Strength:

Good Picture Quality, Easy to Adjust Picture and Sound Options, Great Sound ( when there isn't any Ham/CB interference)

Weakness:

HAM /CB interference.

I bought this set from a very reliable Best Buy in Chicago and was absolutely satisfied! I then moved to the sticks and I noticed a hissing, static sound. I played around with the wires, cables and still had the static, hissing sound ..even with the sound on mute. Then one night I began to hear voices. My set was receiving Ham Radio and CB interference! After going to an FCC site, I read that some tvs lack a certain filter. I also investigated the wiring in the house and realized the placement of the cable outlet next to an electric outlet amplified the Ham/CB signal. Solution: use a different electrical outlet.. I then moved to an older apartment in the same area and my Ham/CB problem was worse. Switching outlets did not work because whoever was on air was probably inadvertantly facing his beam in my direction. I went to Radio Shack, bought an RF Interference Filter...didn't work. I disconnected the TV from the cable and STILL heard the HAM/CB. I then bought an FM Trap...still no help. I tried calling Sanyo, but kept getting the run around. As much as I do like the picture and sound quality...I seriously think I bought a Radio receiver rather than a television set. I'm awaiting e-mail from Sanyo now..there has to be some sort of filter or device out there to block out this radio interference. I really don't want to call the FCC to find the Ham/CB operator. I've watched JOYRIDE...I value my life more than a cheap 32" TV.

Strength:

value, picture quality, features

Weakness:

the in-home warranty is only for 90 days labor, 1 year parts, 2 years picture tube

I couldn't believe the bargain I got on this TV!

I had a highly rated Toshiba 27 inch sitting in my cart when I rolled by the large screen TVs in a popular electronics/computer/music store. Out of curiosity, not expecting to be able to afford a larger TV, I checked then out. And was I glad I did!

My actual 32-inch model is AVM3259G. It retailed that day at $400. But I had a 10%-off promotional coupon received through the mail for that weekend only that brought the price down to $360. On top of that, there was an advertised weekend promotion giving purchasers of any 32-inch or above TV a really nice TV cart, with glass door and lots of storage space, that easily would retail for $70 or more.

The salesperson was also obviously aware of the great deal I got. He kept trying to push add-ons like an extended warranty and a $45 surge protector, both of which I declined.

I think the warranty is skimpy. But unfortunately Sanyo's seems pretty much the industry "standard" anymore, even among much higher price TVs I saw. I do not approve of this trend where manufacturers give poor warranties and then push extended warranties at you for an extra price. Seems to me a product either is well designed and assembled, or it is not, and a company should stand behind their product with a first rate guarantee.

Don't rush into big purchases! You might be surprised at the deal you can get! By the way, lately the same store advertises this TV for $450. I might add, I've done internet comparison shopping on TVs, and I feel that you can get prices every bit as good, at least in a larger city environment like the Kansas City area with numerous competitors, if you take the time to research your options, wait for bonafide sales, utilize coupons, and buy at the right time of year.

Strength:

THE PRICE!!! Sound Options

Weakness:

"Picture Quality"

The price is all that matters with this product. I saved $100 compaired to a Zenith 32" TV which after some tweaking in the store I made the picture almost identicle where you wouldnt notice that $100 difference. (Just as a side note for $100 extra I got a 4 year all-parts eveything warrenty) I personally liked the sound over the other models I compaired it to. And the kicker is none of the other TV's allowed you to control bass and treble and this model does. If you own a small bar and want to watch MNF (and Laugh at how bad denis miller is) this TV is great. For the price im laughing. Its a great TV. Take a chance with the money you save buy the warrenty and not worry over that little detail of clearness of the TV which you can fix with some tweaking. Or think of it this way, a few beers and no one can tell the differnce between the Sanyo and any other TV. Happy Holidays!!!

its made well, outstanding sound, all in all worth the money. remote light were a great idea

Weakness:

picture was not as good as i would have like but not bad for not having a comb filter and only 300 lines.

i hadent had good luck with most tv's so this was a last resort. i had heard good things about sanyo. im glad i listened. the pip is underated and the sound quality is as if you were there. i highly recomend this product. my only complaints were the picture could be better and the remote goes through batteries to fast. the s (digitel input) is wonderful with my dvd player. i had never realized its full potential. if you have invested in one and dont have to money for a flatscreen the this is your best bet for the price.

