Strength:

Great Picture and Sound, Looks cool, easy to setup

Weakness:

Way to heavy!!!!!!!!!

I would suggest paying a little more for a 27 inch tv and get a flat screen. The picture is amazing, and of course you can brag to all of your friends about how cool your tv looks.
Only downfall is that tv is very heavy and need two people to move it

Strength:

picture quality, inputs

Weakness:

doesn't keep settings for separate inputs

This TV is great! S-video and composite inputs. Terrific picture quality, and only $700. Much better than last year's model($850, with no composite in). 16:9 mode makes movies even better.

The only thing complaint I have is I usually watch movies in 16:9, but when I switch to another input, 16:9 mode is reset. A minor problem, at best.

This is definately the best television for the price.

Strength:

AWESOME picture

Weakness:

decent sound, but with a home theater, who cares

I looked and looked for the tv with the best picture quality for my Ps2 dvd player and ooooh my, what a picture it has, kinda pricey but what can you do in an area where GOOD wire costs 90$? the old tv i had used an RF jack so dvds looked like bad cable reception. Only thing i wish is that it was bigger in stores so when people looked at them, 27" seems as big as it does in a small/avarage room. it looks Big in my room, but at the Wiz or sears, its looks tiny next to the 36" and larger tvs.

Strength:

great picture

Weakness:

Horizontal lines are distorted at top and bottom of screen

Picture is great, great color, contrast, black and white detail. However due to the flat screet horizontal lines have a curving effect.

Strength:

Pretty good picture when it works.

Weakness:

It doesn't work. Fixing it is costly and time consuming. You're dealing with a bureacracy.

Bad purchase decision. Fifteen minutes into every viewing snow starts to form and eventually blocks out entire picture. Getting this 100 pound monster fixed by The Good Guys is a minefield that takes weeks. Even they volunteer that today's electronics from Sony are just not as good as they use to be. Poor quality control. Agonizing response.

Strength:

Flat screen, lots of fronts and back input, 16:9 mode, easy to use on- screen menu.. great picture quality.. cable look good even if the tv quality is far superior. Audio quite good for 2X5watt. Look's bigger than 27''.. good design.. except for the speaker location and i personally really like the color of the tv.

Weakness:

Its really ***** huge. And i don't really like the remote.
Its ok .. but some time make's me mad !

I really like this television.. and i personnaly think that it really worth the price i paid for it. The speaker sound good for 2X5Watt.. try to use surround sound in the audio option it increased the audio quality even if its only two speaker.. stereo sound more like a mono options. On-screen menu are great and easy to use, color adjustement are well made.. use it because the normal setting is way to bright and make my eye's suffering way to much. The remote is really just ok.. not more. For the picture quality it is really great, if you check out this tv in a store.. sometimes cable quality look's horrible.. but have no worry when you connect this huge monster at house it just rock's.. and wait to see the dvd quality on this 16:9 big baby!!!

Strength:

V-E-R-Y nice series of TVs! Picture is excellent (when not pink! :), sound is OK, flat screen is just great. You will not want another TV!

Weakness:

Again - pink stripes. I ended up paying $100 more, but - trust me, once you have this, you don't want to go back to "notmal" TVs.

Very nice TV! But - mine had pink stripes on both sides of the screen - left and right, visable only on white or very light backgrounds. WATCH FOR THIS! Bothered me, though, so I took it back to BestBuy. They got me another one, I insisted to test it there, and it was also pink. At the end, it turned out they have pink series there. I ended up paying $100 more and getting KV-27FS16 model. DVDs look GREAT on both.

Strength:

Flat screen, vivid colors

Weakness:

Screen geometry slightly off

I'm someone who is very picky about quality when it comes to AV products, and this TV meets most of my needs well. The picture at times is stunning, but really exposes the weaknesses of a poor video source like analog cable. I have not tested anamorphic 16:9 dvd yet, but laserdisc is quite vivid and film-like on this set. At the opening titles to T2 on this set all I could say was "wow".

There is a slight geometry problem in the right section of the screen, but is only really noticeable with test patterns or letterboxed movies. This is acceptable to me in the way that the occasional "pop" can be heard on good vinyl (records), or compression artifacts on CD are. I understand this is typical of Wega sets, and it does not really bother me (who is usually very picky about such things). In other words, the problem is there, but in most cases you have to look for it.

The sound and remote are only "ok", and the TV has adequate menus, although more advanced AV setting would be an improvement. The audio-out on this set allows for one-remote volume control on all your AV inputs if you wire it correctly.

The colors are remarkably vivid, and the detail and dark colors are intense on this set. The "Movie" video preset mode provides a great looking picture, with a soft, warm presentation that can best be described as film-like. The 32" Wegas I looked at didn't seem to have quite the crisp resolution of the 27" set, and for the money the KV-27FS12 27" Wega is a great purchase.

Strength:

Anamorphic squeeze! Unbelievable picture. Great detail, nothing beats these Sony Phosphors, great color.

Weakness:

Geometry problems galore. Has the funhouse plague. Aka, the picture warps, watch CNN and check out the ticker. Some convergence problems as you approach the edges.

Great TV, give Wega's more time to fix geometry problems. I'd even suggest a nice Toshiba.

Weakness:

Visible "Null Line" that all Sony Trinitrons have.

When I bought a DVD player 2 months ago (a Sony DVP-S570D) and connected it to my 3-year old Sony KV27V20 Trinitron, I was floored by the picture. It was absolutely brilliant. I was always a big fan of Laserdiscs and had previously connected my Trinitron to a Pioneer CLD-904 and had always loved the clarity of the medium. However, seeing DVD has, pardon the pun, made me see things more clearly.
But even my 3-year old KV27V20 was showing its weakness in highlighting the clarity of the DVD format. I knew that the new VVega's had 16:9 vertical compression, so I had to see what an anamorphic wide-screen movie looked like with this feature.
I was surprised at just how big a difference there was. I could no longer make out the scan lines with the compressed VVega picture as compared to my old set. And connected to my DVD Player via Component inputs, the colours are richer without any "bleeding".
I've always been a big fan of Sony Trinitron televisions (even my PC Monitor is a Sony), but I still have to fault them for that "null line" on all their sets that is visible either 1/3 from the top or bottom of the tube. If you look at a plain white image on your set, you can make it out. But other than that, I believe they are flawless in terms of picture quality.
For $1000 CDN and paying cash so I wouldn't have to pay GST and PST (it retails for $1099CDN plus taxes) and haggling for free delivery, I got it for a steal.
