Strength:

A LOT of bass when combined with a monster cable lfe cable

Weakness:

It was not as tight as I expected to be.
Also,If not combined with a good receiver it with be loud but not tight, and I will not have that certain punch that good receivers give, that have with an equalizer

Very good sub for the money

Strength:

Thundering low bass lines with home theater setup and music as well. No extraneous hiss or hum when cranked.

Weakness:

Scares the dog.

Bought this sub in my upgrade to true home theater since I got a Sony DVD a while back. I bought a Polk CS-400i and 2 Polk F/X300i's so I qualified to get the PSW250 with those for free. From reading the reviews on this website (thank God for the internet) and comparing in-store I paid the extra $100 for the PSW350. WOW -- I'm a newbie to the whole home theater thing but this sub thunders like I'm in the middle of Lowe's Motor Speedway. And I'm only pushing it with an Onkyo TX-DS494 -- it would be interesting to see what it would do with even more power, which I definitely don't need.

My big test (besides the usual Gladiator/Patriot stuff) was the Close Encounters mothership arrival scene. The rumble was incredible (much better than seeing it in the theater in 1978 LOL). Working with the CS400i this unit gives incredible tight lows in music and effects scenes. Fantasia 2000 was also astounding. Took the dog outside and thought I was hearing a car down the street, wife told me it was the DVD LOL.

The only negative about this unit was what I had to go through to buy it. Getting information or help from CC staff is very frustrating. You better know what you want before you get in the store because most of the salespeople are clueless. One Russian guy at one store wouldn't even play the units I wanted to hear and tried to sell me the RMX6000 package instead "because it was a good deal." Uh, yeah, thanks bud, seeya.

Strength:

Clarity with music(like all Polk products), its potent for a 10" with its conservative dimensions, build quality, low frequency extension, price.

Weakness:

I haven't experienced anything negative yet.

I gotta say I over-bought on this one because I heard my friends Infinity BU-2 and thought that I wanted more power than that. I could have bought his BU-2 from him for about $100 less than the Polk. When I got the PSW350, I couldn't believe how much output was there and how deep it can play. I have had experience with a Boston sub and that was in no league with this Polk. As you can see, I am a die-hard Polk customer because I really appreciate the musicality of all their products. Any sub out there can play a loud, low frequency rumble. This Polk has some grace and dignity on classical tracks as well as kick-ass power for the rap and club. There are subtle nuances even in low frequency effects. I don't want to bash a high profile sub, but I was never really impressed with the outrageously expensive Velodyne. It is too boomy (although it is DAMN loud and powerful at very low frequencies.) The 12" Infinity that my friend has is even boomier and loose (while not being as powerful or deep as the 10" Polk). I paid $290 for this sub. For $290, you can have an overpriced sub from another high profile company or you can have this awesome Polk. I gave the value rating 5 stars for obvious reasons. I am usually tough on the overall rating because there seems to always be something better out there. And indeed, there is something better out there. For me to spend twice the price of this Polk, I better be very impressed with it and so far I have not been. To significantly better this sub you need to spend in excess of $800, therefore it earns a well-deserved 5 star rating. I highly recommend for the listener on a budget. Happy listening!

Power, Clarity

This sub from Polk kicks ass. Prior to purchasing this unit I was wondering if the power would be adequate for my room. The subs sounds great and I have had to turn the power down really low so that I do not shake the house too much and drive everyone insane. Buy Polk!

Strength:

Strong, clean bass, great power

Weakness:

None now

For the last 5 months I have been listening to the PSW 350 using a standard (bad) RCA cable. It sounded a bit boomy, and not as tight as I would have liked. I came to my senses, and bought a Monster Cable interconnect. The differance is night, and day. Now there is no more boomyness, and the sound is tight. This is a great sub.

Strength:

Great deal packaged with the RT55i. (upgraded from 250 to 350 for $50) Tight bass, clean, musical.

Weakness:

None for $50

It took a long time for me to realize just how little a sub needs to be turned up to add amazing depth to music. Too much volume makes music sound muddy and distorted. After about 3 months I finally got the thing placed right and the knobs set where it sounds tight and blended. Someone with more time who isn't a novice should be able to do that much faster. It plays fairly low and very clearly without expensive servo technology (worth it if you have the bucks). I must admit I like the Paradigm PDR-12 a little better, but it's a bigger woofer. I would have no problem recommending this sub to be paired with virtually any speaker setup. Just a tip, make sure everything is nailed down. It will rattle the room.

My first subwoofer at an excellent price. Bought when Polk had the special on where if you buy $579 worth of speakers they throw in the PSW250 for free (or in my case just charge you for the differnce between the 250 & 350). WOW! What a difference a sub makes.

My setup (for now)
RT-25i (mains & surrounds)
CS-245i (center)
PSW350 (sub)
old Pioneer receiver (VSX-9900s or something like that)
Tosh SD6200 DVD

Strength:

Powerful,clear,very musical

Weakness:

small switches hard to get at

I love this sub.. but it still didn't help blend the "shrillness" of my HT setup...
I bought a Yamaha rxv496 at Christmas time to replace our Pioneer Rx-590 pro logic amp that fried a year ago...That amp had a 5-band eq and Super Bass and i gotta say it sounded beautiful pumping sound out of the 150 watt CSR-590's at any volume.
So when i connected the Yamaha reciever and put on some of my Fav tunes.. i was quite disapointed at the sound quality...the power was there...holy s@#t ..very powerful.. but the sound seemed "flat" the bass didn't fill the room like it did with the Pioneer, and when i cranked it up..the mid-range was (and still is even with this sub) so strong and "shrill" it pretty much tore the face right off me!!!
I 've been playing with the bass and treble controls and have it that it's tolerable but on some songs it's just waaaayyy too much mid-range/treble at higher volumes it's almost painful. If i turn the treble down on the amp...the sound becomes unclear and muffled turn it up for clarity.. and it's shrill as hell.
So i bought this sub hoping it would blend and mask the upper frequencies but...even though it DOES sound much better it will never sound as good as my old Pioneer
did.So i'm out 500.00 for the sub...575.00 for the amp(electronics are not cheap in Nova Scotia)and i'm still not happy with my "rip yer face off" mid-range HT setup...
I welcome any and all advice

Strength:

Nice Solid Bass, no boomy, excels with music

Weakness:

humming sound while in standby

The first sub a bought was the SAW-305, and it was horrible. I decided to get a new one. I found at my local Future Shop, a Canadaian shop, they had a Cerwin Vega HTS10 and the Polk PSW 350 for $400 CAN. I decided to go with the Polk and I found this sub to be amazing. It has excellent solid bass and wasn't boomy like my SAW-305. It has a small design, so it can fit any where. By the way, don't be fooled by the 100 watts, it sound a lot more than that. While listening to music, this sub rock. The bass is very solid and begins to hurt my chest after a few minutes of listening at high volumes.
There are a couple of problems. As mentioned in other reviews, if you put the volume to around 3/4 of the way or more, the sub make a humming noise in standby. It's not really bad and can be remedied by lowing the volume of the sub and raising the bass output on your receiver. I also found a very strange problem. I have 3-speed ceiling fan in the room with my home theatre and I keep the sub in the auto on. Each time a put the cord on the fan to change its speed, the sub make a thump sound. I have no idea why, but it does.
This sub is incredible for music and amazing at movies, I suggest it to anyone.
