    Strength:

Clean, accurate bass. Even at retail price from manufactor, it is good value.

    Weakness:

Size is somewhat of a factor.

Bought this with my Christmas money. Looked at HSU and Velodyne and others. Have it paired with SVS's bookshelf speakers. Have been very pleased. I use it more for classical music. The music that it really shines is pipe organ! Great sound and, used with my Denon 2803, it is great!

    Strength:

Clean, tight, impressive bass down to 20hz.

Subtle, clean looks. Available in 4 colors too.

SVS has an excellent reputation for support. An American company that still does a lot of domestic manufacturing, for you patriots out there.

    Weakness:

Some complain about the large size but there are larger subs, you just have to measure and plan for the space this thing will consume.

In order to minimize costs, SVS only has an LFE input for the PB10-ISD's design. You have to rely on your receiver to handle the crossover.

Thank you, audioreview.com, for putting those SVS ad banners on your web pages. I never thought that I'd say something like that, but without the ad I never would have found SVS.

I was itching to get a sub for my home theater system and had some discretionary $ to spend. My sub-less system actually performed admirably for years, (front L&R speakers did really well down to 40hz), even with action/scifi movies, but I knew that there was more "theater" to be experienced.

I came really close to buying the Hsu STF-2, also advertised on this site, and also considered Athenas, Polks, Mirage Omni, low-end Velodynes and Carver/Sunfire. You probably can't go wrong with any of them. If cash is the major issue, the Athenas are probably the best value. Between some online reviews and some basic cost/performance comparisons, I decided to go with the SVS and spend more money than originally planned.

No regrets whatsoever. In fact, as I use it more it truly does seem to 'break in' and perform better. Extremely accurate and powerful, true to its specs. Awesome.

I haven't done any worthwhile testing with music yet, but am not concerned. In fact, it should only increase my appreciation.

    Strength:

    1) An excellent value for an HT sub. I am listening in one-half of a 14' x 28' living room and the sub makes the entire room shake. AMAZING FOR HT.

    2) The standard white finish is a better finish than the Brittex black finish on the REL Strata III. Plus the white finish blends in with the white walls of the room

    3) I cannot comment on the subs performance for music. I own a full-range pair of stereo speakers (VMPS RM40s) for music. The sub is used only for HT .1 applications.

    Weakness:

Not a weakness, but just a comment. I wished SVS offered the PB10 in a wood grain finish. I would have been willing to pay extra money for that option.

An excellent home theater sub for those with small to medium size rooms. An extrememly good value. In the past I owned 2 REL Strata III subs and the output of two REL Strata III subs does not equal the HT output of a single SVS sub. This is amazing considering that the SVS sells for ~$430 and the REL Strata III used to retail for ~$1200 EACH!'

IF YOU PURCHASE A SUB FOR <$500 IN STORES YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER SUB FOR HT!

I looked at subwoofers and the chains and the typical weight of a <$500 sub is generally ~49 lbs. The SVS PB10 weighs in at 60 lbs. due to its large cabinet (necessary to produce deep bass) and an extremely well-made driver.

    Customer Service

I have not used it so I cannot comment.

    Strength:

Everything. It goes low and deep, it is loud, it has very smooth response, it is articulate yet dynamic, it clips softly, it blends in well with other equipment, it is a great value.

    Weakness:

The cabinet is VERY deep and REALLY sticks out in a room. It is HUGE and HEAVY for a 10" sub and you cannot hide this monster. If you want a sub that you won't "see" in your room, this is not for you.

Everything said about this product by everyone here, and by all the published reviews (they can be accesed from SVS website) are 100% true. Just look at the technical specifications and measurements performed in controlled lab conditions. This product beats other products costing 2 to 3 times as much, and certainly beats many other 15" driver products hands down. Most important of all, it blends in well with main speakers and it SOUNDS/FEELS good. You will save $ because you get so much for what you paid for and you will be happy with this purchase. I am buying a 2nd unit to even out standing waves in my listening space.

