Purchased this TV after 2weeks of looking at multiple models and reviewing NG's. Had my choices down to a Sony Wega FV-1 or Panasonic superflat. I could not justify the extra 375 bucks for the Sony. If I had the money, I would have went w/ the XBR Sony. Call me cheap, but needed to buy a DVD as well. I am VERY pleased with the performance of this set. Out of the box it needed only minor adjustments to get a quality picture w/ cable (which I watch the most). Have not tested it w/ DVD since mine is on order. Would recommend this to anyone that has not already fallen in love w/ the Wega's. Happy TV hunting.

Recently bought this TV. I was in the shop looking for a DVD player for my friend and suddenly noticed this TV. It was standing apart from other TVs evenfrom Sony WEGA series. I was previously thinking of buying a WEGA tv, but bought this one because at the same price i get horizontal resolution of 800 while WEGA gives around 600. Color reproduction is nice. Picture is sharp and crisp. When I played DVD, I was blown away. So clear!!! I could watch the TV from 6 inch away and was not hurting my eyes. Cool TV!!

Strength:

Amazing clarity of picture, with vivid colors and depth.

Weakness:

Lack of component inputs

This model replaced an aging Philips IDTV circa 1991. I was immediately amazed at the picure quality - sharpness and color depth. Not even the Wega has the vivid colors of the Panasonic. For the money $875 delivered inhouse it is a great value. I might have bought a Wega for the flat screen but I liked the 32SF36 picture just as well and I was concerned for the reported quality problems with the Sony high end models. The newer Wega models seem like they have less features than the models they replaced. A common " cheapening down" problem with some Sony products.

I rate the Panasonic at 5 stars. Seeing the unit using DVD will blow you away.

Strength:

Very clear picture. Cheaper than a Sony WEGA.

Weakness:

None so far.

I've had this TV for a couple of months now. Great picture quality for cable, video games, and video tapes. Plan on getting a DVD and home theatre setup soon. But this is definitely a great focal point for the price.
Got it at OneCall.com for $800, $200 less than any of the local stores or online shops, no tax and was delivered from Washington in two days.

Strength:

Very good value for the money, minimal adjustments necessary out of the box, lighter than Sony Wega's, coax (antenna) splitter

Weakness:

No component inputs, picture not as sharp ast Sony Wega, remote manual could be better written

I upgraded from Sony 27" Trinitron. Loved that TV. Much better than piece o' crap 25" RCA I had before it. Had to fight with RCA to get reimbursed for the Eeprom chip dying. (Had to include that.) Proscan, Shmoscam.

Looked into Sony Wegas. Was going to get 36" XBR. Decided to go with 36FS10 because Sony's 3D filter only helps with dish input. (I have digital cable.)

Decided 36" was too big after I finally set up new family room. I'm 8-9" away. Local store didn't carry 32FS10, and I didn't want to pay extra for PIP on Sony.

I finally went with 32SF36 because, 1) I've had too many problems with Sony equipment, and too many bad experiences with Sony customer support, 2) Panasonic, while still having bulk of it's own, is a lot lighter than the Sonys, and easier to move around, 3) Panasonic's remote is better than Wega's, 4) better vertical resolution on Panasonic.

I still feel the Sony has a better picture, but I didn't want to have to hassle with the possibility of having to return a 175 lb TV because of crappy quality control, and going from the 36FS10 to the 32SF36, I saved $500.

I also was a little nervous that the sharpness of the Sony picture would cause me more to focus on the pixels and lines on the screen, than the picture content itself. Saw some problems in showrooms, with, for example, panning camara across a basketball court, and dot crawl (?) as the diagonal court boundaries were successively imaged during panning.

I like the coax antenna splitter Panasonic has. Best (not perfect), but best solution I've seen for being able to tape a premium digital (RF) cable channel, while still watching a std cable analog signal. (But you can't watch and tape two RF digital channels unless you have two converter boxes.)

I also like be able to set up TV as center channel (flexibility), even though I have dedicated speaker for that.

I did like previous Sony 27" remote better. Small, not universal, but very functional. I miss remotes that don't need manuals of their own!

Strength:

Excellect color, remote, price

Weakness:

Quality control

I've had this TV for about a month now, and like most other people here I thought the color and picture quality were a little better than the Sony WEGA. The remote seems to work pretty good too, at least with my Sony and Pioneer system.

The big problem with this series seems to be quality control. My picture bows out at the middle, another reviewer below says his bows in, and still another says his runs at an angle. I'm taking mine back to get a replacement that will hopefully fix the problem.

Considering the price and features, I think it's a good deal IF you can get one that has been adjusted correctly.

Strength:

Good picture, sound (connected to center, side, and bass speakers).

Weakness:

I have had problems with playback of home-recorded tapes and commercial movies alike.

I would give this product a rave review except for the VCR tape playback problem, which is very annoying. We recently purchased a Panasonic PV-V420 VCR, which has not completely solved the problem. We see "skips" or "jiggles" in commercial movie tapes and lighting variations or "flickers" in home-recorded tapes. We are using the S-Video connection. Has anyone else had a problem with VCR use with this tv?I am wondering if the size or the screen and the sharpness of the picture are not magnifying the tape deficiencies.

None. This television replaced a 10-yr-old Zenith 27-in television set which was very reliable.

Strength:

Nice colors....the overall weight of the unit is much less than the WEGA's...

Weakness:

Major Geometry problems....

Purchased the CT32SF36 with hopes for no geometry problems....my luck ran out....out of the box the picture was tilted so badly, images appeared to be falling off one side of the screen. Instead of trying another Panasonic, I upgraded to the Sony KV-32FV15 WEGA....have not looked back since...
