Beyer Dynamic DT 770-Pro
Third we have the Beyer Dynamic DT 770-Pro Closed Circumaural Studio Headphones. Summary:
Wonderful pristine quality!
I had just sat down to listen to a piano concerto by Edward Grieg (for any pianists out there, the 1st of course) and began to realize exactly why these headphones cost as much as they did…
I could actually HEAR the flautist (flute) taking breaths before playing! I could also hear the bench squeak as the pianist shifted his weight. Then other subtle things such as the sound of the sustain pedal thumping when it comes back up too hard and a cough from the audience…
I was slightly iffy when I bought them on just how much better they’d be than anything I had used before. Much to my surprise, they were worth every penny.
Now, this might be using a screw driver as a hammer… but I noticed that they’re great for watching movies with too. You get that full “window shattering” rumble to the quietist steps.
Strengths:

near complete noise cancellation
great for the casual listener but made for the studio
comfortable on the ears for prolonged listening

I thought this thing was a generic mass market type product, not an audio enthusiast product.
