Strength:

Excellent power! Good remote. Smooth.

Weakness:

Had to paint a white line on teh volume knob with whiteout so I could see what the level was set at. Screws fell out of unit in box during shipping.

I love this amp. It is powerful, clean and easy to use. Contrary to what other people say, I like the remote. I think it works well and is simple to operate.

The only thing I don't like about this amp, is that it was made in China. I think the quality control is not the greatest in their factory. When I took the amplifier out of the box, three screws had come loose and fell out of the bottom of the unit. I don't like having to replace screws on something I just spent 600 dollars on. But they went right back in and the amp sounds beautiful.

I am using the NAD in conjunction with a pair of JBL S412Ps and a soon to be replaced Sony CD changer. I have used Kimber 4TC cable and a set of Homegrown Audio Super Silver II interconnects. It sounds great!

Although I am sure there are better pieces available, at this price I am VERY happy with my low-high-end or high-low-end audio equipment.

Strength:

Dynamic, detailed, and very balanced sound. Bass-ranges are fabulous. A bargain for the price - truly a giant-killer.

Weakness:

Echoing what others have said, the remote could be better, and the casing of the unit itself isn't very sturdy, but it's what's inside that counts, right?

I paid a tad bit more than average for the C370, but it was hard to find a major dealer in my area, so I had to take what I could get - I ended up getting mine from a home security place which preferred operating incognito, for some strange reason. The whole purchasing experience seemed very black-marketish, but they were listed on NAD's dealer list.

Anyway, enough of my drivel, and on to the C370. I did a lot of checking around before I decided on the C370, but I was ultimately impressed by the versatility, add-on capability, simplicity, and beefiness of power offered by this int. amp. The C370 is very balanced in terms of sound, and contrary to expectations, I haven't had to use the tone controls very much during the past two weeks that I've owned this thing. I have somewhat of a picky ear in terms of hifi sound, and although I've heard slightly better mid-range detail from a few other much more expensive units, the C370's over-all dynamic balance is so impressive that I wouldn't trade it for any of them. This thing smokes the $1300 Parasound separates that I once had - the Parasound had great mid-range detail, but unimpressive over-all sound mostly due to poorer lower freq. reproduction.

I've been listening to classical and jazz on this thing non-stop just because of the way it brings those recordings to life. It supports lower frequencies at low volume levels which is impressive, and brings out detail in a faithful manner. It's too bad those poor sales idiots at Circuit City don't know what they're missing by proclaiming their ignorant mantra, "2-ch. stereo is dead" - if they only knew the reality of the situation.

I'm not one who gives out 5 stars like candy - 5 stars are reserved for the best - and the C370 stands well above the rest in its class, as well as above units more than twice as much its price. The preamp stage contains class A circuitry based on the NAD C160 Preamp, and the power amp stage has the muscle of the C270 - you would pay at least $1200 for this type of sound in the form of separates. It has all of the must-have features, it's expandable, it's powerful, bargain price, but most of all - a beautiful sound that will stir your emotions - 5 stars all the way!

WELL I BOUGHT THIS AMP. WITHOUT TESTING TOO MANY OTHERS, FOR IT WAS NAMED TO BE BEST IN IT'S PRICE, I LOVE THE NAD SOUND (FOR POUND), AND IT MATHCES MY TUNER WICH I BOUGHT EARLIER(NAD C-420). IT IS DLEARLY SUPERIOR TO THE 350 IN MY EARS. IT IS POWERFULL AND DYNAMIC WITH HIGH CONTROL. I'M NOT SURE I CAN EVALUATE/JUDGE OTHER ASPECTS OF SOUND FOR MY CDP IS NOT THE BEST FOR THIS MISSION (NAD C-540).
I ENJOY THIS AMP. VERY MUCH, AND I FANTACISE HOW I WILL BI AMP IT SOME DAY, IN THE SHOT RUN.

Strength:

Clean highs, clean and open mid's, tight, deep and controlled base, excellent definition. Build quality and ease of use.

Weakness:

Cannot find any as yet. Some critisize the remote but I find it of good quality and sturdy. It has a different shape but thats ok, it's a welcome change from the normal.

Many years ago I looked for an integrated amp. When I looked at the NAD's I passed them over because of there looks. Foolish, foolish man I was. Now I'm older, smarter more open minded.

Enter the NAD C370, It's hard to express just how great this amp is without listening first hand. It is very powerful but yet handles low volumes with expertise. It is very open and detailed in sound. It will go as high or low as your other electronics tell it, but with good control. All the controls work well with precise, fluid movement. It is simple to operate and user friendly. It seems to sound better the longer it gets broken in. In my opinion it is tonally correct. The remote is a little different, but it is well made even though it is plastic ( I've been told Krell uses plastic remotes so why complain). The remote works well and is ergonomically "incorrect" ever so slightly, but still a joy to use. The construction is what you would expect from NAD, solid! I have no complaints. It was $690.00 with tax included. At this price it is an excellent choice. If I would have spent a $1000.00 it still would have been a good deal. Give this amp. a try, you more than likely will be very pleased. There is a good reason why all the others who wrote before me gave it a "5" and now I know why they did, so, I give it a "5" also!!

