Strength:

Sturdy, clarity and tight bass.

Weakness:

none

When I first hooked the cables up to the system, the first thing I noticed was the hum stopped and all instruments and voices were very detailed. I test equipment with (new age) which that music provides me different type of frequencies, the bass range, midrange and the highs. Have great sound stage presentation, details unheard of before these cables were installed on my system. I recommend them to anybody who want great cables without having to dent your savings account to have quality product.

Strength:

Great build quality, nice looks, and improved clarity of the bass

Weakness:

Seemed to soften the bass from the sub a little bit but this could be a side effect from reducing distortion

For a long time I was never a firm believer in theory that cables could make a impact in the performance of an audio system. When my roommate (who happens to think he is an audio know-it-all) claimed that the obnoxious humming my subwoofer was making might be eliminated by upgrading my cheap RCA cables to something “a little more expensive”, I scoffed at the idea. Just to prove he was wrong however, I went shopping around. After checking out the reviews for BetterCables, I decided I would try it out. The original plan was to buy a subwoofer cable (it is the same as the audio interconnect cable which is why I am posting here), prove I was right and just ship it back. When I received the package a few days later, my roommate and I plugged the cable in and we tried it out. To my surprise, the humming was greatly reduced. While I did not notice the “night and day” difference as some reviewers suggested, I must admit that the bass seemed clearer and less distorted. I can honestly admit that this was one of the few times that I was glad I was wrong. Thanks BetterCables for an outstanding product!

Strength:

Good clear sound, nice looking cables

Weakness:

very loose fitting connections

I received these interconnects along w/ a silver serpent S-video cable and biwire speaker cables for my front 3 channels. I wish I had done a side by side comparison w/ the patch cords instead of hooking everything up at once. The fit of these interconnects was much too loose for my comfort, so I emailed Bettercables inquiring if this was a defective set or not. The response I received was not as I had hoped, they informed me that this "style" of cable does not have a tight fit. Fine, but this was not just not tight, it was almost sloppy loose. Plan on sending them back for a refund. I was pleased with the big improvement in sound from both cd's and dvd's, but didn't know which of the cables deserved the credit. Two weeks ago I purchased a Tributaries optical cable. WOW what a difference optical makes. Not ragging on Bettercables, LOVE the speaker cables and S-video cable, but I have to have very snug connections to be comfortable. Buy it, try it, you've got nothing to lose. BTW these are shipped fron NY I believe, and my order came 2 days EARLY, so don't be discouraged about the negative reviews about "having to wait" It's mail order--everybody waits.

Strength:

Nice build and appearance. Good company garauntee.

Weakness:

Until recently, I didn't know of any.... Now I see these are nowhere near the quality of pure silver cables.

I enjoyed these cables fairly much until upgradeitis hit me. I began searching for something that would offer a great, not simply marginal, improvement. Well, I found it for a lot less than I expected. CATCables.com Silvercats simply slaughter these cables for only a bit more money (+50%). I heard great things about silver and Silvercats (CATCables) so I took the plunge. WOW was all I kept saying. My Paradigm Studio 40's really came to life with the CATCables.com cables vs my old bettercables interconnects.

Anyway, specifics about this bettercables interconnects:
-Great build
-Great customer service
-Good sound and dollar value

-Not even close to the bargain or sound found in Silvercats interconnects

I did blind cable switches to check for the oooooo I upgraded I must hear something syndrome. Glad to report that my friends came over without knowledge of the upgrade and immediately commented about the imrpoved sound quality. I then proceeded to change around between AR, BC and CatC to check for their (my friends) reactions. Silvercats bested the others every time!

I am giving a V: 3,0: 3 simply because they are beaten hardily by the silvercats. 3 for value cause they aren't bad at all, but your money is better spent on pure silver based cables. 3 for overall because they don't hold a candle to 99.99% silver based cables.

Strength:

Great deal, low impedance, good image rejection, fine detail and resolution of sounds

Weakness:

I don't know what some of these reviewers were listening too or whether they purchased some bad weed, but these are very, very good cables.

I used them in all the systems I owned with the result that I preferred them to almost all the cables I own except my Mapleshade Ultra-thin Double helix, a $350 cable.

My system:

Von Schweikert VR-4s
BetterCables Silver Serpent
Thorens TD-145 TT
Monarchy M-33 DAC/Preamp
Transcendent CG preamp
DHLabs speaker cable
Monarch SM-70 pro Amps in Balanced Mode
Theta Data Basic II CD

I listened to incredibly varied music and these cables shine on all of them.

