Gobs of velvet wrapped power...detail and depth is remarkable. Features...
Weakness:
None that I can discern I had this amp on order for about two months...purchased it sight unseen on the strength of the reviews and auditioning the C340. What can I say, after a month + of use, it's a terrific product. Im running a NAD C521 CD player and a Marantz 6300 turntable through it with great results. My speakers are the fabulous AE1's coupled with a Paradigm 12" sub. Im using IXOS cables exclusively. Most of my listening is straight ahead jazz and occasionally classical. I love this system...much kudos to NAD! Similar Products Used: Sony ES A/V Reciever, Denon integrated |

The Power, it's unreal!!! It's simple to use,and idiot proof.
Weakness:
The remote, on one hand its simple to use after you find out where all the keys are; But I wish that the keys were light up for those lazy people like me. Aswell that it's key pad was just a bit bigger. To sit down and listen to this monster takes awhile to get used to!. Your ears practicly feel like they have been born again! I was not expecting any thing at all when I sat down to listen to it; thinking it was going to be in the same class as the C 340 that I had prevoiusly owned before. Now when I went to pick it up at the store, I had not even listen to it. I just order out of the NAD booklet. As I opened it up and took it from the box the diference was starting to take place. As I sat down to listen to the C370, It was clear and crisp full of LIFE! detailed and dead bang on.Plus in NAD traditon, so simple to use. It blew my old C340 out of the water! If you can afford this beast,BUY IT!!!! you will not want no other. Similar Products Used: NAD ALL THE WAY!!!BABE!! |

You can't ask for a better sounding or more flexible amplifier near this price.
Weakness:
Remote is so-so. I think Jose needs his ears checked. He doesn't even own the amp, nor does he explain the other gear hooked up to it. This amp is quite revealing, detailed, and powerful and will not sugar coat bad recordings or BAD ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. I have a rather cheap VCR hooked up to it with cheap interconnects and, yes, it sounds rather cloudy and muffled. When I use my Marantz tuner or my cd player (MSB Link DAC) all wired with very good Kimber wires and Canare Digiflex Gold cable the sound is just astounding! A friend of mine said he thinks my set-up sounds better than his reference grade headphones: A very big compliment especially considering some well respected audio reviewers (Stereophile) feel headphones can provide the VERY best sound possible (other than live). Jose didn't even use the NAD with his CD player or tell what CD player was hooked up to the Rotel or the NAD when he went to the dealer. Jose's review is not subjective or useful on any level. Come on Jose. Even the NAD has gotten rave reviews from recognized audio press. I haven't heard a better performing integrated near this price. All the flexibility built in is just a bonus. Take Jose's review with a grain of salt, better yet, a block. Similar Products Used: Other NAD, Musical Fidelity, Rotel, Bryston |

Unbelievable clarity, brings music to life.
Weakness:
None I have just hooked up my new NAD C370 (my old amp was an older Pioneer at 240w total RMS) and I just cannot believe the difference! The clarity of this amp is just outstanding! The notes are sharp and crisp and what is the most remarkle is how at low volumes I get an incredible full, rich sound. The first noticable difference asside from the clarity is the increased, 'sharpness', and 'fullness' of the sound. It is as if the performers are right in my living room as I feel there is so much 'life' to the music. Another way of putting it is as if my speakers just came to life, they are fuller and sound better then I have ever imagined. The bass on my pioneer was deep and long, but on this amp it is very sharp and does not interfere with the acoustics of the music. It's like every instrument has its own channel. (The clarity is really something else!). I was hesitent about upgrading my system as my amp was more then loud enough and I thought sounded pretty good (until I listened to the NAD C370). Now I know what a true Audiphile amp sounds like and it is worth every penny and more. Congratulations NAD for an incredible amp. Similar Products Used: Pioneer, Yamaha |

