I am more than delighted with our speaker purchase. Admittedly I have heard speaker systems that sounded better but they were huge towers and priced closer to that of a car than a bicycle. Would I bet they're worth twice what I paid? Maybe, maybe not, but I'm normally not a gambling man (set by my wife). I would recommend them to anyone looking for a complete set of speakers for less than a grand

Strength:

powerful performance, gut rattling bass, excellent tone quality, small speaker size

Weakness:

brackets can be slightly tricky

First of all, I would never have purchased the T70 system if it weren't for the reviews I read on this site. So, to the website and the reviewers - thanks.

I bought this system sight unseen (or is that sound unheard?) only after reading the reviewers who had done the same and had positive results. I've been a musician my whole life, so my acoustic awareness is somewhat over-developed, making me a constant annoyance to friends who buy discount stereo systems which sound like utter crap. And I was ready to be less than overwhelmed by a speaker system which costs less than $1000.

All I can say is I completed the set up yesterday, using a Yamaha RX-V995 for my receiver. I have the Mozart playing as I type, and I couldn't be happier. The bass is full, rich and textured, as is the mid-range. The treble is crisp and lively but never tinny or harsh. Furthermore, I was equally enthusiastic about the T70's handling of Sublime, Snoop Dogg, Phish, and Miles Davis - it handles them all and brings out nuances I'd never detected before. Why some reviewers felt this system doesn't deliver quality musical performance is totally beyond me. Maybe their receivers don't work, maybe they need to use more q-tips. Who knows? But I'm telling you, I'm a picky listener, and this system did it for me.

As for movies, you need look no further. The obligatroy Matrix litmus test rattled the television, so I had to adjust the sub. And then, bliss! The bullet-shells raining down around me, the explosions shaking the floor - all just too damned much! I loved it. And Fight Club shook my neighbor's pictures. Success. This system creates a virual world of sound which (much to my neighbors' chagrin) rocks the block.

If you're looking for a speaker system that will surpass your expectations while meeting your budget, here you go.

And I have to say, if you're looking to help a big corporation with their glossy advertizing campaign, hand your money over to Bose.

Strength:

Small, affordable, build quality, sound, home theater audio is outstanding.

Weakness:

None!!

I purchased this system blind, meaning I did not listen or audition before my purchase. I read reviews on this system and was very impressed. This little package had a lot to live up to. The T70 performs very well. I believe I got a great deal from www.onecall.com. The system I purchased included the T70 with an Onkyo TX-DS696. Onecall will definately get my business again. It arrived as described in two big boxes. The sub in one box and the receiver and sats in the other. The packing was excellent so there would be no way to damage the items. The first DVD I watched was of course U-571. I went straight to the 15th chapter: Depth Charged. My first thought was this sub is only a 10". My second thought was damn I can't understand why people need much more than this. I guess too much is just right. What a great addition to rebuilding my home theater. My budget was set at $1800 for receiver, speakers, cables, speaker stands and TV stand. This fit perfectly in my budget. I believe if Atlantic Technology had more local retailers, they would make a killing. This system is primarily used for HT and TV watching. I'm not really into music, but that too sounds great to me.

I rate the value as a 5+ considering I got an Onkyo 696 receiver and the T70 for $1360 including shipping.

Strength:

Wide soundstage and truly stunning imaging

Weakness:

Step up to T90 if you prefer bigger and louder

My early impression of the T70 is that it has more weight than its size would suggest. I can’t believe all that quality sound is coming from the tiny speakers. The system truly reproduces excellent, low distortion sound with dynamics and clarity far beyond its size and price. Its ability to locate instruments between the speakers is good, with a fairly deep soundstage. In Saving Private Ryan, the sound from front to back and side-to-side pans were almost perfectly seamless with images placed precisely around the room. The sub performed admirably during this high-energy movie, with plenty of deep bass. Dialogue intelligibility was crisp and clear. The new TriVector surrounds offer a level of involvement that surprises me. Overall, it has pleasant tonal balance. I agree Saint, a 5 star performance and value.

Movie dialogue is crisp and clear and special effects sound fantastic.Delivers a punchy home-cinema performance that's high on excitement

I have taken several home theater systems for a test drive, but keep coming back to Atlantic Technology. I listen to music (50%), Home Theatre(50%). So I wanted to look for a full set of speakers that could do an adequate job on both for under two grand including a receiver. After auditioning several very good systems based on imaging, accuracy, clean, soundstage and bass, I came to conclude the following:
1. 1. AT T70 – 5 stars for performance and value – love the soundstage
2. Energy Take 5 – 4 stars on performance, 5 stars on value (pity no 5.2 to audition!!)
3. Def Tech Pro100.6 – 4.5 stars on performance, 3.5 stars on value – love the bass
4. Gallo micro-nucleus - 4 stars on performance, 3.5 stars on value, Love the size, high on wife acceptance factor
5. B&W (602's-front channel, 601's-rear, a CC6 center, and a AS6 sub), - 5 stars on performance, 3 stars on value - awesome sound but too big and costly for me
6. Klipsch quintet – 4 stars on performance, 5 stars on value
7. Energy encore - 4.5 stars on performance, 4 stars on value - nice looking and very tight
8. KEF KHT 2005 – 4 stars on performance, 4 stars on value
9. NHT superones (5 S-Ones, Energy EXL 10)- 5 stars on performance and value - very musical and excellent on imaging

