I have had the TV for about three months now and love it. Got it from circuit city for $399. I got the tv mainly for the component inputs for use with a dvd player or HDTV decoder and for the 700 lines of resolution this tv can handle. I would buy it again for it price and features. |

Strength:
Top quality picture.
Weakness:
None. This TV has a better picture than a more expensive Sony if you use the component video inputs (which Sonys under $1,200 do not have). I have had no problems at all. For the price (I paid $700), it is the best TV you can get. |

Strength:
Clarity and detail in picture.
Weakness:
None yet noted. I loved my old Toshiba but a tube began to go bad and so did the picture. I went looking for another TV and saw various ones. I was tempted to get another Toshiba but this JVC (AV-27D201) had a better picture and oddly enough it also seemed to have a bigger screen size area. I measured both TV's and both had the same diagonal measurement. However, the Toshiba has more of a square screen while the JVC has a rectangular screen. Similar Products Used: Toshiba 26" TV. |

Weakness:
600 lines instead of 700 I was planning in buying the JVC 27d201 because of the good reviews. When I went to buy it. It has been replaced by the 27d202 in Canada which is the 27d302 in the U.S. It is not the same as the 2000 model which was great this is a 2001 model which does not look as good there is only 600 lines resolution instead of 700 and the audio went from 5 watts to 1.2 watts. So be careful if you base yourself on the reviews of the 27d200 or 27d201 . THE 2001 MODEL IS NOT THE SAME. |

Strength:
Audio, component output, remote
Weakness:
Picture tube failure, black bar wrinkles This is the second unit I am taking back. The television begins to shut off once in awhile - and each time it comes back on the picture is darker than before. I'm at the highest brightness setting now, and next time it goes off it will be unwatchable. When the television was new, and it worked, then it had a crisp picture and i had no problem with the awesome sound. The black bar lines on the DVD had a little wrinkle on the top and bottom sides, something I was used to from playing DVDs on my DVDROM. I am very hesitant, despite the positive reviews here, to get this one exchanged for a new one, for the third time. These fellas are heavy to carry! Similar Products Used: Toshiba 27" |

I have owned the 27D200 for a week and very feel satisfied with the purchase...great remote control was able to "learn" all my other remotes codes...700 lines of resolution for the price was untouchable...plus the fact the TV has component out, S-VSH and 2 regular av outs is fantastic...Picture quality is very nice...espcially with S-VHS and up...The value for the dollar and the JVC name made this a great purchase. No PIP-so what!! |

Strength:
attractive cabinet, almost flat screen, accurate colour reproduction, easy-to-use remote, great sound
Weakness:
noisy tuner, overly bright picture tube, no AV inputs in front I purchased this TV primarily because of its looks and component video input. The colour accuracy is also very good. The main issues I have are that the picture tube is super bright, especially at the standard setting. I had to lower the contrast nearly all the way to compensate. Try switching between Standard and Theatre mode and you'll see what I mean. Also, the tuner is noticeably noisy (grainy) even with the Sharpness (or as JVC calls it, "Detail")turned all the way down. At first, I thought it was my cable connection, but I also own a Toshiba and the picture quality is much smoother. It would also have been nice if it had AV inputs in the front and if the remote had a TV/VCR button. On a positive note, the colour accuracy is extremely good even at the standard setting. Unlike other sets, reds are subdued and skin tones look very lifelike. Unfortunately, the reduced curvature screen is no better for glare than my Toshiba's curved screen. If I had to purchase a 27" TV all over again, I probably would have saved the $100 to $200 and gone for either the JVC 27020 or 27050 model, or another Toshiba (for the component input). Strength:
Component In. S-Video In. Good picutre at 27 inch price point. Front panel AV inputs.
Weakness:
Remote's "Hyperscan" function. Automatic clock setting The AV-27D201 is a great value for 27" televisions with component in. (Paid $376.50 tax included at Abt) Just like any TV, one does have to fiddle with the picture settings to the room. but once that's done, the picture is great. Another nicety is the front panel AV access for hooking up your camcorder or additional AV product. Strength:
Picture
Weakness:
Some Glare When Not Configured Properly If you like DVD's then this is as good as anything you can get for this price. The picture is excellent and component video makes it even better. The television sounds pretty good and the simulated surround sound is a nice feature. Although the hyperscan got negative reviews I certainly haven't had any problems with it. Lots of inputs round out what I think is a great TV for the money. |
