Strength:

Low distortion, ample power, small profile, and nice appearance.

Weakness:

If you're nitpicky, it has spring clip terminals.

This sub is an excellent performer. I've been in the market for a few years now, and this sub clearly presents the best value for performance. My initial sub was a Yamaha YST-SW45, which I thought was pretty good but didn't have much power. Then I tried the Klipsch KSW10. Its bass was a lot tighter and deeper than the yamaha, but the overall power output was about the same. Finally, I hit paydirt with the Polk PSW350. It totally overshadows the Klipsch. The Polk has almost double the power of the Klipsch (100W RMS vs. 55W RMS) and has 35 watts more peak power (260W vs. 225). The Polk is very clean and smooth, (Thanks to 0.05% THD). It also goes pretty deep. I decided to go with this product when I demoed it in Circuit City and it vibrated my pants. Later, when I installed it, it clogged my ears. HAnds down, go with the Polk. (I got it from Circuit City at $309 pre-tax).

Strength:

Plenty of tight, clean output. Stylish grill. compact design.

Weakness:

None (IMHO)

Had the Velodyne CT100. Way too boomy and the output was rather undesirable. Returned it and spent the better part of a week auditioning various subs. The Polk PSW350 fit the bill as far as price ($150 less than the Velodyne), performance (clean and tight - not "ghetto" and "boomy"), and overall features (LFE, preamp, and speaker level inputs - adjustable x-over). Performs MUCH better in the actual listening room environment than the store display would let you think. Overall - HIGHLY recommended!!

Strength:

Sounds great. Not overpowering. Smooth bass and kicks for home theater. No vibration

Weakness:

None for the money. Even at $350 it is a good deal.

I got this through an employee discount deal. I should've got the PSW450, but this one really does a fantastic job. I have an all polk set-up, and this just matched well. I haven't had any problems with it. It sounds great with music or movies. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Strength:

Reasonable, realistic, obtainable price. Good decent, musical bass. Small size cabinet. Looks good too.

Weakness:

The bass could be tighter.

PSW 350 is sold at Circuit City for $349, so with tax you'll get it out of the door for less than $380. This is an excellent choice for small room or people who want good sound without spending an exuberant amount of money. The bass is clean with very little distortion (the single 10" driver is powered by a 100 RMS amp rated at less than 0.05 THD, yes, 0.05!). Bass is tight and goes into the late 20s Hz (around 28 to 30). I have heard tighter beats, but NONE AT THIS PRICE. I think this is the best choice if your budget is less than $400 and is also looking for one with smaller enclosure for easier placement.

Strength:

Small size, Good looks, non-filtered line-level LFE input

Weakness:

None so far

I bought this as a replacement for the above mentioned JBL which fried itself after only six months (read review). My only regret with this Polk is not buying it in the first place.

It is in the same position as the JBL was and there is no comparison in sound quality. The Polk supplies deeper, tighter bass than the JBL and provides more presence at a lower volume.

Because many receiver sub-outs are already filtered, Polk provided both non-filtered and filtered LFE inputs for this sub to prevent sound distortion related to double filtering the sound. I purchased this as an open box buy from Circuit City for $289 although I would have paid full price for it if they had one new in box.

Strength:

Smooth Powerful Bass, Excellent Construction, Very Efficent Design

Weakness:

It's gonna get me evicted from my apartment before I get a chance to move.

I had been holding off getting a Sub before I planned to move into a new house, but a local electronics store, Douglas TV is changing management and had a HUGE sale. Had the PSW350 on sale for 240 bucks. Listen a little in the store and figured, 240 bucks got to at least try it.

Why didn't anyone tell me this thing could kick. Good lord this thing provides such smooth powerful bass. Not boomy, not strained, just loads and loads of beautiful smooth bass. Enough to shake the walls, windows, dishes, the dog... Be it music or movies, this thing kicks. No harsh or ugly sound. Jazz, Techno, House, Classic, to Rock.. Wonderful!!!!!

I honestly never considered buying one of those more expensive (read $1000) subs, but how much better can they sounds than this.

My system consist of Toshiba HD 55 Inch Big screen, Toshiba 5109 DVD, Sony ES 777 Received, Paradim Monitor 9 Front Speaker, AR 225 Center Channel, AR 226 Rear Speakers and now the Polk Audio PSW350. I could not want anything more.

What makes it better, is that I got the second to last one from Douglas, sadly they will no longer carry Polk.

Strength:

LFE Input; Well Constructed; Auto on/off; Nice exterior finish

Weakness:

Power LED is in the back of the unit instead of the front.

Upgrading from an entry level SONY subwoofer to the Polk PSW350 really proved to be an eye-opener. WOW! Right away I could hear and feel a tremendous difference in my movie viewing experience. Good clean bass from lower to higher listening levels. Very tight and clear, not boomy. When I turned the volume up on the beach invasion of "Saving Private Ryan" it was almost too realistic.

I looked at other subs in the $200.00 to $400.00 price range and this was the best sounding sub I found for the money. I highly recommend it for anyone in search of high quality sub and a limited budget.

Strength:

Sounds tight, accurate and lacks boominess

Weakness:

Buzzing while in stand-by mode (not on)

I'll make this brief.....I love the sound of this subwoofer. It is a very clean sounding unit.
The only problem I have is that when it is in stand-by mode there is an annoying buzz. It does it even when not hooked up to the receiver. The Circuit City clown that I talked to said that my volume was set to high. That is fine BUT...when it is in stand-by, shouldn't it be quiet. When it is on and there is silence in the source, there is no buzz...when it is off, there is no buzz. My salesman from Circuit City was great, but the other clown I talked to acted as though I was an idiot (I may be, but I don't need it brought up constantly :-). Anyway, I think I'll return the sub (and the rest of the Polk set-up that I bought) and get the PSW650 from Crutchfield. If the buzz is common in relation to volume setting, The PSW650 should allow me a lower volume setting and therefore eliminate the problem...I hope.
