Strength:

tight and punchy

Weakness:

havn't found one yet (only had it a week and still amazed)

probably wouldn't hurt to get another one for that ultimate gut desired punch

but one is doing its job very well indeed

Strength:

Extremely powerful for the money, slim design, front firing. Brilliant for music only listeners.

Weakness:

Positioning a bit tricky, frequency doesnt quite go low enough. Not suited to HT.

Very powerful piece of kit for the money. Fairly slim and tall so can easily be laid down on the floor so it can be placed relatively easily, this a plus side as positioning this sub is difficult to get the sound right.
The main problem with this sub is its innability to hit very low frequencies, fortunately I dont have this problem as in my set up its connected to an Aiwa XH-A100 which has built in subs in its speakers which are limited to very low frequencies only, so the sub and Aiwa complement each other very nicely kicking out over 1000watts in total!
If your a fan of music or if you have a system that needs a boost and dont bother with HT then I would recommend you the Yamaha YST-SW90 without any hesitation, its also fairly cheap which is a bonus to say the least.

Connected to either an Aiwa XH-A1000 or Technics SA-AX6 receiver, SLPG 490 CD player and Mordaunt Short Floorstanders.

Strength:

Man, the bass is tight tight tight: outstanding for music!

Weakness:

Man, the bass is tight tight tight: bad for Home theater

This is the only sub I've come across (at least in the under $300 range) that seems entirely designed for music. The bass is tighter than a uh err (keep it G rated Maxwell) let's just say that it is sharp as a tack.

But for HT, that big dramatic rumble effect just ain't there. If you can afford two subs (one for music, one for HT this sub would be ideal). I have recently become a huge fan of Yamaha audio (check out my glowing review of the HTR5240 receiver and A638 main speakers) but I opted on the Sony sub because I needed that rumble factor for HT. Plus, she is a little pricy as compared to other (somewhat) comparable subs so one star off for that.

Well, I have sampled subs from KLH and settled on the Sony SAWM40, but the Yamaha is really in a class by itself.