Just started putting together a mid-fi system togther consisting of:

Maranz AV9000 PreAmp
B&K 7250 AMP
Thiel CS 3.6 (bought used)
Panasonic RP-91 DVD Player
BetterCables premium speaker cables
Waiting for new Rotel RCD 1071 cd player

The story goes, after reading all the reviews for bettercable speaker cables I decided to go ahead and purchase them. Since they forgot to ship them for three weeks they offered me a free pair of silver serpant audio interconnects which I used to connect my amp and pre-amp. Turned the power on, pressed play, wow, this system sucks. Now I know Thiels are very demanding speakers and require a lot of power and high quaility components. Here I am using a low end DVD player as my cd player and a mediocre amp. I still had hope for my system and borrowed an arcam 8se cd player from a friend, significant boost in performance but still lots of room for improvement. Now my blame turned torward my amp, and being that I overshot my original budget this was the last thing I wanted to replace. Still waiting for the rotel cd player (hopefully in a week or two) I went out and purchased Monster M1000i interconnects for the cd player to preamp connection. Just for the heck of it I swapped out the silver serpents and it was amazing, the soundstage was huge, bass was much tighter, clarity was amazing. Granted the Monster cables were double the price but what an improvement, well worth it. Now the next thing I want to do is try out different speaker cables. In my opinion bettercables may give a boost to very low end systems but has no right to even entertain the thought of being mid-fi let alone hi-fi.

Strength:

Sturdy, well insulated,

Weakness:

connections a little loose on DVD player

I've known for some time that cables do make a difference. Back in the late seventies my Harmon Kardon turntable came with what at the time were good cables. I still continued to use the bundled cables through the years tho for everything else... CD, Tape, EQ, VCR.
When I bought my DVD player I had the ability to make A B comparisons of cables. There is a DVD out and CD out so I could easily switch between cables with a push of a button on the DVD player. Comparing my bundled cables to my old phono cables opened my eyes. Quality does make a difference, those gold plated well insulated phono cables were a lot better than what pioneer included in the box. My old Polk 10 Studio monitors opened up and became more expansive yet instrument locations were more focused. I thought I was listening to a vinyl record instead of a CD. So I took the next step went to a hifi shop and bought some monster cables. Not much of an improvement over the old trusty phono cables so I returned them and bought some tributaries. These were so good they made my good phono cables sound like the bundled cables.
I thought I would be happy with these but I read an article on one of the Home Theater web sites about Better Cables. So I thought I would call them up and get a price quote. The cables were cheaper than tributaries and were supposed to be just as good so I ordered them.
I wish I hadn't done that, they weren't just as good they were better still. Needless to say my system hasn't sounded better. I took the tributaries back, wouldn't give me a refund after 30 days but they did exchange them for a Tributaries subwoofer cable.
I wish I hadn't waited so long to upgrade my cables but I'm enjoying them now. The price may seem great at first but you would have to pay more for speakers or amps or players to get better sounding system and we all know that can run.

Strength:

Sound detail, Build quality.

Weakness:

None.

These cable instantly produced more detail from my CD player (Sony CDP-CA9ES). They sounded even better after some use but that might have just been me getting used to them. The bass was "tighter" and the sound from the speakers was more detailed. I'm never using the bundled cables for anything again.

Strength:

Many! Much improved sound!

Weakness:

None noticed!

These cables are/sound (right away!) much better than the others mentioned above, though the Tara Labs is pretty good too. Not impressed by the (pricier) Corals; they are not as good by a clear margin.

Used from my Sony DVP-7700 DVD/CD player to the AUX IN
of an old SAE A14 integrated amp. (a nice piece of equipment!). May try running it through my Harmon Kardon
510 receiver first- to see what new Silver Sepent digital Coax cable from Better Cables does).

See my more specific review "misplaced" under the Better
Cables 'standard" Digital Coax cables for more specifics.
Also an interesting discussion of efforts to improve my home's AC power, both for entertainment and personal health reasons.

I have a new Rotel system including an RSP-976 processor with a RB-985 MKII amp and 951 CD player. The speakers so far are a pair of B&W CDM 9NT's.

I wanted to purchase interconnects that are of good quality without paying huge bucks.
I'm very happy with the quality and build of the cables and the customer support.

I compared Alpha Core Tourmaline and BetterCables interconnects and basically found no difference in the sound. So I saved $30 a pair by keeping the Bettercables interconnects.

I have called Brad a few times to determine additional cables I will need for the home theater setup.
He is always willing to provide prompt and accurate advice which is more than I can say for the store I purchased all the Rotel and B&W equipment from.
