Was aquired as part of Polk RM6200 speaker package. Now used with moniter 50 (2), SC1 (1), and RM1300 (4). Great bass for a 8". Corner locatins work best. I have used it with Yamaha, Harmon Karden and Sony electronics. Polk subs are easy to setup. When used in speaker packages follow instructions for best results.

NOT ENOUGH BASS FOR ME

price was 300 canadian well ive been thinking about getting a sub for music and home theatre for a long time now and I finally went out and got this sub based on its low price and all the reviews. The sub is good for the price, there is no arguing that. It just wasnt enough for me, after a week of use I returned it. If you want a sub for a small - medium room and just want to enhance your home theatre then this sub will do the job well. It will also improve music but not really that well. After a week I decided I should take this sub back and double the money I was willing to spend in order to really get a sub that I like. I wanted a sub that would boom and people would definitly know that there was a sub in the room. The psw250 couldnt do that for me but my new velodyne does!

It's shielded, in case you want to put it near the TV. Pretty tight sound, reasonably power for its size/price. No problems with buzzing or humming.

None for the price, in my opinion.

I don't have a lot of experience with subwoofers, but I have been real happy with this one. I originally bought a Wharfedale Powercube 10 (10", downward firing). The Wharfedale was just awful: it was very weak, not tight even at really low volumes, and had a serious problem with buzzing/humming (yes, I tried all the standard things to stop the humming). Anyway, I took the Wharfedale back and picked up the Polk based on the reviews I read here. Basically, I don't have too much to add -- I pretty much agree with the bulk of the reviews here that say this is a great sub for the price. One thing I would also add, get a side firing speaker like this if anyone lives below you! I thought the downward firing Wharfedale would be better (and it could be for some), but all in all the side firing design will give you more options while not annoying your downstairs neighber.

Probably the best entry sub of it's kind. VALUE and PUNCH = Woah!

No LFE in. Requires a bit of tweakage to sub and receiver to get full potential.

If you need an inexpensive entry sub the PSW25O is it! This puppy kicks with authority in small to medium rooms. You can't beat the price and quality of this sub. Once you hear it you'll think you spent more on it.

Unbelieveable value. If you have a small to medium sized room i highly reccomend picking one up. It won't knock down ceiling tiles or kill the elderly but it gets the job done for the occasional explosion or starship pass.

This sub is very powerful for an 8". I ended up getting this sub for free when the wiz was having a sale on polk audio stuff. I spent $850 on just two towers and a center channel, and so the sub came free with the speakers. I couldn't believe that they were giving away a sub for free, so I figured that it can't be that good. That night, I hooked it up in my room with my sony reciever, and watched gone in sixty seconds. There was so much bass, and I didn't even have it facing a wall, and I wasn't even using optical for my dvd player at the time! I later hooked it up in the living room, which is obviously bigger than my bedroom, and I didn't really feel much bass at all. I strongly recommend this subwoofer for a smaller room. It's worth the price, best sound quality for an 8 inch sub for the cost,heavy duty enclosure.

No LFE input, upgrade to the 10 inch if you need it.

When I heard the PSW250 at Future Shop I couldnt believe the sound quality it punched out. I compared it to the Cerwin Vega and JBL 8 inch and didnt notice any supprising difference except for the prices being higher. The PSW250 is worth every penny and will continue to be my recommendation to any shopper.

No LFE input, Man!

Handsome little unit that packs a punch, but the lack of a LFE input kind of bugs me.

Fills out the sound of decent bookshelf speakers quite nicely (I'm running Polk RT35's). Does an excellent job of adding a lot of nice, clean punch to drum sounds. Quite adjustable. Aestheticaly pleasing. Seems louder than its small power rating would suggest.

Quite messy, loose, and fuzzy (in other words, not clean, clear, or tight) when it comes to bass (as in the instrument... or synth bass if you are into techno). Seemed to eat bass melodies somewhat while still pumping them out loudly.

I'd have to say that I would go with the JBL for the same money. I wish I liked the Polk more, as all of my other speakers are Polk. This unit puts out great drum sounds and fills out my sound nicley in general, but i really think it is lacking when it comes to bass melodies. I will qualify this by saying that my living room is disgusting when it comes to acoustics (carpet, windows, and funny angles). I don't have a Dolby Digital setup, but judging by what this does with a stereo TV signal, I think it would put out really nice home theater effects. For musical reasons, though, I'm keeping the JBL and taking the Polk back. If you do buy this unit, goof around with the controls a lot. It's really quite adjustable, which is a good thing.
