Strength:

Sharpness, cabinet, Very good picture out of box

Weakness:

Protective screen cover way too reflective in any room with light. Dark Scenes are too dark.

This set is very attractive to look at. Color fidelity is very accurate. Has best sharpness and color fidelity of any sets I compaired it to. They included Mitsubishi Diamond series and Platium series and Sony XBR. NTSC broadcast are cleanest I have ever viewed. It outperforms my 27" Sony XBR. I have to give credit to line doubler for one of the cleanest pictures available. Now for the negatives. Dark scenes are much darker then any I have seen on the competition. Adjusting Contrast and brightness controls over entire range of adjustment does very little to improve dark scenes. Movie "End of days" viewed on DTV or DVD causes black jackets to bleed. All night scenes and indoor scenes are just not as bright as they should be. For the $2000.00 this set costs over the competion picture is just not as bright or vibrant as competition. Remote is excellant large easy to use buttons and menu is easy to navigate. Rate picture as follows
Color fidelity excellant
Sharpness Excellant
Contrast Good
Brightness Poor

Strength:

Image quality (amazing)
Cabinet finishion

Weakness:

Heu! maybe speaker system, but are you suppose to hook it on a sound system no?

I could compare with Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba, although those tv give good quality the Pionner to me was the best.
The image is amazing, the compensation for the ratio is transparent, the finish of the TV is class (for this price is got to be).

I recommand it wihout hesitation.

Strength:

Picture Quality...WOW!!!

Weakness:

Screen size locked when using the component inputs

Couldn't agree more with Jay down below. My wife had picked out the set she wanted (the new Sony 61" HDTV ready set), but I told her she had to look at this one first. The dealer was kind enough to place the Sony next to the Pioneer (The Mitsubishi Diamond series was on the other side) and the other two sets absolutely didn't compare. Yes, you pay a little bit more, but boy do you get your money's worth! This TV is beautiful even when it's turned off! I had an electrician come out to install a ceiling fan in my theater, and when he walked in and saw this thing his jaw hit the floor. He stood there and looked at it for 5 minutes...and it wasn't even turned on!
Even watching HDTV sources, you won't believe how much better detail you get on this screen compared to its competitors. If you're serious about your Home Theater system, everything else is a distant second.

Strength:

Good internal line doubler.

Weakness:

Unfriendly remote. On screen menu not easy to navigate.
Price too high for this size TV.

Had this unit for almost a month, I really really liked the built in line doubler that is in this TV, but I found that images that came off of DVDs not to be nearly as clear as a Mitsubishi TV. The Mitsubishis internal line doubler is nowhere as good as the Pioneer Elites, but I bypassed it with a RCA DTC100 HD box that upconverts everything and I have a Sony DVPS9000ES DVD player. The picture I have now is what I feel is much bigger and better than the Pioneer Elites. There is more detail in the Mitsubishi, this may have to do with the fact that the Mits used 9" CRTs not 7" ones. I ended up tossing in a few more bucks and got a much bigger screen.

Strength:

Awesom picture. In a word WOW!

Weakness:

HDTV Tuner for this unit is steep. Haven't got one yet.

I really shopped HDTV's and it is very important to look at the units side by side, in the same light, with the same media being viewed. I made the store I purchased this at rearrange thier store practically before deciding on this TV. The picture quality when watching DVD's (need a high end player) is just breathtaking. Another thing about this unit which I love is the cabinet height and quality. It sits right at eye level when sitting down. My friend got a 65" mitsu and came over to see my pioneer and was visibly unhappy after seeing it, though he would never admit it, that the picture quality is so much better. Not to mention you look up at the mitsu because the cabinet height is so much higher, it is also cheap looking. Bottom line you get what you pay for. You want the best than this is your unit. Want to save money than live with the results.

compared the mitsu's......no comparison when watching DVD's
