Strength:
Looks ok
Weakness:
Not for HT No one had the sony in town so I setteled on this. It might be ok for music only but was lacking for movies. Tryed moving it all over the place and never was happy. Found the Sony and with out any problem got just what I wanted. This is an over priced POS. I think that 8'' is just too small (in all respects). Strength:
Cheap, cheerful - does the job intended
Weakness:
very low freqs at volume a bit nasty Great price, easy to set up. No playing around with the setting everytime you change DVD's/CD's. Not too big, but big enough to look like it can do the job. I've got this married with AE109's and 107centre for Home cinema. I've got the highcut set to 75hz and it seems to blend in well with the 109's when needed. I've got a big living room, and volume set at half way is effective without being annoying. |

Strength:
Size, sound blending, control, price
Weakness:
Not as tight as some subs same size, placement very difficult. I wanted a small sub at a cheap price to finish off the speaker setup I have now until I could save enough $ for a matched system. This sub fit in perfectly. I am using it with an Onkyo 575x, Yamaha NSA-835's (the last good ones), Yamaha center and Realistic surrounds. By running the front speakers at small and letting the sub take all the lows I was able to create a seamless transition between the 2 when running music or video. Placement was a bit difficult - this sub is really touchy to corner loading. Sound is very powerfull considering size and power - suprised me very much for a sub at this price. Strength:
Very Powerful solid bass especially once passed the half way line! Will do the lows I thought it wouldn't once my setup was done right.
Weakness:
Will go LOW but not lower than 30hz i've found. Placement is quite difficult. Sorry about my last review. I hadn't set the sub up correctly to blend in with the rest of my sound system. Now I get the full potential out of this sub. When blasted over the half way volume point will really shake pretty much the whole house if positioned correctly. I had the sub under a desk and now I've re-positioned it to my far corner of my listening room and it really shines! Even at lower volumes you can still hear it boosting the rest of the system and taking the lows nicely! Similar Products Used: None! |

Strength:
Excellent on music and on THX bass tests. works well with all speakers types
Weakness:
The frequency range. And has to be positioned well. I have had trouble getting Super bass (I mean SUPER BASS when you can feel it in your chest and bones) out off this unit, Had it under a desk Not so good. got the sub outside the main speakers with the sub back facing me, It's excellent. Got to position it in the corner of the room. the further away for the sub the better (I think) must also leave some space between the sub and the wall though. |

Strength:
small size, price, phase switch, sturdy construction
Weakness:
sounds bad at very low frequencies at high volume, positioning For the money I don't think you'll find a better sub to enhance the bass frequencies of your favorite music. I've tested it with everything from Mozart to Marylin Manson. Sometimes the kick bass in some rock music sounds a little too punchy. |

Strength:
Compact, tall, but thin, sounds great, works reliably.
Weakness:
Doesn't handle the extreme lows at high volumes (without sounding a little nasty). I picked this unit up from Best Buy for $219 to serve as a compliment to my 150 watt Infinity down-firing sub in my living room's home theater system. Similar Products Used: Infinity, JBL, KLH. |

Strength:
strong tight bass, plays very low, right placement causes rumble, good price, nice sleek design, controls placed for convenience... 80W? sounds understated... woofer does not distort as east like most do, and it's a spruce cone, auto "on" and "off" switch
Weakness:
8" woofer, could play lower, no "movie"/"music" switch This sub has won me over from all of the options I've had. The only woofer to hit as tight as this one was the other Yamaha. No other woofer was as easy to place as this one. As far as "movie theater-type" bass that shakes and rumbles rooms/walls, you'll have to look into a JBL or Sony. This one was exactly priced to meet my needs and to live up to it's specs. I have a room which is 15'x15', and it is filled with rich bass. This would work in a small to medium room, but don't even think about a large room... you'll have to get two. The banana plugs/binding post are well suited for speaker attachments. I plan on skipping Sony's SAW-M40 and keeping this one. For 80W on an 8", it's as much as I'll need, and I even listen to rap and hip-hop, so that says enuff as far as lovin' lotsa' bass. Strength:
Not too rumbly, clean for music at normal volumes, fits well in tight spaces
Weakness:
Auto-off: it just sits and hums, won't go auto-on I've been watching movies for years without a subwoofer, so I don't feel the need to rumble my house apart. I also listen to music 10x as much as watch any TV so I was looking for something that would work best for music. I also wanted to hide it. This all being said, I am pretty impressed with how low and loud it goes for HT, and it works very well for music. I am very satisfied with it. My system is: Similar Products Used: JBL PB10 |

I have this Amp for almost a month for $250 form Best Buy, so far it's still an excellent amp for me. Some people were complaining about no sound coming out and I had the same problem before. Finally I found out the auto power save mode was not functioning right. For some DVD like rambo I, the signal was not detected and the Amp was completely shuted off. Then I turn the auto mode to off position and the base came out loud and clear. |
