Strength:

Awesome TV! Excellent picture quality.

Weakness:

Weighs a ton.

I am using this TV as part of home theatre system.

It replaced a 27" SOny regular TV that's now in the Master Bedroom.

I bought this TV after seeing it in action at my dad's house and all I can say is that it has a great picture, it's easy to hok up and has a really nice remote.

I give it my highest rating. The WEGA's are a great TV, a great value and you just cannot go wrong.

System:

Strength:

16:9 widescreen resolution

Weakness:

only 1 S-video input, needs at least 2. somewhat odd design with the bottom sweep-out speaker area, but not too bad

So far, so good, and the wide-screen resolution feature sealed the deal. Remember, use the video optimizer from the options menu a THX (re)mastered DVD such as Star Wars Episode 1 to set your color, sharpness, contrast, etc. settings and to test that you're getting the proper 16:9 squeeze. These things were way off initially. And set your DVD player options to 16:9 so that it thinks you have one of those widescreen TV's (essentially fooling the player to use the TV's great resolution squeeze function). Then set it on the TV. After doing all this stuff, I was enjoying DVD's like watching them for the first time again. The picture was superb even at about an 8' viewing distance.

The only strange thing is when playing X-box using the S-video input in complete darkness, the upper and far left screen regions appear a bit brighter than pure black during the black in-between scenes. Haven't tried other input types for that. Also, I don't notice this when watching DVD's, probably because no signal is being sent up there, not even a black bar signal, know what I mean?

Remember, Sears happily price-matches and their return policy states that you can return it for any reason of disatisfacition within a "reasonable period of time." Yes, that's confusing but it's way-cool.

Strength:

Incredible picture, like the picture modes

Weakness:

Heavy...no codesets included for the universal remote

Awesome Monitor...clearest picture of all the competitors...didn't want PIP since I have a dish and find that feature usually very annoying

Strength:

Picture clarity, widescreen format, adjustability

Weakness:

Speakers are a bit weak, heavy

I have had this television for only about a week now, but I love it so much I had to write a review for it! The picture clarity on this thing is superb, especially while watching DVDs on my Toshiba SD-1700. The component video inputs are definitely a big plus and that swayed my decision a bit. Also, the 16:9 enhanced mode is excellent and really does improve the picture quality while watching DVDs.
The picture modes that one can switch between in the settings (movie, sports, etc.) are not very good right out of the box, but once you adjust them, they are perfect. If you can find a good price on this set (between $800-850) like I did, then that should make your television buying experience a lot quicker.