    Strength:

clean, effortless and deep bass in an attractive enclosure with a very generous price!

    Weakness:

    NONE!

I waited anxiously to recieve the product that I have been reading reviews on for the past two months! I took specifications off of several brands of subs and ran with it . I was looking for the "bang for the buck" syndrome. I purchased Sound and Vision's 2006 buyers guide. I gave myself a budget of a grand to fill the subwoofer spot in my setup. I figured that should get me a decent start on a REAL subwoofer anyway. So I went to the 3 audio salons in my area (excluding BB and CC,of course) The first item I looked at was the paradigm pw2200. It looked o.k. I just could not get the person working in the otherwise empty store to let me take a listen to ANYTHING! So, I left very proturbed!! I also checked out velodyne's dls-5000 and klipsch's rw-12. then I bought the buyers guide! ah ha! It broke down like this, paradigm claims it plays down to 18 hz. the velodyne plays to 23 hz and the klipsch plays to 21 hz! Then I saw it in the buyers guide!! SVS PB10-ISD. plays down to 18hz. I checked out the company on the net,and even talked to Eric that guy talked me through everything I needed to know about SVS. I didn't call, get put on hold and have to listen to elevator music for half an hour. The phone rang 3 times and I got to talk to a HUMAN!! Un flippin' believable!!! Props to Eric! So, with everything I readand 45 day money back guarantee, I went for it! I recieved my package on 4-4-06. I purchased this product to replace my velodyne cht-12. I went down in woofer size so, I figured that I would lose a little spl for frequency range, fine by me (trade off) I unpacked this thing and it was just as big if not bigger than my velodyne! I set it in the same spot set it up as instructed. Kicked back and fired up some music. I was simply dumbfounded! This product was not only deeper but also LOUDER and very very clean and articulate!! I could not get the ridiculous grin off of my face!! Time for movies. This is what I mainly use my setup for. I put in Matrix Reloaded. With my velodyne set at about 1/3 volume no matter where at in the movie that deep bass shut my sub off! They call it an excursion protection circuit. In my book I call it "LAME" In effect every time it came to one of those parts I winced waiting for it to shut down. Never happend! and boy did it shake the room, definitly sub-sonic. From a 10" woofer! I was and still am blown away by it . I have owned this product for 6 days now. Last night I ran through calibration again and my woofer broke in enough to produce an extra 4 db!!!! All from a 10" woofer, according to audio lore a 10" woofer pushes 40% less air! I had 3 buddies come over that evening. they were all chomping at the bit to see what SVS was all about. One of which was pretty much deadlocked into a pw2200 (he got a demo!) I showed them 100 mile dash from the incredibles. They all watched, eyes wide open and mouths dropped. This sub also gave me an very complete 3 dimensional emmersion into the program material. It has got to be the cleanliness of the bass. I am in awe of this product. If you have any doubts, put them behind you! I spent less than half of my self alloted budget and it sounds like I spent a GREAT deal more! As for my buddy that was interested in that pw2200, I assure you that thought will not enter his mind EVER again. TO sum it all up in three words, Pure Audio Dynamite! In my opinion, It blows every sub I have heard away with authority. The sound and build quality is nothing short of exellent! Last of all you get to talk to humans that know all about the products they make. a truly win,win situation!!!!!!

    Strength:

Price, quality woofer, BASS! Price was $479 shipped.

    Weakness:

    None at this price.

Bought the sub to replace my DIY Rockford Fosgate subwoofer running off of a NAD 2700 THX stereo amp in bridged mode. The SvS PB10-ISD is everything you could ever want and not just because it's a budget subwoofer. Don't let that fool you. In a normal sized room it's plenty of bass for almost anyone. Unless you want hearing damage, which SvS can easily supply with some of their higher end subs, this PB10 supplies plenty of bass. It's low and hits harder than Best Buy or Circuit City subs that cost at least $500-800. Don't let the price fool you, trust me. This little ten shakes walls. This sub gives you what you've been missing.....quality lows. Most subs can give you good 40 hz bass but hardly any cheap sub can give you 20 hz bass.

