Strength:
It will do the job as long as you don't mind changing the volume, and possibly settling for less than you want.
Weakness:
Can't handle loud, sharp, noise. I'm using the PSW350 for my Home Theater. I noticed that I was hearing a loud popping noise when a loud sudden passage played on a DVD (such as depth charges on U571). I'm using a Yamaha 5250 HTR with 100 watts per channel so power shouldn't be an issue. I finally turned the volume to a little below the 10 o'clock position to stop the popping. This is lower than I like ... and I have to turn it up to listen to music. I'm disappointed, all things considered. It's not likely I'll buy Polk Audio again. Tight sound, very musical
Weakness:
none that I have found A great subwoofer...I am using it in my music/home theater setup with Bose 301,s a my main speakers, Bose 161's as my surrounds, and the Bose 10 has my center channel. After experimenting with different settings, I find that the best balance of frequencies is obtained with the volume set between 1 and 2 o'clock, and the frequency cutoff set at about 10-11 o'clock. Greater settings tend to color the sound. My old CD's take on new fullness that the Bose's 8" woofers cannot produce; home theater takes on more realism as well....excellent speaker, especially in my system. everything A great subwoofer all around. great bsss, good speed and accuracy and a nice price tag as well. Bass shakes the walls knocks things over and all at the one o'clock setting. phase set to 180deg and it rocks the house as well as the neighbors. How about them apples!!!!!!!!! a great buy. Watch out for amp hum when your system is shut down, not to worry though a common porb with a simple fix by polk. |

Doesn't "rumble" well for home theater First I have to say that I would never buy anything from ayselectronics.com! They had the best price, so I thought I would give them a try. It took almost a month. Talk about poor customer service. As for the PSW350 it is a very capable little sub. I am using cobalt cables subwoofer interconnect and a high quality Yamaha receiver. Both good products. After breaking it in with a test disc from Stereophile.com I sat down to listen. All speakers really need a good breaking in, sometimes up to a month long before they will perform up to snuff, so be patient. While the sub doesn't "shake the pictures off the walls" like some reviewers claim unless you turn it up to distortion levels, it performs very well for a 10 inch. I auditioned it against the Velodyne CT100 (10inch) which is also highly reviewed, and the Polk won out due in part to price, but mostly due to the Polks tighter bass. This allowed it to perform better for music, while both were good for HT. If you really want your room to shake with bass for home theater this is not the sub for you and you probably want to step up to a 12 inch. I have a small room (11 x 14) and it does a very well filling in the lower frequencies my infinity towers leave out and fairly well adding the rumble factor. Overall I am very pleased, especially for the price I paid, which by the way was not worth the hastle. Similar Products Used: Velodyne CT10 |

Cheap Lets see. This sub no longer works. The woofer blew out while listening to The Phantom Menace pod racing scene. I have the sub set at about 10:00 on the dial. I have my Yamaha receiver set to about 11:00 on the dial. My usual listening level for about 2 years. I have had this sub for 1 year now. No problems with this sub before, the setting is low so i dont blow the woofer out. Well i was wrong. POP! Woofer is dead. I took out the woofer and saw the most cheap, peice of garbage materials inside. Folks this sub might as well been made by optimus. If you want a picture, i will send you one. |

Strength:
Musical, powerful, flat to 30Hz and goes deeper, very little port noise, well built, great hook-up flexibility, good looking.
Weakness:
Some hum in standby mode. I initially purchased one of these subs for $340 on open box at Circuit City. I was extremely impressed with the musicality and tightness of this sub. It is definitely not the "one note wonder" type of sub so common in low end HT set-ups. I play my HT pretty loud, and had the sub volume set at 1 o''clock and even at -25 db volume on my 100 WPC x5 receiver, this sub was hanging in there and delivering huge amounts of bass and moving tons of air on LFE tracks in U-571, Atlantis, Matrix, ID4, SPR, and many others. I was SO impressed with this sub, I went out and bought another one at Circuit City - this time for $212 (!!) in combination with several other Polk products. I now have both PSW350''s stacked and running off a Monster cable and a Monster "Y-splitter" to the unfiltered LFE inputs. They look beyond cool stacked, and with 200 watts RMS and 520 watts peak power to play with, I have the volumes set at 12 o''clock, and can completely blow out the entire house with deep, clean, powerful big impact bass. This dual combo might not go quite as deep as the similar PSW650 (165 watts with two 10" woofers), but it is more powerful, and moves more air at anything above 30Hz, compared to the PSW650. This sub is amazing for the price, and don''t beleive the Polk specs for roll-off - they are conservative. In my room with a calibrated German SPL meter, this combo has a -3db point of 30Hz in my 12x18 HT room, and actually hangs in there well down to about 25Hz (-6db). Very few DVDs have significant signal content below 30Hz, so at least for me, two PSW350''s is the ultimate for my HT needs. This sub rocks, hands down. Similar Products Used: Demo''d JBL, Velodyne, Sony, Infinity - all the usual suspects. The Polk was the most musical and the best value. |

Strength:
Accurate sound, lots of connections, puts out 110dB max. at 3 feet.
Weakness:
It will not crack concrete or cook food. I can''t stand it, that time after time on this site people are lying their butts off about getting a $400 product for $100 at a store that sells the stuff for $350, and nobody here reviews their claims.. What''s more, why can''t any of these people SPELL or use punctuation? Their English teachers must''ve been with the James Gang, for all the time they obviously stole from them. Yugoslavic refugees have better command of the language! The Polk PSW 350 will deliver tight, accurate bass down below the low "E" string of bass guitar within -3dB, It has all the hookup options you''ll need, and lowest possible response goes down to 28Hz! If your main objective is accuracy over sheer show-you''re-a-jerk volume, you''ll be very happy with this one. Similar Products Used: Genelec 1091A active sub, Tannoy PS 100B |

NONE All the bass you will ever need!! If you need more bass than this you do not know how to enjoy music/movies. This sub accompanies my Polk Audio RM6600 set. Incredible all around sound for every application. The perfect sub to compliment any speaker/theater system. I got it for $100.00 because it was an upgrade to a theater system. It is worth the $399 retail price tag. Similar Products Used: Cewin Vega 10" Powered Sub |

Best "bang" for the buck.
Weakness:
Maybe a little on the small side for larger rooms. My HT setup is in a 12x15 room. More than adequate for the size of the room. The floor really gets to shaking on some movies. I bought this sub to compliment my other polk audio speakers. And I really have to admit that this sub can literally rattle your teeth if you want it to. The lows are very low, but when playing it in 5 channel stereo mode for music, well lets just say it goes beyond anything that I would ever expect out of a sub at this price range. Cheesy spring clips on line-level connects, hum on auto mode above 1/2 volume This is a capable little sub. It''s relatively tight and focused. I found that I really had to experiment with set-up options. At first I ran a preamp line out (mid-grade Monster Cable) of my Denon 3801 receiver to the sub''s unfiltered line in, using the Denon''s 80Hz crossover (the THX certified setting), per Polk recommendations. Wow, was I underwhelmed -- my little Polk RT35i bookshelves were drowning out the sub, even with the sub''s volume at 100%, at "on" setting. Pathetic. Obviously, the Denon was configured for a bigger, more powerful subwoofer. So, I tried a y-splitter into the filtered sub input (recommended against by Polk), and it made all the difference. I got plenty of output at 50% volume, even on "auto" mode. I recommend this little sub for an audition based on price and quality. I think you''d have to go to a significantly more expensive product, like the NHT SW10, to get substantially more performace. But remember, experiment with set-ups to get what you like the best!
