This IS the best sub on the market right now. I've auditioned soooo many subs, I can't recall them all. If you want a sub that will do it all, this is the one. I listen to everything! Hard hitting and booming electronica/industrial, classical, rock and roll, (Sorry! No HIP HOP, that shit ISN'T music!) and home theatre. I threw so much at this monster and it just spit it back at me so hard, I nearly fell over. This sub is so tight, when it's turned on, even without a signal, it stays distortion free. I pushed the driver (not on mine, the demo in the store) while it was idle and it snapped back into place in a split second! The sickening fact about this beast is it's price! I paid $1650 Canadian, including our gratuitous taxes! It was the same price as some of those pieces of shit in Future shop and Best Buy, but sounds ten thousand times better! Okay, acoustic suspension and 400 watts! 'Nough said.
To quote the great Mr. T, "I pity the fool that throws his money away on any other sub."

Awesome product for the price 5/5.Will go low, loud and clean when needed.Solid16Hz output, good construction. For the price you cant ask for more.

On another note I really like the "This sub is cheap,no 6"voice coil,no 50lbs
magnet and no 3"peak to peak excursion."duh.This is about how it sounds
not spec mania.By the way my Synfire has a 10"driver with a 3"voice coil
and a 14lbs magnet and and 2.5"peak to peak excursion. It does not make the Sunfire sound better than the Servo-15.Louder is not better.

I have been listening to this subwoofer along with my Active 20s for a few months now and I really can't add much to what has already been stated here.
The servo-15 plays very loud and accurate bass. In fact, I considered getting one of the other subwoofers from Paradigm; all of which performed beautifully with music but lacked some "oomph" to them. From the deep pedal notes in the opening chorus of "Phantom of the Opera" to the Earth rumbling of the buffalo stampede in "Dances With Wolves", the servo-15 never leaves you wanting more.

Of all the subwoofers I have auditioned, only the Velodyne subwoofer FSR-18 seemed to perform slightly better with even MORE power. However, I got this sub "barely used" for about $1000 and I couldn't pass up the deal.

Use it with the X-30 crossover to fine tune output levels (especially for music). Current (and constantly changing) components:

Paradigm Reference Active 20 (MAIN)
Paradigm Reference Active CC-450 (Center)
Paradigm Reference ADP-450 (REAR)
Yamaha 250 Watt Stereo AMP (REAR)
Paradigm Servo-15 (SUB)

Toshiba TW40f80 Widescreen TV
Sony SDP EP9ES Dolby Digital Decoder

Strength:

Earth shaking bass, elegant cherry wood cabinet.

Weakness:

Massive!

I've had this monster for just over three months and is paired up with 6 Reference 20 v2's. My Lexicon DC-1 is the pre/pro running the show. All I can say is I’m very happy with my Servo 15.

The opening seen of "The fifth element" shakes you to the bone.

I have colleges come over to the house who have spent 20G's on their home theater speakers. They are completely amazed with my Paradigm's, which only cost 4.5k with the most luscious cheery finish.

You won't be disappointed!

Strength:

Servo controlled, tight, quick, accurate, dynamic...AWESOME!! Cast frame driver. Priced right as well.

Weakness:

uhh..my cat likes the grill cover?

I have to say..the Servo 15 totally stomps all over Velodyne. Velodyne is overpriced junk. HSU is a joke, M&K is overpriced as well. HSU and M&K don't even use cast drivers for cripes sake.

This sub does everything you could ever hope for and more. it's rather smallish for a 15" so it hides in the corner and just does it's thing. You don't pay for pretty colors or other useless features, you pay for quality bass reproduction. That's it. Quality parts, quality sound, great price, ultra reliable. What else do you need?

Strength:

Ultra low frequencies, tremendous output, visually pleasing

Weakness:

Can hear woofer moving when high excursion, eg. a 14 Hz tone

I got this sub a couple of months ago, and although I've had some difficulties placing it in my room of 14 cubic meters it's playing great now. My internal organs have been reorganized to fit the Servo-15. So far the only things I've destroyed a dish and got one complaint from my neighboor living 25 meters from my house, and the sub is in a room below earth. This was all done when playing Clint Eastwood by Gorillaz. Another worthwhile song to play with the sub is Oh Yeah by Daft Punk. These two songs really show the huge sub-bass output this sub is capable of.

The first thing I did when I unpacked it and had it attached I set the crossover to 120 Hz and turned the volume up very loud. It somewhat disappointed me, cause I've listened to a friends Cerwin Vega AL1000 and they had severe punch. After some while I moved it around and placed it in a corner and it improved greatly. I turned down the crossover to 80 Hz and that helped alot too.

My system consists of the following:
Computer with MX300 sound card attached to ->
Paradigm X-30 Crossover which splits the signal into the sub and a NAD 216 THX power amplifier. A pair of Paradigm Monitor 7's is attached to the amp. All volume control is done by Windows Volume Control.
The crossover gives the Paradigm everything above 50 Hz, and the Servo-15 gets everything below.

A lot of people will probably complain about me using a computer as a source, but I find it excellent. When you're allready sitting at the computer and using it alot it's much easier just to drag the mouse the lower right corner and turn the volume up than using the stereo.

I purchased this sub along with a complete Paradigm ensemble. There isn't a whole lot I can add to the description of this sub that hasn't already been said. I love this sub, and no matter what I throw at it, it sounds good. I bought my system based on the fact that I needed a "all-in-one" combination. I wanted music to sound great, but I also wanted high-impact home theater. With my setup, I think I've gotten it as close as my budget would handle.
Setup:
Nakamichi IA-1z
Nakamichi MB-10
Yamaha DVP-S700
Paradigm Reference Active/20 (fronts)
Paradigm Reference CC-450 (center)
Paradigm Reference Studio/20 (rear)
Paradigm Reference Servo 15 (sub)
