Strength:

Excelent picture,flat screen,number of inputs

Weakness:

I wish there were one more s-video input on the back, picture Expensive, color fine tuning is a bit cumbersome

I initially used this set with regular (analog) cable and a DVD player. With the DVD player the TV is outstanding. I really never noticed that much of a difference with the cable though. I have since gotten a Dish Network system and just about all of the premium channels are of the DVD quality (or very close). The sports channels are not as good as I think they can be, but I think that is more of a camera or signal problem rather than a TV problem.

Overall I have been very pleased with the set. I have never noticed any of the picture problems listed in the other reviews. That does not mean they do not exist. If you plan on investing in a WEGA TV, shop, shop, and shop. Make sure that you are getting exactly what you want. I have been very pleased and I hope that you will be to.

Strength:

Flat! Black! Square! And there is NO other TV to get if you intend on watching anything digital on a CRT: DVDs, VCDs or especially video games. This is the ULTIMATE video game screen, with sharp, crisp images which really bring out the colours of your high quality gaming system (Dreamcast, PC, hell this thing even makes the awful colours of the PSX look good). However, don't overdo it. After looking at a LOT of WEGAs with my friend, we've come to the realisation that the best picture is from the 27" and not the 36" by far. In fact, the 36" looked worse than most curved TVs as far as brightness of the picture and image stability are concerned. The 32 was a little better, but nowhere near as sweet as the 27. The 27 is a great addition to any high tech rec room (especially when paired with the 27" Wega Stand, as my friend's is) and is a must for gamers and DVD enthusiasts/

Weakness:

Screen is still a CRT and the image gets fatter around the middle whenever picture brightens. This is really freaking annoying, and most TVs do it, but not as noticably as the WEGA. Consider it a plasma image for people who need to work.

Get the 27" even if it means selling your firstborn.

Strength:

No/low flicker, crisp bright picture, good in daylight,S-Video input

Weakness:

No component video input, wasted screen area on 16:9. Big SOB, very heavy. Pre-set picture modes don't seem right - too much colour & hard work to adjust Personal preference mode.

KVXF34M31 model (32" - made in Malaysia - no component video I/P) cost AU$3200
Good results on DVD & excellent on TV. Would have liked a 16:9 mode even at expense of losing some picture. Haven't noted edge curvature distortion others have mentioned. Colour & picture balance taken a long time to set up to my satisfaction and should have few more Personal preference modes as Dynamic, Standard & Soft modes mostly un-watchable.

Good for normal TV watching but wish I'd held out for Widescreen RP TV for DVD movies ...

I purchased the 36fs16 last week. This is the best TV I have ever seen. It lives up to all the hype, not sure it's like looking out a window, but the "3D" seems so real. Was going to get HDTV (Toshiba 40h80) and am so happy I didn't. When HDTV is on all the networks, I'll buy a HDTV and you can bet it will be a SONY.

Strength:

Excellent DVD picture quality. using standard cable shows inherent flaws in transmission. But overall excellent TV.

Weakness:

Initially had to return because of vertical distortion on left side of set when black (i.e. space shots and switching channels). When I got the next one it had the same thing, but to a lesser degree. After a little hair pulling I found out that all I needed to do was go into the service mode and adjust the Horizontal size. After that no distortion anywhere!

heavy sucker!

Great set... once you tweak it.

Strength:

Picture quality, Overall styling and construction

Weakness:

Geometry problems, scrolling lines that bend. dark spots in corners.

After forking out nearly 1000 $$$$ on this unit ,all I can say is how disappointed I am that I didn't do some research first. All I heard, and was told ,is how great this new "flat screen" is. Well to me, now that I have had time to read other reviews and know what to look for,I clearly see the the troubles others are experiencing ; such as horizontal lines that bend ,(this is more noticable when there are scrolling graphics),letter box bars that don't even out at the bottom of the screen , and lastly , dark spots that can be found in the corners. At first I thought that these problems weren't really significant enough to complain about ,but after seeing other similiar reviews (and forking out 1000$) I agree that it is time Sony own up to the fact that there is definitely a problem. I will post another review after my complaints are addressed.

Flat Screen, Picture, Sony Support

Weakness:

Bad Q.C. at SONY, Bad representation at C.C

First one arived from C.C. DOA. Second works great. I love the picture on this thing. I just hpe I never have to move it. It is absolutely beatiful to watch a DVD running through the Component Video inputs from my Sony DVD Player. I had some geometry porblems wiht it and I called SONY with my complaints about the TV nd read them a list of what ha noticed. They very nicely gave me a name and a number and had me schedule a service tech to come out and adjust the set for me free of charge. They could have told me to pound sand but they didn't. I also found the TV for $350.00 cheaper 2 weeks after I bought it and off I went to C.C. to collect on my price protection. Now that I have had it for awhile and have really put it thorgh its paces and had it adjusted by a tech I love this TV A LOT.

Strength:

Sharp, clear picture. Beautiful design.

Weakness:

Heavy! Not very good with daylight. Teletekst features not impressive.

Mine's a KV-32FX20, the 50 Hz version. The 100Hz is just too expensive and I don't like their picture either, especially when the camera pans.
Dowsnide with this one is that with daylight the screen flickers (tho none of my guests has sofar noticed), but at night that's no problem. I recently hooked up a Toshiba ds3107 DVD player and the picture is simply brilliant.
Occasionally (after about 90 minutes) it makes a cracking noise, as if it's about to fall apart, but the 4:3 Wega that a friend of mine has, does the same.
Sofar I've had two occasions where the "off" commando from the remote resulted in a black screen, but not the TV switching off. I couldn't turn it on again either, so had to resort to the switch on the set itself. I've taken the 5 year warranty, just in case...

Strength:

Good Quality picture, lots of options for sound and picture.

Weakness:

unShielded. No zoom control. No memory for Teletext pages.
(The saleperson told 500, but can't find it in the manual or in the menu).

It's about the kv - 32fx60
32 " Widescreen. (European model)

The screen get's Yellow marks on the side's, wich aren't due to magnetic fields from my loudseakers.
Sony told me that the problem are Earth's magnetic lines.
But for me it's crazy that they didn't test it for this problem and found a solid solution.
There advice is to place it on different spots in the room until they are gone, but I have my surround setup and don't have a lot of options!

So test it at home before you spent your money on them.

I would have bought a different TV but the picture itself is one of the best for my budget I have ever seen!
