Strength:

Great picture, component video, price, solid feel, remote is well designed

Weakness:

none for the price

I purchased this TV from PC Richard at a price of $430, tax included. I am completely satisfied with its performance, especially while watching DVDs. Other TVs like Sony don't have a picture as good as this one has in this price range, and they certainly do not have component video inputs.

Overall, this is a great buy for people who don't want to spend too much money on a TV while waiting for HDTV.

Strength:

component video input, good picture quality

Weakness:

I'm not a big fan of the "Hyperscan" channel-changing

I have only been using my new AV-27D201 (not the 200) for a few days, but I'm completely satisfied. For my apartment, 27" seems like just the right size, and it really isn't all that heavy. My parents' 35" ProScan takes 2 or more adults to move, but I'm able to move my JVC 27" around without a problem. Physically the TV looks very good. The controls on the TV and the remote are good, and fairly intuitive. Luckily, the remote is able to control my Panasonic VCR, but of course I use my Pioneer's DVD remote for the DVD.

Speaking of DVD, that's where this set really shines. I think the combination of the component video inputs and the reduced curvature screen is responsible for this. VHS tapes do look surprisingly good, though.

This set also has a feature known as "Hyperscan" for changing channels. I've found that it interferes with my normal operation of flipping between channels. Sometimes I tend to do so quickly, and the Hyperscan is a little too quick to step in. If I had my druthers, I'd either turn Hyperscan off, or just have it kick in when I hold the button down.

All in all, I think this set is a bargain for what I paid - about $420 shipped from Crutchfield. 5 stars easily for value, and 5 stars overall because my complaints are minor compared to this set's features.

Weakness:

mome so far

i had a jvc 27" that was 13 tears old and finally gave up and ended up spending millons on a sony flatscreen, kept for 3 weeks and didnot like it and went back and bought the jvc that i wanted b4 and thought the sony would be nicer for more money I WAS WRONG. this tv is awesome, best picture i have seen for less than $1200. lots of features. i have not had a glare problem but i use it in my bedroom wich is mostly at nite when i watch. looks great on DVD and blows my mitsubishi away when i hook my dreamcast to it. i love this TV i knew i should have bought after having 13 years service out of my other tv. buy it, you want regret it.

Strength:

Component Inputs, Two Line digital filter, picture

Weakness:

Remote, Glare

Well first off I brought the JVC D-201 model. I had a previous JVC 26 inch tv for 10 years before the tube went out.

Needless to say I had only one company in mind to replace my trusty tv, and that wass JVC.

The TV is great. DVD's look fantastic on this unit.

Run and get one, you will not regret it

Strength:

A beautiful, vivid picture. A great reliability rating on the TV. I am curious as to how some people seem to keep getting defective TV after TV. Maybe its not the TV...

Weakness:

I hate to jump on the band wagon, but there is a slight glare during the day or if there are bright lights around.

I have got to admit I am pretty anal about picture quality, and for the money there isn't a TV anywhere near the AV-27D210. I originally went in and asked for the 27" TV with the best picture, features be damned, for under $500. I was directed to the JVC. I would like to say thank you to the underpaid sales associate for a great call. I am impressed...

Strength:

Picture clarity, styling

Weakness:

Screen distortion, remote

I'm currently on my 2nd JVC AV-27D201 set, and I'm going to be sending this one back as well. I was impressed with this set in the showroom, and from the reviews here. But this is the second model which has the exact same problem, which leads me to believe it's a design flaw in the picture tube. There is a distortion in the picture tube at the sides, which is most noticeable when the picture pans from side to side. There is a distinct ripple in the image. As I watch a lot of hockey, basketball, etc this is really bothersome.

I really wanted to like this set. And there is a lot about it that I do. But the distortion problem is something I won't put up with.