I narrowed my choice down to two systems. AT T70 and NHT Superones.
There is not much to say between these 2 excellent systems…But I went for the AT T70 because of the better tonal balance, crisp dialogue from centre speaker and the smaller size (high wife acceptance factor!!)

What can I say except that this T70 speaker set (combined with the Denon AVR1602 we purchased) sounds fantastic. Movie dialogue is crisp and clear and special effects sound fantastic. The 10" sub is plenty for our living room (about 18'x15'). We feel like we are in the middle of the action of any movie.

These speakers have delivered sound from our CD's that we have never heard before. It feels like we are in the middle of a sound stage at a live concert.

The best comment came from my wife, "Realistic cinematic sound for such a small package,!" My son kept watching Toy Story 2 countless time!!!.

Setting it all up is, on the whole, pretty simple. If you want, you can toy with the sub's crossover frequency and phase switch (especially if the speakers are placed well away from the sub) to discover its optimum performance level
Once up and running, the system delivers a punchy home-cinema performance that's high on excitement. The speakers really do push the sound out into the room and, if you like the feeling of having the sound coming at you from all angles, you'll love this system.

This budget speaker system is one of the best (if not the best) sub/sat that I have to come audition an recent a proud owner of one. They deliver an attacking surround sound performance. Really good value for money too.

Strength:

Compact size, but powerful. Clean sound, great bass.

Weakness:

None that I can see or hear.

Before I bought the system, I didn't hear the speakers. But I read good reviews (above) and took Onecall's suggestion. I didn't want to spend an arm and leg for brand new speakers. I was mainly in the market for subcompact speakers so I could get rid of my large columns.
I have no regrets! They are very impressive.
Their small size can be misleading. I have the level set almost the same as I did with my huge column speakers previously used, and they still crank. Its unbelievable. I've watched Vertical Limit a few times on this system with the sub turned on, and one day forgot to turn it on. I didn't realize it until the end of the movie.

My system includes: Harmon Kardon AVR65, Panasonic DVD K510, Energy Subwoofer ES10

Strength:

Small size, build quality, HT performance

Weakness:

Expensive, poor music performance, low sensitivity (85db)

I bought these after reading the reviews here, marketing hype at Atlantic Technology web site and one industry review. Basically, blindly without first listening to them first. There were no local dealers that I could go to and listen. I did listen to the ProCinema 80 but they were $200 more. So I bought these from SoundCity. After breaking these in for a few hours (not the recommended 30-40 hours), they sounded good playing DVDs on my Sony STR-DB940. However, they were very poor in reproducing stereo music. They didn't even compare to my cheap old JBL 2-way speakers.
So, after 2 weeks I sent them back and started looking for something better. My advice is, please LISTEN to the speakers before you buy them. SoundCity sales rep (Matt Montesano, who by the way is a delight to deal with) recommended PSB speakers. Again, there are no local dealers. So on the advice of a reviewer here and some industry reviews, I listened to the Def Tech BP2006TL at a local dealer, and immediately fell in love with those. A few weeks later I bought a Def Tech HT speaker package (BP2006TL mains, C2 center, BP1X surrounds) for about $1550. I believe I get more than twice the performance with this setup compared to the bottom of the line AT system.
I had orginally been looking to add a SONY surround add on to my existing JBL. However, after the T70 experience, I did not want to go the low end route. But, if I were looking to purchase new speakers today, I would seriously consider the Sony SS-MF515 floor standing mains ($260/pr)and SS-CR490 center/surrounds ($150) for about $400 total. And for even more bass, I would add the Sony SA-WM40 12" powered sub for $150-$200. For around $600 this is heck of a deal, and about $1000 less than my Def Tech setup (which I am stuck with, and very happy with it nonetheless). One interesting note on the Def Techs: my wife prefers the sound of the JBL's over the Def Techs. I also think the JBL's sound warmer with it's bigger woofer. However, my Def Tech's aren't fully broken in yet either.
So the bottom line is: althought the T70 is a high quality speaker system, I would either look at their higher end systems or better yet, get much better peforming Sony system (according to reviews here and personally listening to them at Best Buy)for half the cost. One final note, with the T70 speakers you would need to spend another $100 for a good speaker stand for the main left and right front speakers. I would put that $100 towards floor standing mains such as the Sony 515 or Def Tech BP2006TL, instead of a passive component which still takes up just as much or more floor space as floor standing speakers.
