Strength:

The unit has a lot of power, And componet switching is a plus. Nice looking design.

Weakness:

No componet OSD ( on screen Display ) Logic 7 isn't

I Find the unit to have a sleek style yet too futuristic for my taste. Sub woofer cross over sucks. I love the fact that it has alot more power then what they rated it at ( I hope all the others will some day start to do the same). I like the price but I still think People should hold on to there money and go for the Yamaha RXV-1 . remote control needs some redesigning. I also think Logic seven can out to late ( way to Late ) . I work for Six Avenue Electronics in Paramus NJ and I most say harmon really did a great job on this one. If you need to buy today go for the denon 4800.

Strength:

The avr7000 has great warmth for music. The unit also has great channel separation in DD and DTS.Lots of POWER.

Weakness:

50 lbs, no 5 channel stereo

I have worked with harman kardon products for three years at Circuit City. And have always been fond of onkyo products and have owned many of their receivers. I think HK has really out done their selves on this one. The unit has plenty of inputs including component switching, tons of power and great warmth and channel separation. I also think for the money its a great value and one of the best recievers of 2000. If you dont want separates this is the way to go.

90 ampere, 100 watt FTC!!

In English

The sound is great all agree. The quality of the early US-models wasn´t great. But the European version released 6 months later was uppgraded. So it´s no the same product.

So buy it now if you want a good amplifier for home cinema
and STEREO use.

Strength:

Great looks and design; strong performer

Weakness:

Documentation could be a bit better but overall no weaknesses

Delivered via fed express from OneCall.com (an authorized internet dealer). They gave me a great price. I received the unit within two days. I have the receiver hooked up to my Polk RM7500's with the Polk Powered sub-woofer 650. Everything works and sounds great with CD & DVD. No problems to speak of.

Strength:

Dynamic sound (clear and Wide)Great Surround Receiver Easy setup

Weakness:

It Is HUGE!Yet workable and a bit tight on the rear hook ups

I've been eye-balling this receiver for a while now and I finally made my decision to purchase it. When I open the box my eyes flew open and all I could say is this is a monster! Got right on hooking this baby up.Took me around a half hour put a HDCD in and WOW H/K did not disappoint me. Crystal clear sound which H/K has been noted for. Did my Bose 901's justice, deep rich base, sweet highs, great midrange. At 110 watts in the front speakers this baby sounds full in all the components I had used. Dolby Digital and DTS were even better through my Bose Acousticmass system. I recently tried the H/K 510 nice receiver although it popped when I turned the receiver off NG!(returned the 510)and got the 7000.The only flaw is switching channels through my cable box (pops)which is annoying sometimes. I also had the H/K AVR 65 for a year which I was very pleased with but not enough digital "ins" for todays digital components. This receiver has plenty of "hook ups" it's handsome and powerful! Harman Kardon is known for their audio first tech and this one lives up to it (it's not the volume it's the imaging)This receiver was manufactured in Dec 2000 they must have corrected the flaws the other folks had problems with. All in all I am very pleased with this receiver!!!!

Strength:

Design. Warm sound. Connections. Easy to install.

Weakness:

A bit heavy. Weak remote-sensor. Install instructionbook.

I had to wait six weeks for my ex. The shipping from US was a bit late... but I can only say that it was worth to wait for this amp. Did I say it was heavy. Care for your back when you install this baby...

For my Martin Logan Aerius i, I have been looking for a strong amplifier that can go down easy to low levels like 2-1 ohm. I first tried the Denon 7700 which unfortunately was a bit to weak for the mission. The dealer wanted me to buy the Yamaha DSP-A1; He said that it was the best amp for under 20.000 SEK. But I compered it with a amp-comb from NAD for only 5.000 SEK. The Yamaha had a good processor but a lousy amp!

After two weeks use, the AVR 7000 sounds very warm and strong. My speakers need a lot of power to let the lower levels flow, and the AVR 7000 sure do the job quite well!
The sound is good, but if I must complaine about something with it, the Aerius speakers hungers for even more power to make your bodyhair standing upstraight... I will buy a ROTEL amp later for bi-amping.

The instructionbook was only printed in english, and it was way to thin for this huge amplifier. H/K could watch Pioneer and maybe learn something in this matter.

The remote-signal is very weak. If only a fly gets in your way, the signal will not reach the AVR 7000. I had problems to learn in the SONY-remote, but all other remotes was better to learn in to it.

Today, this is the best AV-Amplifier you can buy under 20.000 SEK (2.222 US $) (1.538 GB £)

Strength:

Clean Sound

Weakness:

Quit working after 1 hour

Here's a quick low down. Been eyein' this receiver for sometime now. I ignored some of the warnings from you the site and purchased a B stock from UBID. It took me about 2-3 hours to hook up and tweak the system to my liking. I invited my extended family over to watch a Disney movie. 45 minutes into the movie, the receiver just quit working. I sent the receiver to Hi Tech Master Company, one of HK main repair stations. I'm still awaiting the receiver. I'll keep you updated on the results. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed.

Strength:

Accoustic characteristics, power, Perfect sound especially at higher volumes (> -10DB)

Weakness:

In stereo-mode sometimes sound not detailled enough.
No 4 channel stereo

Initially I bought a Pioneer VSX 909 receiver. At first I was very impressed bij the features and the sound, but there was a flaw in the electronics. When I changed the volume from -20DB to -6DB the receiver froze the volume level and when it reaches the -6DB level or -20DB it jumps to this volume. I changed the receiver for an another VSX 909, but this new model had the the same problem. Because the Pioneer importer in the Benelux denied the problem (or did 'nt want to solve the problem) my dealer offered me a HK 7000 for the same price.

To be honoust, both receivers are very good. The Pioneer has a bright cristal clear sound and is very detailled but lacks power to fill every inch of my room. The HK has more power and can fill every inch of my room with a superb sound, but lacks the details in sound reproduction the VSX 909 offers. It is all a matter of taste.

None the less, I am thrilled with my HK. I watched and listened to Fantasia 2000 in Dolby Digital. A complete new sound and vision experience for me. The music rolls all over my room. Especially the scene with the dancing whales reveals the powers of the HK. The bass is very powerfull and is rumbling and vibrating. The violons, the horns etc. explodes in my room form every corner.

I can recommend this product to audiophiles. Perhaps the price is a little to high but it garantees you good quality in the heart of your surround systeem.

Strength:

Nice clean looks, plenty of power, not a bucketload of reverbs and glitzy stuff.

Weakness:

If I have to be picky the depth is a bit mindblowing, but I found a spot for it anyways.

I like it. No, I´ll refrase that. I dearly love it!!!(Can´t have profanity can we?)
As it´s my first AVR I found myself getting a DVD about two days later. Stereo stuff sounds great as well. It will probably last me a good while unless I fall for that THX EX/DTS ES craze and get myself the harman/kardon AVR8000 that´s in the pipeline, only time will tell (read "the wallet")...
I´ve not had problems like a bunch of other people have, so knock on wood, it´s been dandy indeed!
