I purchased this set after looking around for a TV to replace my 27" after getting a DVD player. Although this one was a good $300 more than most other models I looked at, the picture quality just blew me away. Other things I liked were the streamlined enclosure, great univ. remote, flat screen and center channel audio inputs. THe only real drawback is it's lack of component input and squeezed display of anamorphic DVDs (like the Wegas and Panasonic DTV). I rate this 4.5 stars, so I'll round up to 5.

Just bought one and love it... I compared it (like everyone else) to the WEGA.At 30% to 40% more, the WEGA didn't look as crisp. The WEGA XBR however was significantly clearer...but at about 80% More...I couldn't justify nearly twice the price...Panasonic is the best bang for the buck in a flat screen TV.

Strength:

Good Value, excellent picture using s-video inputs, 4 sets of inputs

Weakness:

red push in NTSC decoder, no front panel s-video

I have had this TV for over 2 years now and are very happy with it thus far. It could use some color decoder calibrating, but that is my only complaint with its performance. It has an excellent 3D digital comb filter for a TV in this price range, I even noticed a little sharper picture using the filter with s-video jacks. These are my current settings that I am very pleased with.

- brightness - 32
- color - 31
- tint - 28
- picture - 20 ( with this picture setting I am able to get less than 4% overscan all the way around)
- color temperatue - warm (I read that this is the closest setting to 6500K on the gray scale)

I recommend this product for those of you like me that needed a good direct view 32" (not too pricey)TV till HDTV becomes readily available.

I said in back in Dec the TV needs some tweaking to get the best picture. I purchased a Video Essentials DVD. This disc helps you calibrate both Surround sound audio and the video.
The DVD tells that TV manufactures put the presets to where the picture looks good in a showroom with bright harsh light.
Now I never have seen a better picture than what is TV shows right now.
Here is how the final settings look. your results could vary depending on room color and average brightness conditions.
Color 40
tint 29
brightness 40
picture 18 I know this seems very low but trust me.
sharpness 14
All the auto adjustments urned on.
I upgrade my rating to 5/5 stars

Anyone wanting the best picture for your TV new or old and have a DVD player get this disc. Video Essentials

Strength:

2 S-video inputs, Excellent Color; great price relative to Sony Wega or XBR

Weakness:

Heavy-weight

I was amazed at how few 32" sets had 2 or more S-video inputs. I have a Sony DSS system to use one, so I needed at least one other for my upcoming DVD purchase. I could have used more, with a S-VHS VCR and a Mini-DV camcorder to run through the TV. This set at least has 2 S-video inputs. I compared it to a 36" Song Wega and rate the colors on the Panasonic brighter and images sharper. Factor in the significantly lower price, and buying this set over Sony was a no-brainer. I highly recommend it!!

Strength:

nearly flat screen, accurate color rendition, warm temperature preset appears close to NTSC standard

Weakness:

Velocity Scan Modulation is not defeatable, geometry problems

This is a great TV. Good detail with excellent color rendition and good brightness. The remote also scores big points for being well designed and backlit. However, the Velocity Scan Modulation is not defeatable, which with some material is very annoying.

I also have experienced major geometry problems with several sets (I've exchanged a couple of times). This appears to be a Panasonic trait. However, Good Guys is sending out a tech to adjust the convergence. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

Because of the VSM and geometry problems, I'll give it 4 stars.

Strength:

Very good resolution. Vivid colors and good DC restoration.

Weakness:

Minor convergence alignment.

I chose this set over the 32" Wega because it simply had a better overall picture and 2 S video inputs. I also encountered tilt problems with widescreen and a small white haze in one corner. I returned the set for another. In fairness to Panasonic, I experienced similar problems with 2 Sony sets prior to purchasing the Panasonic which tells me most sets require alignment and setup by a qualified technician if you want top performance. Most of the problems with geometric distortion and black level can be resolved with a service call while the set is under warranty.

Strength:

Color Temperature and 3line filter. Plenty of AV inputs

Weakness:

NA

Bought as floor model at Circuit City for $800. Great investment. I considered Sony Wega, ProScan 32 models and saw that the Panasonic had the highest number of AV inputs and available options (3 line filter, color temp, front AV input for Playstation) for this price range. I have a Scientific Atlantic digital cable box and a Marantz Sr7000 digital receiver to accompany TV. This combination with my Paradigm Speaker setup, Titans, Atoms, CC 170, Ps 1000 offer outstanding value for entry level digital system. Try it out yourself and you'll see. All for less than $3000. I have Playstation setup, using the Marantz Matrix mode at around -20 db playing Gran Turismo2 is addictive.
