Strength:
Low clean sound for music or movies, and very tweekable
Weakness:
none that I can find,or hear. My kids bought me this sub for a birthday present.I told them I needed a sub for My den HT system I was puttin in. I did not expect this. The bass is strong and clear, and in my den it will move things if you let it. On movies the sound is full and deep with no distortion. On music this thing shines. While listining to a Marcus Miller cd(a bass player)this unit kicked ass. From the low bass riffs to the high string plucking the Sony never missed a beat. The volume and frequency control make it easy to set up for your room size.I have it connected using a line in to a Pioneer 510 receiver. |

price, sounds great especially for movies i purchesed the sony sub about a month ago. i think it sounds great especialy for the money.i read that a few of you filled the box with pollyfill, but i sprayed the inside of mine with rubberized undercoating. deffenitly made it tighter for music. if you do this though, be sure to leave the sub out of the box for about a day to grt rid of the fumes. they can eat at the supension on the sub.anyways i have one question, i blew all the outputs in my amp and was wandering if anyone else had that kind of a problem or if something just happened to my amp. thanks Similar Products Used: none |

Size, but what do you expect with a 12 inch cone I have a Sony 5.1 amp and speaker set up with no Sub. 100W to the front two speaker, 35W to the other three. Its pretty loud, but there was something missing. I went to a friends house and watched a film with his set up and was blown away, literally. The difference, a sub. I ummm'd and arrr'd as to was it worth an extra £180 for a speaker. I looked on this site and others to make a choice as to what to buy. Decided on the Sony unit. Strength:
Sony quality at a low price.
Weakness:
None Lots of Boom-Boom. Good looking and easy to setup and use. Auto shutoff is a nice feature. Control knobs are located on the top. If you like a lot of thump-thump this is the subwoofer for you. You can hear throughout the house even second floor. My dog had to leave the room... Great price at broadwaycomputer.com $139.95 good e-mails and delivery in two days UPS. A must buy if your looking for a low priced sub-woofer and if your dog can find a place to hide ! |

Strength:
strong hard hitting bass w/ careful placement, size, deep extended notes, no distortion whatsoever, design is simple yet somewhat sleek, controls w/ convenient placement, easy hookup, mono jack, ext. jack for extra subs, long-throw woofer, reliability, cool running amp, light wt. for it's size, easy to modify/upgrade, auto shut on-off works like a charm, price
Weakness:
crap quality driver, no dampening material, boomy w/ music This is an update of the last review posted. Now that the sub is completely broke-in, it has shown it's true colors!! Mods were made an' its a bit better on music as well. Whether its video games (MGS2), or movies (JP3 & FF), you can't do better than this sub for it's price unless of course you come across a sweet "open item" polk, CV, etc. Be aware that it's advertised as 120W that this is the max output possible, the actual RMS is 90W. As stated, no distortion, you can turn the volume up as pleased but your ears will kill. It sounds great out of the box, and I tell anyone, you can't do better than this!! not known yet HI! I have never owned a home sub before. This is the first one i purchased. I have been a car audio/security installer for over 3 years, but know very little when it comes to home audio. I just purchased the Onkyo Tx-DS595 (5.1 Dolby DTS, Digital, and Dolby Pro Logic 2) today. I am going to set it up all tonite! I am really glad that i read the reviews on this site. I was originally looking at the Acoustic Reference Subs but they were a little pricey. Then happened to see this subwoofer recommended so much. Then i just happened to remember walking past a wall of Sony Home Subs at K's Merchandise the other week, so i called them and sure enough, they had this model for sale! I rushed over to get one and they only had 5 left on the floor. Just 3 days ago, they had almost 30. They way i figure, at the worst i have a decent sub and i can always replace it down the road. ONLY $129. I couldn't even find it that cheap on Ebay or anywhere else. I also bought poly fill and put that on the inside of the sub. Hopefully this will help with the boominess that others spoke of. I will post more after i set this up! Similar Products Used: none |
