Strength:

Great bass, good midrange

Weakness:

A little boomy if not tamed

Outstanding value. Bought packaged w/ karman kardon avs500 receiver for only $1100 total! (They've already bumped the package price by about $100. Found them priced seperately for $775 at soundpros).

Listened to a few systems and read countless reviews before throwing caution to the wind and pouncing on this deal. Glad I did. Surround sound is wonderful. About 95% of my listening is movies, so that's the basis I used for comparison. The 5th element was crisp and clear through highs and mids. U-571 depth charges rattled the walls with the booming bass of the 10" sub. The Klipsch and the Take 5 both souded a bit bright. The Mirage was a close second choice, though. The T70 just pumps out more sound more clearly than the other systems.

Sure, if you want to spend more, I'm sure you can do better. At this price, though, I just couldn't pass these up - and I'm glad I didn't.

The sound for music is very good (I use the 5 channel effect on the Denon for music), though not quite at the level of DVD perfomance. Basically, the better the recording quality, the better the speakers sound. The only negative with these speakers is that they're just too damn good, particularly the subwoofer which is a beast straining at its leash, just wanting to be let loose. They sound great at low values but the louder you turn them up, the more you're stunned by the performance. Why is this a negative? Well, it's not really, but I live in an apartment. At half volume, the bass is a palpable force, let alone higher (I've had my downstairs neighbors pounding on my door, saying their walls were shaking, and that was a little over half volume). If you live in an apartment building, you will never really be able to put the true power of the system through its paces. I've tried to be moderate and they still may get me evicted.

I am using now using them with a Denon AVR 3300 receiver.
The sound for movies is absolutely stunning. For example, "Saving Private Ryan" (the DTS version) is incredible (bombs literally shake room, bullets whiz by your ears, you can feel the ground vibrations of the tanks). The music sequences in "The Yellow Submarine" are a revelation; you've never heard the Beatles sound so good (or noticed all the details of the recordings).

I've had these for five months and I truly don't believe you can find better speakers for the price.

This system is clear and loud. The speakers sound mature, their not bright or agressive for 90hz handling. They sound very composed as if they're actually larger. The SUB picks up seamlessly where the satelites crossover.

The imaging is excellent for stereo.

The "sound stage", the acoustic perception of the sound's source, is remarkably real and wide. The attack of the bongos is right on. Cymbals sound like cymbals and are bright without being overbearing. Bass licks flow ever so accurately and tightly through the tunes. Bass performance can be tricky to adjust in a sub woofer for one like me who is new in adjusting "cross over" frequencies and output. But once tweaked, the results are worthwhile. Horn fidelity is so accurate, I feel I can shake hands with the trombone players. Female vocals are a challenge to any speaker. I was imagining that Avance's Ester Godinez was going to ask me to dance during one of the tracks. In fact, all vocalists sound clear and distinct despite a background of driving melodies and compelling rhythms. When volume was turned up the sound merely got louder rather than assaulting the listener with speaker distortion. Turned down, the response remained fairly "flat." Flat is a good term when describing speakers. It means that all audible frequencies are reproduced equally rather than favoring middle frequencies over highs and lows. This is typical in lesser systems when volume is decreased to lower than normal listening levels. You don't want surprises from your speakers when you change the volume and I'm pleased to report these speakers don't sneak up on you.

Strength:

Highest fidelity 5.1 sub/sat system for the money

Weakness:

Subwoofer could have been better

Speaker technology may not move as quickly as that of other audio components but listening to Atlantic Technology's T70 speakers certainly moves those who hear them.
My purchase of the Atlantic Technology's T70 set is a culmination of a long period of research and a lot of trekking between sound rooms at audio retailers. The speakers were chosen based on criteria ranging from maximum size (set by my wife), a budget (set by my wife), and sound quality (I had some input here). Specifically, our need was a system capable of full Dolby Digital "5.1" output.
After weeks of reading magazines and consulting the web, I had narrowed my search to a manageable number of makes and models.
The Atlantic Technology's T70 met all my criteria easily but it was their performance that endeared us to them. As much as we liked the Energy Encore/Take 5 system, we both agreed the Atlantic Technology's T70 sounded "fuller" and had more accuracy in the low end despite a smaller sub-woofer speaker. The Definitive Technology's speakers responded well and behaved as expected to my adjustments.

The Atlantic Technology's T70 is the lowest priced Sat-Sub speaker set in Atlantic Technology's HT line.
My receiver is DenonAVR 1602, a 70watt per channel unit with discrete amplification on all channels. This low distortion receiver/amplifier is more than capable of driving any home-based speaker system.

SOUND IS VERY EVEN AND FULL, NOT A BUDGET BUSTER

Weakness:

SO FAR SO GOOD

THIS WAS A BLIND PURCHASE READ A LOT OF REVIEWS LISTEN TO SEVERAL HIGHLY RATE SPEAKER SYSTEM. I LIKED THE ENERGY TAKE 5 AND EVEN WAS SURPRISE THAT THE ENTRY LEVEL BOSE SYSTEM WAS NOT BAD AS THE REVIEWS. MY WIFE OK'D TO SPEND ONLY TWO GRAND SO I NEED EVERYTHING BUT T.V. FOR THAT PRICE. ALL THE REALLY NICE SPEAKERS WERE TWO OR THREE GRAND AND I STILL NEED SOMETHING TO PLAY THEM WITH. SO THAT IS WHY I JUMP ON THIS SET ON SALE WITH RECIEVER AND DVD. I MUST ADMIT WAS SCARED TO DEATH BUYING ONLINE THAT I MADE A HORRIBLE MISTAKE.THANK THE HEAVEN THIS IS ONE GOOD SOUND SET.THE HIGH'S CRISP AND CLEAR AND NOT FALSE EVEN WITH OUT CRANKING UP THE POWER. THE BASS SEEM TO ME TO BE A BIT BOOME (IS THAT A WORD) I READ THAT A SOUND METER WAS REALLY NECASSARY TO GET THE OPTIMUM IN SOUND QUALITY. BEING IN APARTMENT WITH THE L SHAPE LIVING DINING ROOM AND SLIDING GLASS DOOR ALONG THE OTHER WALL I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TRULY HEAR THE BEST THESE SPEAKER HAVE TO OFFER. BUT FOR THE MONEY AND IF YOU HAVE SPACE ISSUES LIKE MIND.I TRULY FEEL I COULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN ANY BETTER THAN THESE T 70.OH AND MY KIDS SAY THEY REALLY FEEL IT WHEN THEY PLAY DR. DRE OR EMINIM (RAP PLEASE GO AWAY) AND THE WIFE EVEN WATCH BLADE TWICE.SO IF BUDGET OR SPACE ARE CONSIDERATION LISTEN TO THESE IF YOU CAN FIND THEM I COULDN'T SO I TOOK A CHANCE AND
I WON.

rich sound. Good bass. Price can't be beat

Weakness:

As some kind of a student most of my life, I've always had hand-me-down piecemeal audio/visual symstems. Now in my first year of being a full fledged attending physician, I could finally buy a decent audio system.

Like the previous reviewer, I listened to alot of systems, including the Bose lifestyle, Sony, etc. On the reccommendation of a friend--and on blind faith, I ordered the AT T70 with the Onkyo 676 online. I too was scared to death that I made a big mistake ordering speakers that I have never listened to.

I could not be happier with the system... The highs are crisp and clear and the lows are thunderous. You do however, need an audiometer to set the speakers for the best sound. The price I paid for the entire setup could not be beat...Awesome system!!