    Strength:

Amazing sound. Amazing value. Well built. Great service.

    Weakness:

    For under $400 ??? NOTHING!!

Main benefit of this review is a testament to the cabinet quality of even a B-stock unit. It's beautiful !! And as much as most reviews comment on how heavy these things are, I found the 65 lbs awkward but not a problem. Maybe being 6'4" and 205 lbs helps. For it's size, I actually thought it to be surprisingly light. The unit is very solid and well built, but not really heavy duty. I wouldn't stand on it. I added this sub to a Yamaha GX500 mini component system. Save your snickers. This is the most beautiful mini-system I've ever seen or heard short of Bang and Olefson's. The amp and CD electronics are particular good quality. The speakers are nice too, but they are the bottleneck. There is a sub-out crossed over at a non-adjustable 200hz. Not where I want it to be for my Axioms, but it works. I'm not an experienced bass head, but I certainly know the difference between an audiophile sub and anything that can be found at generic stores like Best Buy or Circuit City. There is no doubt that NOTHING availalable at such mainstream stores can compare to this. None of that monotone mid-bass drone that polutes the air of such stores. This is a very musical sub on Beethovan's 9th - revealing drums and Bass cello like I've never heard at home before, but always craved. Ice Age and the Matrix. What an adrenalin rush !!! I found myself clutching the cushions of the couch in a bit of instinctive fear during my favorite Matrix scene - Neo and Trinity rescue Morpheus. Even my double stuffed couch was punching me. THE POWER... But it sounds so effortless. I can't come close to detecting any limits to this box.

    Strength:

Deep, low extension below 20Hz proven. Powerful (300W Bash amp). Apparently cabinet designed correctly for the driver, with no tradeoffs for size. At $439, this is a heck of a deal for a giant-killer.

    Weakness:

It's a "big 'un." But from what I've read, the designers did not compromise on sound, hence the large volume.

Kinda bigger than I thought! Spouse Approval Factor kinda low due to size, but I got the Tan model which blends in well with our leather couch and wood floor and walls. My spouse did not notice it standing 2 feet from it! Very well built. Alot of quality built and designed into this unit. Ran TrueRTA on it after quickly setting levels on my Onkyo receiver. Response definitely goes below 20Hz! Subjectively it kinda sounds tight, but not sealed box type of tight. For HT it definitely rocks. Far better than my Infinity. Right now it's against the middle of a long wall, not an ideal place, but when the room remodeling is done, it will have it's own niche in the corner with a purpose-built enclave in a built-in wall length, floor-to-ceiling bookshelf. Should sound even better and louder then.

    Strength:

Price!!!! Pure power!!!!Plays down to 19HZ try to find a sub for 400 bucks that can do that!!!!

    Weakness:

NO built in crossover. But if you have a Dolby 5.1 reciever its no problem most have one built in.

SVS has done a superior job on this product. When the box first arrived I could not believe the size of it. MY heart pounded as I opened it. Looking at the very cool black finish I pulled the sub from the box. Well lets just say me and a buddy craned the sub out. This little guy is heavy. 65lbs to be exact. Let me tell you that you need that weight to keeep this thing in place. This PB10 hits hard and wants you to know it!!!! You would swear there is another sub hidden in the box. I had to check to make sure!!! Setup was a breeze with well written instructions. Big rubber gain and phase knobs turn very nice. You can turn the knobs in very small adjustments to fine tune the little guy. The sub plays very clean and loud on any type of music or movies. Not boomy or muddy. IM most impressed with the Blueman Group live in Vegas DVD. The intro song just blew me away. The striking of the huge Bass drum was so accurate. You could hear the stick crackling and striking and rumbling the drum itself. The whole room shook. Now I know I need windows because they rattled like thunder was in the sky. I also was impressed with the Cannon ball scenes in Master and Commander. Pure brute force is all I can say!!!!! For the money this sub blows everything out of the water. Its like a small cannon in the corner of you room. This sub will impress anyone who listens to it. Go with SVS and you cant go wrong.