Clean, pure power. Simple set-up. Lots of inputs, for my VCR, my cable radio, my CD player, and so on. People say it requires a break-in period, but that was not the case for me -- although I did get a floor demonstrator model that had already been played some amount. I have challenging speakers and this amp drive them, to use the over used term, efortlessly, even at levels that set your chest to resonating. The controls are simple and rational and the lettering on the controls and connections are not so squinchy and low contrast that you need a flashlight and magnifying glass to tell which one is which. (Hey, the years will catch up with you too.) Although it's unfashionable these days, this has tone controls if you like to fiddle, and it has a tone defeat if you want to just get a pure signal. Absolutely no hum, even at max, with no active signal. No speaker pops when changing. Heavy transients like bass drum beats are clear and tight. Symbols and snare precise. Vocals sound natural. For the money this is a great amp. It's better than my Heath AR-1500 when it was new, and that is saying something. If you are unfamiliar with old Heath products, my nerdy freinds and I put it on a rack against a venerated McIntosh amp amd the Heath amplifier section blew it away. I don't have test equipment for the NAD C370, but my ears tell me it is as good as my speakers and headphones can reproduce. It's a bargain, but I may need to upgrade my speakers and that won't be cheap.
Weakness:
Well, it big and heavy. But that probably goes with the terratory. It lacks a "loudness" control, which is a bit of a bother since I listen a lot at night at modest volume to avoid waking others and the loudness compensates for the non-linearity of human perception across the frequency range. My AR-1500 had a loudness circuit that gradually phased out automatically at higher gain to avoid giving a distorted sound at normal listenning levels. Thats a nice feature (and having wired the beast myself I know it's not that much extra circuitry.) I'm not entirely happy with the remote, though it is adequate. The volume buttons will stick in the down position if you don't push at the pointy part of the little triangular buttons. And I wish I could shut the amp down with the remote, rather than putting it into standby mode. The users manual is quite terse, which is a mixed blessing. For example, it did not describe the type of connector for the speaker outputs and when I tried to insert my banana plugs they wouldn't go. Turned out the sockets were just VERY tight and a bit of grunting got them to slide in, but I wish they had told me that I need to push kinda hard rather than letting me worry if I was about to bust it with the wrong plugs. On the otherhand, you can skim the few pages of details pretty quickly for the fact you need. They do not tell you how to do what you want to do, just what the amp provides in a no nonsense way. Kinda refreshing in a way. (Except for those @#$% banana sockets.) If you get one, you need to install batteries in the remote and you really need to use a dime to pry it open. A screwdriver will not work. The instructions are also mute on this. I guess they market to an intelligent European clientel, and this dumb American had trouble getting the battery compartment open. And finally, I wish it had phono equalization built in. NAD sells a nice phone preamp for a hundred buck or so, and that's a good deal, but still, I wish it was part of the "Integrated" amp. Not sure what I can add. The amp is driving a set of home made Bose 901's (Series 1) which are power hungry due to the active equalization required. (Bose bigots can flame me if they like, but I built these speakers for $100 in parts, and *that* is a deal:-) The input sources are digital cable radio, a Sony CD player, my VCR (JVC, very good stereo reproduction at SP, compared to any casette recorder within an order of magnitude of the JVC price, and an NAD C440 tuner. (This is not a review of the tuner, but if you are familar with Heath tuners, I can say it is not quite as good.) I also have an old AR turntable, but with no phono preamp, it's in a box, probably permanantly. The 901's require an equalizer, which works well through the C370's tape monitor facility. I can honestly say that the only music I've heard that sounds appreciably better was at live concerts, and a recording studio I once frequented. Well built, power, good remote control, price.
Weakness:
Sound quality, no phono stage. I did a direct comparison between the NAD C370 and the Arcam Diva A75, at home with the same set up for a week. I borrowed the amps from my local HiFi store with the thought of buying one. Ok power wise you cannot compare (50W Arcam, 120W Nad) but they are the same price and I am interested in sound quality. The NAD is a nice amp with loads of features (a pity that it does not have a phono stage) and it's build quality is superb. The sound is full and rich, you know it's got all that power waiting to be released and that's the problem that I have with this amp, it doesn't release it's power willingly, it hangs on to it. The tonal range also seems to be repressed and muddy. With full orchestral work the body is there and it's impressive but during the lighter passages it dosen't sing or dance, it's subdued. On closer inspection the bass is too loose for my taste, I like the bass quality to be taught and it wasn't. Similar Products Used: Arcam A75.(Similar in Price) |
