Very good sub for under $500.00 range, works well with other speakers. i have a b&w dm601 s2,cc6 s2 and an onkyo 575x receiver and they are a perfect match especially on ht or just plain listening. so if you are in the market for a sub the ct-100 is highly recommended and you wont regret it.

Strength:

One of the top subs at this price point; very good with music- you just need to set your phase and crossovers just right- room placement doesn't hurt either

Weakness:

The MDF finish is nice, but a more lacquered finish would have been nicer

Fortunately, I attended med school in the U.S., only a few blocks from Circuit City, where I auditioned a few subs like many others here. I also auditioned my freind's HSU Research, which sounds very nice as well. I was quite impressed with the Velodyne's ability to go down quite deep for a 10" sub, and the quality of the bass was very good as well. The bass coming out of the Velodyne sounded better suited to music than the other subs at C.C. This sub, to me, does sound very good with most music (I don't use it for HT yet), and the bass is tight and quick. You've got to play around with location, as well as the phase and crossover controls to get your desired sound out of the Velo. I don't think there are too many other equal or better choices for around $400 U.S.

Strength:

Sounds great! Seems to be built solidly.

Weakness:

None so far

I recently purchased this sub as an open box deal from Circuit City. I got the sub and the Circuit City extended warrantee for $389. I highly recommed that anyone look for an open box deal on this sub. The sub is a great buy at $429 but it is even better if you can find it for cheaper.

I have this sub hooked up to a Denon AVR2800 along with some older Infinity SM112s (fronts), SM65s (rears) and SMcenter. When I first bought the Denon receiver, I noticed that it lacked the bass that my older Sony had. I tried this subwoofer and everything changed! I have a medium to large size listenning room. I took me an evening or so, but once I got everything configured, it sounds great! The sub outputs enough bass to completely fill the listenning room. It is loud enough at times that I am concerned about complaints from the neighbors! I highly recommend this piece of equipment.

Strength:

Deep, tight sounding bass (not muddy sounding), no audible distortion, even at very loud volumes with any DVDs I've played so far, well built, excellent price/performance.

Weakness:

None that I'm aware of!

I've owned only two other subs, a Yamaha and a Cerwin-Vega as mentioned above. The Yamaha showed it's weakness when I upgraded from DPL to DD, the Cerwin-Vega handled the DD/DTS soundtracks without any audible distortion/clipping but sounded boomy, not so with the Velodyne CT-100. Although more expensive than the Yamaha or the Cerwin-Vega, it's still a bargain for such a high quality product. My home theater is set up in my basement and this thing almost rocks the foundation! Highly recommemded.

Strength:

Everything, this is without a doubt the best subwoofer I have ever heard for the money!

Weakness:

Hah!! Are you crazy! not on this subwoofer

Well to make a long review short lets just say that this subwoofer is awsome! For the money there is no other sub like it.It has incredible lows that make it especially nice for home theatre. If you are looking for a subwoofer for under 1000 dollars, then this is the one for you! It can be used with virtually any home audio system and blends nicely with a wide range of speakers. Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a pair of these. You wont regret it!
