I work for The Wiz and ordered the 795 directly from Yamaha (we get sick deals, dont even ask how much it ran..) It's set up in the store and sounds great, I just wish the 995 was available or I would've went for that for a few dollars more. The remote and difference in amplifier would've been more than worth it. The biggest downside is definitely the lack of S-Video jacks and cheap speaker connections for rear/center. If you can find that reciever for $599-$650 it's a pretty good deal. I haven't been selling it though because the hit most people are better off with the 992 at $750. |

Just Bought this receiver from Uncle's and love it. The remote control does its job and doesn't detract from this great receiver. Great music reproduction also. |

I used to own the 793 until my apt got robbed and I really loved it :( Recently, I bought the 795 and IT'S GREAT! They added a few more DSP choices and DTS and I got it at Audio Excellence in NY www.audioexcellence.com. They had it for 599.00 (Unfortunately, I had to pay tax :( ) Either way anyone who buys this reciver will be very happy with their purchase. I still have the 793 remote (programmable) and it works but I prefer the smaller one with the 795 even though I have to mess with that dial. |

I just bought the RX-V795 from Uncle's and had no problems with the service. They got the receiver to me in a week at a great price. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from them again. |

I got this about a month ago from Uncles. For those of you worried about mail order: It was a factory sealed box and came in five business days from New York to California. Of course, my experience is no guarantee that yours will be the same, but every bit of info helps. This receiver rocks! After doing much research, I settled on this unit. It seemed to have the least amount of problems and had all the features I wanted. Plus, I own other Yamaha equipment and am pleased with it. I also own a Denon receiver so I don't have any bias, but it seems that Yamaha is very good at home theater products. This unit sounds great, and is very easy to use. The way this receiver functions totally makes sense, a rarity in the realm of electronic goods. All parameters are accessible from the front panel or the remote. Speaking of the remote, I actually like it. It fits nicely in my hand and I find it fairly straight forward to use. It does not control all the parameters of my equipment because it is not a learning remote, but I find it controls the receiver very well. I didn't care about the lack of s-video on the dvd input because I go straight from my dvd into my t.v., but I agree that it seems silly that they have one for the vcr and aux input where there are no digital audio inputs. The spring clips also don't bother me because if you are using nice enough speakers where this will really affect the sound quality then you should be buying a nicer receiver. However, once again, I do agree that it seems like they could have included binding posts for all the speakers at a minimal cost. There is really not anything about this receiver that I do not like, it excels where it should; in function and sound. The dsp's can be great, you just need to find the right one for the situation, if the situation calls for one at all. But for instance, the disco setting for techno music is incredible. It completely surrounds you and sounds like Dolby Digital 5.1. Also, don't be fooled by the name of the dsp's; for example, the Jazz setting can sound great on other types of music and the Rock Concert setting actually has less delay than the "intimate" jazz setting. Pay no attention to the names of the settings and just use your ear. Buying this receiver was the easiest decision I made in putting together my home theater. Five stars relative to its competition. By the way, some features of this receiver that are seldom listed are that you can compress the dynamic range of Dolby Digital so that you can listen at low volumes, and you can also dim the display. |

Got the Yamaha 795 for $699 after Christmas. Have it hooked up to Cambridge Soundworks speakers, Ensembell II for the mains, Center Plus, and Surround II.5. It sounds soo good. Can't wait to get the Toshiba 2108 DVD player and the powered Sub from Cambridge Soundworks. Wife is keeping me on tight budget. |

having read the reviews, it seems that i might be the only one deciding between the 795 and the rx-v595... hass any 'audiophile' out there had a chance to compare the two?? the power situation concerns me a little. wil the difference in power between the two units (15 watts i believe) be enough of a difference to MAKE a difference? also, i think that i'm the only one out there that actually LIKES the remotes for these units... especially with phantom menace coming soon... *grins* |