Strength:

A clear and open mid-band with a natural warm sound akin to older tube units I have owned. A coherent tonal balance from top to bottom that is both correct and most pleasing. Treble both polite yet definate. A strong yet reserved low end that takes definitive control of the woofers in my B&W 805's. Excellent resolution at low listening levels without loss of dynamic range.

Weakness:

There should be more ventilation on the top of the cabinet with a better designed air-flow. Lacks adequate sized speaker terminals for bi-wiring from a single set of posts. Remote control has triangular buttons that can jam- this should be noted by all high volume listeners.

This amplifier must be heard to be believed. To say it is a Giant Killer would be dead on. I have not heard an integrated amplifier at less than double the price of the NAD C370 that even came close. It separates itself from the crowd of amplifiers in this price range with an exceptional clarity and tonal balance one would expect from the most serious of audiophile gear. I matched the NAD C370 with a NAD CD player, a vintage McIntosh tuner, Stax Sigma Headphones and an Aiwa Excelia XK-009 cassette deck along with B&W 805's and a B&W subwoofer for a terrific mini-system in my den.

This is a follow up review for my prior review. The amp has really opened up and I could not be more pleased with its performance. I have incorporated it into my surround system using a DVD player that has a built-in DTS decoder by connecting the 5.1 outputs for the main speakers directly into the NAD. I am using a separate three channel amp to drive the surrounds and centers (actually using two centers). So, if you are looking for a great amp this is definitely a good choice. The other reason for this review is I emailed audioreview.com and asked them to remove the dopey review below (and from the Rotel site which matches exactly) but they never responded. As for Mr. Burrows from Holland, who gave the C370 three stars, it is obvious that his review is legitimate and that he did some serious comparing. Thus, his review should be given its proper weight.

Strength:

Tonal balance, dynamics, good quality tone controls, musicality

Weakness:

Certainly none at the price. Some detail missing, but not to the extent that you cannot follow each musical strand.

My listening is mainly classical, choral, a bit of vocal, some jazz.

I am very happy with this amplifier. There is an eminent feeling of rightness about the tonal balance, deep controlled bass, smooth mid-range, extended detailed highs.

The C370 comes with a very large toroidal transformer and it has a fantastic ability to handle dynamic swings. Piano transients are beautifully and fluidly portrayed. C370 motors through large-scale orchestral scores without any sense of strain or congestion, whilst remaining communicative with less complex forms of music.

Compared with the Sony, it is a better match with my CD player and speakers. The Sony has slightly sweeter, more extended highs, more detail no question, and very tight, fast bass. It was, however, very "sharp/incisive" and a sound like the "ting" of a triangle decayed very rapidly so that overall this had the effect of the music of, say a Bach concerto, sounding mechanical and stoccato-like - too analytical. Also, the power piano chords in the opening of the Grieg piano concerto distorted when played loudly (about 10:30 on the volume knob) through the Sony, as if it could not control the B&W Kevlar cones fully. (At this volume point I cannot believe that clipping was the problem). The C370 played this piece louder without any hint of strain. Brass sounded overly brash on Sony amp. The Sony CD player-Sony amp-B&W 602S2 combination was very unforgiving with inferior recordings. The bass tone control of the Sony was inferior - increasing the bass made that awful rumbly noise background.

The C350 sounded similar to the C370 with excellent tonal balance. It was slightly less crisp in the highs and had less of the C370's detail, I felt. Where the C350 fell short of the C370 was in dynamics and headroom (this is understandable, given its cheaper price). It, like the Sony, could not handle the Grieg piano chords at comparable volume level to the C370 without distortion. (It was in fact worse than the Sony here, in spite of NAD's advertised ISC technology. Sony's toroidal tranformer is noticeably larger.) Ultimately, I decided that I wanted the dynamic ability of the C370 (at extra cost of course) and the extra power, which may be needed if I ever want drive speakers other than B&W 602S2.

I chose the C370 for its tonal balance, dynamics, power headroom, musicality and performance with a wide range of music genre. In my opinion you need the tone controls with all the CD's that are too "tizzy" in the high end (this may be a fault of the 44.1 kHz sampling medium in many cases)

It is not the last word in analytical detail or pin-point imaging. I gladly sacrificed these for the qualities in the above paragraph. AT THIS PRICE-POINT I do not know of an amplifier with everything that the C370 has + tighter bass + clearer mid-range + more extended high-range + the analysis of a surgeons knife + "pin-point" imaging + makes less-than perfect CD recordings sound so good. Please let me know if you do.

It is a possiblity that my CD-player is a bit of a problem as a source. It is not a "budget" player, and I am waiting to see where the digital format is going before I consider replacing it.