Strength:

price reliability

Weakness:

sub-par picture, as bad as GE models.

After reading reviews about Sanyo, and seeing that it's the most trouble-free brand according to CR magazine, I went to the store and compared to other brands next to it. Any one that buys this must be nuts, the picture quality is so inferior to the others, that they would have to give it away for free, and even then I'd sell it.

Weakness:

Average, at best, Picture Quality. Occasional hissing noise.

I purchased this TV because is was the cheapest 32" TV I could find that had a S-Video connection. I also liked the fact that it only weighed about 100 pounds. I was actually able to lift the TV into my entertainment center by myself.

I was originally planning on buying a 16:9 RPHDTV, but the cheepest ones I could find cost $2600 and I'm not sure if any of them would fit in my basement. I don't have a walkout basement and the stairs end at a wall. I agreed to a 18 month no interest deal, so I figure to pay about $40/month for a year. I won't notice the difference.

I figured I would buy a cheap TV that would last 5 years or so and then buy a flat screen plasma TV that I could fit into my basement. I'm hoping they'll be affordable in 5 years.

To be fair, I couldn't tell much of a difference between this TV and more expensive Toshiba's and Sony's, although you can see a slight difference if you place your eyeball 2 inches from the TV. I don't think it's worth spending an extra $150 for the difference. I have a satellite system and the TV looks very good. I can't tell much of a difference between this TV and my 2 year old sony 32" TV. When I asked the salespeople at Best Buy why the Toshiba's were better than the Sanyo's, he stated the Toshiba's have a 3 line comb filter and the Sanyo's have a single line comb filter. When I asked them what a line comb filter is, he stated that it's a filter that improves the picture quality. What do you expect from an 18 year old.

There is one noticeable problem. I have the volume turned all the way down and sometimes I hear a static noise coming from the speakers. I have a dolby digital setup, so I don't use the speakers and I only hear the static noise when my stereo isn't on. If the sound becomes worse, I'll try to disconnect the wires to the speakers. This isn't problematic enough for me to lug the TV back up the basement stairs and back to Best Buy.

Strength:

Light Weight

Weakness:

Poor Quality

I submitted an earlier review and since then, the remote control stopped working. I think the problem is with the TV. I tried getting the TV working with several universal remotes and none of them work. I still hear a buzzing noise coming from the speakers.

To the best of my knowledge, I can't switch the video source without the remote so I'm stuck in video 1. I can't watch any DVD's.

Strength:

Decent Picture and Sound along with a S-VHS input

Weakness:

None for the price

Needed a second TV to watch sports. I have it hooked through the S-VHS input from my JVC vcr/cable. Very decent picture for a cheap second set(rated at 330lines at coxial connection, 600 lines at S-VHS). It really was not worth getting a 27" or bigger Sony considering the price value comparison. I'd recommend it very much if you don't have much to spend.

I love this TV! Spent some time looking at 32" TV's. I originally loooked at this one first, a while back. Statred getting confused though. You know how everyone is, " Get a Sony, or Toshiba." I'm not crazy about throwning away $200 - $400 more for a TV. I'm tired of paying for a "name". Salesman kept pushing the Toshiba. Did'nt feel like spending $180 more for basically a little better picture. The picture on this set is just fine. Sound is great also. I would definitly recommend this set.

Strength:

Cheap, S-video input

Weakness:

picture quality

We're finally getting a bigger house and needed a second large screen TV. But I'm not ready to drop thousands on a HDTV yet, so I went the cheap route... the cheapest 32" I could find, a used Sanyo AVM-3259G.

Side-by-side with my older Sony 27" KV27V10, the sanyo sucks. But when you move back to normal viewing distance, the larger size of the 32" Sanyo outweighs the picture quality, and you enjoy it more than the Sony 27"

Bottom line: size does matter.
