short of seamless. I recommend this subwoofer to anyone based upon its tremendous power and bass extension (I've noticed that it deep bass that passes right through a glass sliding door as though it weren't even there).

Strength:

No special strengths.

Weakness:

Just a bit overrated and expensive.

The Servo 15 is ok but for the money i have now realized that they are no better than the higher end Mirage/Energy subs or some others that are much less expensive. the reviews sold me on this sub. I wish I had thought twice.

There are better buys for a 1000 bucks than this sub. It's little dinky 2inch voice coil and mere 1 inch peak to peak excursion can be easily matched
by much less expensive subs. Powered subs suck. Buy a seperate amp. Two
Vega 15s and a professional level amp for the same cost will still go lower
than 20 Hz with a higher SPL. A Vega 15 has a 1.5 in. excursion, a 15 pound
magnet, and is 500w RMS(1000w peak). It is only $200. It can easily obtain a
120db Spl. Servo 15 still deserves a 3 since it is far better than JBL,
Pioneer, CerwinVega HT Subs, etc. A 100 BOSE subs wouldn't come close.

OOPs!! The ratings in my last review are incorrect. The 5 star is supposed to be for the "overall" and 4 starts for "value". It is a great sub, but try not to pay 1500 for it--you can get it for less. Also, make sure you have quality interconnects for it.

Strength:

Keeps up with music, sounds GREAT with movies

Weakness:

None I can find.

I don't know what the past few reviewers want out of subwoofer that the Servo-15 doesn't provide. I find it doesn't lag at all on music, and has more than enough impact on movies. The sub is quiet when it is supposed to be, but makes itself known when it is supposed to. I think too many people have their sub's up too much, having the bass overpower everything. I think bass should be equal with the other sound, not overpower. In fact, I found myself turning the sub down! If you do want the bass to overpower, however, the Servo 15 can do it. It gets louder that I think is needed when I crank it up. I've never heard the servo move, even after I've listened for it. I auditioned many subs, including many velodyne models, and none were up to par with the Servo (IMO). I don't think that for the money you can find a much better sub.

The Servo 15 is HUGE! It took two of us to lift it into the house. As I was reading some of the previous article I was laughing my ass off.
A pedal note from a Pipe organ produces the deepest loudest bass.
Cerwin Vega are pieces of shit compared to regular Paradigm and don't even touch the reference line.

NICE SUB, HOWEVER I HAVE A TRICK FOR ALL YOU BASS FREAKS OUT THERE. USE TWO SUBS EXACTLY AS I TELL YOU AND YOU'LL THANK ME WHEN YOUR HEAD EXPLODES. PLACE A SERVO 15 IN A FRONT CORNER OF YOUR ROOM THEN PURCHASE A SMALLER SUB FOR THE OPPOSITE REAR CORNER. TURN THE FRONT SERVO UP TO YOUR LISTENING LEVEL THEN TURN THE REAR SUB ALL THE WAY UP THEN BACK OFF UNTIL THE BASS TIGHTENS UP. KEEP EXPERIMENTING WITH THE REAR SUB VOLUME UNTIL YOU DIAL IT IN. YOU'LL GET RID OF YOUR STANDING WAVES AND SHOULD BE LEFT WITH AWESOME CLEAN AND TIGHT BASS. HEY, IT WORKED FOR ME. GIVE IT A TRY AND GOOD LUCK! PS: REMEMBER TO HAVE BOTH SUB DRIVERS FACING THE ROOMS INTERIOR.

I needed to upgrade to a new sub after using a JBL psw-112 for about 2 years. After getting my Yamaha 2095 and DVD player earlier this year I felt I needed to do more justice to the Dolby Digital and DTS movies' low end over Dolby Pro Logic.
I purchased this woof recently after reading the reviews and hearing it first hand in the showroom. I compared the Servo to the Velodyne FSR-18, Velo ct-150, Boston VR-2000, JBL psw-d112 & 15 and few other I can't remember. This list covers a pretty wide price range from about $450 to $2,300 for the big Velo.
The Servo was right in the middle at $1,300. After the Servo dismissed the other units in turn I came to the Big Velodyne. While also an awesome unit which moves copious amounts of air, I felt it just wasn't $1,000 better than the Servo. In fact I felt the Servo even sounded better at certain times.

So how is it after my first couple of weeks in house?... AWESOME. The Servo plays deep and loud. And like another reviewer said it has the rare ability to shift gears and go from following a bass line dead on one minute, to rocking your sofa in Armegeddon the next. And with that servo gadget in their you don't have to worry about bottoming this baby out. If you can stand your movies and music that loud that is. I believe your neighbors will be there first.

I can recommend this unit without any hesitation.
Go listen to one for yourself.

Strength:

Decent crossover!

Weakness:

Servo control,Bass slam

I purchased this sub despite a few cautions I had read and was disappointed. One of the British reviews said it was nice but had less slam than the best and a few others said the bass could be plodding at times. They all turned out to be right. The biggest disappointment was how slow and polite this thing was for a list of $1,500. The other problem with the Servo-15 was the servo. It constantly made noise as it adjusted the 15" woofer. It's like a little Mr.Machine working overtime. I went and listened closely to other Servo-15s at other dealers and found they all made noise (to my ears, at least). You don't notice it all the time and may miss it in the showroom because your generally listening at elevated levels that might actually mask the adjustments. Just put on something with a variety of bass notes and sit undistracted. See if you notice the "gears changing," so to speak. If your room is large and your not near the sub, then it might not be noticeable. Although my room is pretty large and once I noticed it I would always be conscious of it.

This is a sub that has been carried along by an excellent marketing and advertising program which may or may not color reviews. Paradigm makes excellent speakers and very good subs. They can do a bit better in my opinion! I purchased another sub which I won't mention or you'll think I'm a competitor...which I'm not!