My system:

Sony CDP-CA80ES CD player
Hitachi FT-5500 II tuner
NAD 533 turntable with PP-1 phono stage
Pioneer CT-W606DR tape deck - removes any FM hiss very well
NAD C370 amp
B&W 602 S2 speakers (biwired)
Kimber PBJ interconnect
Kimber 4PR speaker cable.

(Speaker stands are made of brick & filled with concrete weighing 120 kg (264 lb) each, mounted on stainless steel rings - so they're not going anywhere!! For anyone with small children and concerned with stands being tipped over -they are very safe. I had made a wrought iron platform with a sleeve (internally padded with high density foam cut to size) to fit over the top of each stand. They look stunning!! and the total cost was $US 80.)

In my opinion, the NAD C370 amplifier is a 5-star product.

Strength:

Plenty Of Reserve Power 7 line inputs Speakers A&B selector Price

Weakness:

First one tried returned due to dead right channel. Speaker terminals too tight for banana plugs.

The NAD is a great integrated amp with 120 watts of reserve power & plenty of headroom it is fine piece of gear. It takes time to break in sounding
a bit upfront at first. It's 7 line inputs are a real plus in integrated amp fare & even vs preamps. Most integrateds boast loads of techno-babble features but lack inputs. The first NAD c370 I purchased had a dead right channel which made me leary but my dealer exchanged it without hassle. That is the difference with a reputable walk in shop & Mail Order nightmares. The A or B speaker selection is the only one I'm aware of on an integrated amp, a definite plus.
The binding posts are too tight for bananas but a little crimping to the ends works. This amp wins on sound & power with most others cutting off at under 75 watts. It won two amps of the year awards in the UK. Frank F. DHVCD

Strength:

Powerfull, good bass, mids, highs. Good quality internal componets. Easy to use

Weakness:

Are you kidding none, only small things...Binding posts aent the absolute best, but work great for me.

First of all, i want to say that this is a great amp for anyone who needs a simple, powerfull great all around amp W/O handing over a life savings. As soon as i took this amp out of the box and hooked it up i noticed a definete change in the sound, for the better. All the instruments were smooth and clear, bass is fast and powerfull, and there is plenty of power to go around. And of course being me i had to examine the inside trough the vents. I could obviosly see that they used only the best componets in there. Massive Toroidal transformer, Alps volume control etc etc. On the outside this amp is plain and simple, no fancy face plate or knobs. But woud you rather have that or sound quality?....The remote is great for me, i dont use a tape deck but it doesnt bother me that theres buttons for it, all the basic important stuff is easy to find. As far as the sound goes..well no loss in this department the paino and guitars were soo smooth and natural, everythingis clear and airy, the way it should be. Also, there is NO distortion, try and put your ear aginst the tweet w/o any music playing Dead silent. Which is of course a plus!. To sum i all up this is a GREAT amp inside and out and i would definetly reccomend buying it. Trust me you wont be dissapointed. And if ou wanna know where a good AUTHORIZED place to buy these online is. look no further than YAWAonline.com i bought mine there and they are Fanatstic. I ordered a damaed box ( nothing more than a little ding ) for $529 and got a perfect brand new amp WITH the 2 yr warranry because theyre authorized, remeber that.

Strength:

Preserves detail; lovely, controlled bass; plentiful power; extremely musical with good source material; nice, simple design

Weakness:

Looks good alongside other NAD components, not so good against others; detail can be overwhelming at first

I started off with the NAD C541 CD player and the HK AVR300RDS, after trying various setups in the shop. I felt that the C541/C370 combination was a bit too detailed (to the extent of being annoying) in the shop, but when I got the C541/AVR300RDS combo home, I felt there was something missing: detail.

At best, the AVR300RDS was vague, especially with the midrange, and the bass was overpowering everything else (my flat has very thick internal stone walls which didn't help matters). I've heard the AVR300RDS described as a "thug" and I couldn't agree more.

So I exchanged the AVR300RDS for the NAD C370. Actually, the shop let me keep both for a week to compare, but it only took minutes of running the C370 to realise that the AVR300RDS was going to stay in the box.

The difference was shocking. The C370 was so dynamic and detailed at the same time. I could hear details that I'd only ever heard on my headphones, and the bass never got out of shape once.

OK, so I have lost all the multi-channel, surround magic of the AVR300RDS, but I couldn't stand its mob-like musical rendition after hearing the C370 in action.

Things I have yet to try:

1) Using decent interconnects between the pre/power amps instead of the jumpers provided.
2) Bi-amping with the C270 (which I intend to try very soon). Any pointers about bass/treble splitting against mono-blocking would be appreciated...

My current system:

NAD C541 CD player
NAD C370 Integrated Amp
IXOS interconnects (CD->Amp)
Infinity Alpha 40 speakers
QED Silver Anniversary speaker cable (bi-wired)

Final word:

Amazing amplifier, well worth the money, and I expect the investment in the C270 for bi-amping will be equally sucessful.
