Strength:

Anamorphic Squeeze

Weakness:

Dangerous Design

A follow-up to my review below. Too heavy, weight at front, slope on top for center speaker and imbalance make for a dangerous design. While trying to access cables in back, it flopped right over on to its front damaging the tube. Luckily I wasn't hurt. If you have a 27" or larger Wega TV and kids please watch out.

Strength:

Beautiful picture, easy to program & use remote.

Weakness:

It took about 2 mth's. for my set to go through a burn in period.

This set is hooked up to a Disk 500 Dish Network satellite system. It produces an excelent picture. It took about a month before the satellite system burned in correctly. The colors are true, skin tones are great. I do not use the sound in the tv except to listen to the local news on rabit ears. It is OK for that. I would recomend this highly.
(This set is a KV-27FS13). I felt it needed to be reviewed.

Strength:

clear, focused, vibrant picture.

Weakness:

speakers.

This T.V. is an absolute delight to use with a DVD player.
Wide screen format looks excellent. The T.V. looks bigger
than 27". Fool proof menu system. The sound is weak, but
thats of no importance as I'm using a HIFI system.
I highly recommend this product . Good work Sony.

Strength:

Picture to die for !!!
SONY - maybe I'm just brand loyal, but when things never break, you stick with them.
FOUR inputs !!!

Weakness:

The need for a platoon of Marines to move the thing !!!
Silver color takes some getting used to.

First I would just like to say, "Thank you Sears !!!" I watched the salesman open the box to put it up for display. I asked how much the TV was. He said it is the last one, so I would have to buy the "floor model". Bear in mind, he just took it out of the box and NEVER turned it on. He went and asked the price...$419 he said.

Anyway, the TV is incredible !!! Clear as crystal picture, easy to understand menus. This TV is AWESOME !!!

Strength:

Component video inputs, Great picture quality, Bigger than 27" look. EZ menu navigation. Its also energy star compliant ;P (for you power conservationists)

Weakness:

100 friggin pounds!!! Lack of PIP, and crummy speakers. Price

Well, this TV is way better than my old magnavox, I'm using the component video input. I love how vibrant all the colors are, I finally got it dialed in to put out an excellent picture. Its great watching the sweat pours on a guy's face just before he thinks he's going to die :). It also brings out the picture when I'm playing SSX on playstation 2. I like having a flat screen for once (not as much glare), and I haven't noticed any geometrical distortions that people have been talking about (yes I did use a calibration dvd to tweak my tv in).

The speakers do honestly suck on this tv, thats why you have to be a crazy audiophile and match this bad boy tv to a fantastic DTS surround system. I believe this tv was well worth the price I paid for it.

Strength:

Awesome Picture, component video input, 16:9 enhanced mode, aesthetic appeal

Weakness:

16:9 must be set every time you switch video sources etc.

Well the HDTV Samsung DID look better, but HDTV isn't my main goal here. The sony looked better with a regular picture anyhow.

The TV is absolutely wonderful! I use the 16:9 enhanced momde with my playstation 2. I hooked it up with component video connections and then used the optical out to my Denon reciever. Wow! It's great!

On screen menus are great and easy to use. Remote is about 800 times more friendly than my Denon which isn't saying much, the Denon remote is just awful.

Glad my buddy was there to help me move it onto the small stand I have for it! It's not real light. Weight doesn't bother me much though since it probably won't be moving much in the near future.

Just go compare and you'll buy one too! I bought this on the recommendation of the same buddy listed above who got the 36" version (much more expensive, 1600 bucks in fact)... I feel this is a great value for a 27" TV!

Only reason for the 4 stars rating is the 16:9 mode that I need to access from the menus every time! It's pretty annoying.

Strength:

enhanced 16:9, component input, picture quality

Weakness:

the top is not flat

I was blasted when i switched from VHS to DVD some months ago.

Yesterday, i was even more blasted by the switch from composite rca to component video cable. Wow... !!

I bought this tv to get a better picture, bigger screen and component input. I am very satisfied.

For the gamers interested, you can play Playstation 2 games that are "widescreen enhanced" with the Wega widescreen mode. It's almost like having a 16:9 tv for a quarter of the price !

Strength:

Flat screen, component video, no glare, 16x9 enhanced mode (it's not quite overrated), front inputs help

Weakness:

None really. I keep the crumby speakers off when using the receiver. The remote isn't that bad.

Sears price-matched internet. Careful! Run and do it while you can, one of their local locations told me they discontinued internet price-match.

Well, I can't complain at all about this set. After spending years with a 20" Quasar with built-in VCR, I was ready for real home theatre.

I am a purist and feel that a TV is only for picture. The sound is only utilized by the TV when absolutely necessary (cable channels sound like crap through my receiver, too loud for broadcast television. Even watching the Sopranos live, I couldn't find a good DSP to use so I stick with the TV's speakers).

The stuff I've run with composite is just fine. I haven't tried anything with S-Video. Component looks pristine.

Like another reviewer, I have all my components plugged into a Monster power center as well as having the cable routed through it. It made a slight difference for the cable signal but nothing more amazing (and trust me, when you have a good signal coming through, the picture IS amazing).

That's all I can say about the set without getting into detail about how great it works with my other components, especially with added sound. Read my other reviews.

System:
Wega 27"
Pioneer DV-C503 5 disc changer (works GREAT, check my review)
Yamaha HTR 5280 (AMAZING!)
Energy Take 2s for fronts and rears
Energy XLC for center (WOW!)
Energy XLS8 sub

Stunning Vivid Picture, excellent menu options, many
inputs...

Weakness:

Oh.....my back is killing me!!!

Got a replacement ar Sears today...Seems the Coaxial input
was not seated properly. The second one is a charm..This set
is a natural match for the digital age..I hooked my Denon
DVD player through it today..even in regular video mode(no
component or S-video)
the picture is stunning and real. I don't know how I could
go back to regular TV now!!!The menu and picture options are
really good and I like the flexibility of so many inputs!!

Strength:

Incredible Picture, Component Video, Audio Outputs, Deceiving size, Great for DVD

Weakness:

The sound isn't anything special, but who cares when you have a recevier and speakers?!

With the Sony KV-27FS12, you're getting your money's worth and then some. I almost purchased a traditional Sony Trinitron 27" TV, but the week I went in to buy it, I found out that the new FS series Sony's just arrived. AudioCraft was selling them like hotcakes and I needed to have one. To say the least, I was enjoying colorful, sharp pictures a month before BestBuy and CircuitCity offered the FS12. ...Oh there's some infinitesimally small apereture on the sides of the picture?? Yeah right...compare Wega to any other TV, and you'll see why Sony is KING in TV technology.
