Strength:
outstanding picture quality, component video iputs, ultra flat tube.
Weakness:
None... except the wieght. I purchased this product in July of '99 and remain very satisfied. I've experienced no problems; only enjoyment. The picture quality I get from DVD is amazing. For example: "A Bug's Life" is pure eye candy. The component video connection from DVD to TV provides true benefits. I don't have a satellite system (yet) but the cable signal I get is more than acceptable on most channels. Live sporting events look great. In fact, I've never enjoyed watching hockey games more. This baby is heavy so do yourself a favor and have it delivered and positioned in your home. Enjoy. Similar Products Used: Other Sony TV's... but none as high end as this one. |

Strength:
beautiful picture, good sound for a TV and very flexible
Weakness:
none that I've found I highly recommend this TV to anyone considering a large screen picture tube type set due to the clarity and focus of the picture, especially DVD using the component video inputs; the difference between the coaxial input and the component video input is astounding! Picture quality is great from any angle compared to a projection TV and the adjustments available make it easy to change to suit the room environments. Bought from Crutchfield for $1799, but got free shipping, delivery and setup right in my den, and no sales tax because I'm out of state. No problems to date (bought it in Sept, 99). GREAT PICTURE
Weakness:
A DEEP FOOT PRINT I would agree that Steve has it all wrong about this TV. He either received a bad set or set it up wrong. The four picture settings need tweaking (the movie setting is ok) with video essentials. But once the TV has been setup properly - IT ROCKS. |

Sound quality, quality, glarefree screen, asthetics
Weakness:
picture brightness, controls When I first got this TV, I was impressed with the overall design of the unit. Its very sleek and modern looking. The sound was incredible through the stock speakers, however I noticed the picture, while sharp and focused, lacked the brightness levels that I would have expected.OVerall I like the set, however I think Sony should have tweaked the tube a bit before releasing the product in the open market Similar Products Used: other sony, hitachi, toshiba |

It doen's Wrk. DOA on Delivery waitining for new one I'll let you know when I get one that works. Silly me, I thought I would be the lucky on and get one that works the first time. If Circuit City will ever deliver one to me that is. I should have listened but oh how I love that tv when it is working in the showroom. Mabe I will go camp out in the showroom with my family and friends until they get the picture that SONY has a real problem with these things. I amgiving this one str on each until I get a unoit that works and then I will re-review it. |

Strength:
Sony quality, stylish design, flat tube, multiple inputs including component.
Weakness:
Why does everyone say weight? I don't know one person how can carry any 36in tv by themselves. No weaknesses. I don't own the KV36FV15 but the FV16 and since the models are fairly close and there is no spot for the FV16 review I thought I'd add one here. I love this tv. The picture is great, the menu and remote are very easy to use, and it has 16:9. The sound is pretty good but who cares when you run everything through a receiver. My only regret is that I couldn't talk my wife into letting me spend $700.00 for the 36inch XBR400. Quality Control Okay, I finally got the second set delivers early yesterday morning. I hooked it up to a sony dvp-s530d dvd player. Used Monster Component Video to the player. What a picture. When I first fired it up it had a strange green coloration at the top of the picture but that went away after about 5 minutes and I haven't seen it since. I haven't seen any of the other common complaints voiced by other people yet. I am deep in testing at this time(i.e Hookie from work). So far I have to say I love it. Life doesn't get any better than this. I am glad I didn't unwind the deal after the first DOA set. I give it five stars overall with a subnote to SONY. They really need to get thier S#@! together on quality control over this thing. I'm just a working class guy who saved his money for a nice toy. And having a piece of equipment that costs that much show up at my house dead is a little upsetting to sya the least. |

Fantastic picture!
Weakness:
Extremely poor magnetic sheilding! This is my second set, after carring the first set up 2 flights of stairs(235 lbs.) it turned out to be defective. My second set has been outstanding! The picture is crystal clear while displaying a dvd, broadcast shows are as good as to be expected. The main problem that I found with this set is the weak magnetic sheilding! I purchased a set of B&W CDM 7 CNT speakers and I will have to return them because I can't get them far enough away from the set without turning the bottom corners green. I still have a faint green spot in the left corner after 2 weeks of not being exposed to the speakers. I would highly recommend this set if you want a great picture and have speakers that are sheilded. I was lucky and bought the set for $999.00 new. For a set in this price range and higher Sony should have sheilded it better. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Good picture quality. Very flat anti-reflective screen.
Weakness:
Heavy. Sensitive to any kind of magnetic interference. A counple of weeks after I bought the TV, I dicovered a bluish green color appear on the left edge of the screen. I later realized that this TV is highly sensitive to any kind of weak magnetic field that ay exist around it. Now I will probably have to reorganize my entire entertainment center in a way to fit the need of a low magnetic field for my television. |

Strength:
Awesome picture and great sound
Weakness:
none Replaced a 27" Magnavox, 12 years old with this TV. Saw it in the showroom and fell in love. We debated between the 32" and 36" and settled on the 36" and we haven't regretted it. It was a struggle getting it into the house and onto the stand (which was a freebie with a 36" purchase at Sears), but I'm sure that is to be expected with such a large screen TV. |
