Strength:
Tight bass, compact.
Weakness:
none I have polk monitor 4's that I have loved for years, added a polk CS 245, some cheap but ok JBL surround speakers and finally my polk PSW 120. I have an apartment and it's too much. I love it. Especially in movies. Just saw "Saving Private Ryan" and WOW what incredible explosions. I love all of my polk speakers very much. |

Strength:
Great bass out of a small enclosure, punchy, very muscular for a 90 watt amp. Can't beat the price for this quality (typical of Polk)
Weakness:
doesn't dip below 35 htz (well what were you expecting out of an 8"?) Great buy! This will give your system good bass at a price you cannot beat. The bass is very musical and strong. I listen to alot of hip hop and hard rock as well as other kinds of music, and even for these types requiring powerful boomy bass, this sub delivers! It is great for HT too, our movies sound awesome in Dobly Pro (soon to be digital). And with a dial for volume and crossover, you have the ability to get the right bass you want. Sounds great in my dorm room (even in my basement at home). Small enclosure too, a neccesity in a college dorm room. Doesn't dip as low as a 10 or 12, but at this price and with these great features, there's no complaints here. Perfect for my needs; great job Polk! Similar Products Used: my first sub |

Strength:
Tight bass, phase switch, compact size and price.
Weakness:
Volume This sub was the display model at Circuit City and I bought it to add more bass to my Polk RT 5 speakers and it's compact size was easy to hide. I already have a Velodyne CT 10 but I wanted another sub without spending much $. I could not use line level connections from LFE out of my Yamaha 2095 as I got bad feedback. This can happen with some subs without LFE switch. So I used speaker in and out put to my Polk RT 5 with volume control at max. I was pleasently surprised to find it sounded very tight and blended in nicely with my other Polk speakers. It was no match for my Velodyne but it did add punch to balance the bass in my home theater. For the price I feel it is a good sub and better than others for it's size. It is discontinued but you could find it at Circuit City. They had a new one for $200. Similar Products Used: Infinity SW 10, JBL PB 12, Velodyne CT 10. |

Strength:
for the money is a great value...fits my room very well. not too bassy and can handle lows end and high end bass well. i'm still playing with placement for the moment, but for now sounds great behind my sectional.
Weakness:
none so far... sure there are probably 'better' speakers out there...but for the average joe like me who wants a good sounding system at a fair price...this can't be beat i think. Similar Products Used: also have center channel polk audio...can't recall model number at the moment...also very good... |

Strength:
deep tight bass for the size
Weakness:
none for the price and size i recently purchased a sony str875 receiver up grading from the old prologic receiver that i had held on to for years. when i hooked up the subwoofer and set the hz. down to 90 on the receiver i was amazed at the bass that it could produce without becoming dissorted. this sub packs alot of punch for its size and as far as i am concerned it will blow the adverage 10" sub out of the water!!!! Similar Products Used: none in the size range can touch it!!!!! |

just purchased this sub from crutchfield , and it doesn't dissapoint , the bass is deep as well as defined with a munimum of boominess. for the size and considering it has a 8 inch woofer , i would easily give it 4 stars.for loudness though i would give it 3 stars. this averages out to 4.unless you are a total bass freak , or have a large room , i recommend it. my previous sub was a design acoustics (what happened to them ?) that had a 10 inch carbon fiber woofer , and it's enclosure was twice as large as this subwoofer , yet the polk has deeper bass. loudness goes to the design acoustics sub though. |

I just purchased the Polk subwoofer and after two days would give 4 stars. The bass is strong, not too mushy and the volume is fine for my room. Sure, there's alot of better subwoofers, but for $250 with a 5 year warranty on the speaker and 3 years on the amp, I can't complain. |
