I confess to not lavishing as much money on my home theater system as I have my dedicated music system, so when I discovered the Home Theater Grade interconnects at Radio Shack they were the perfect alternative to more expensive high-end cables. These directional cables very closely resemble Monster brand interconnects, down to the size, shape and design of the plugs...... Hmmm...... Internal construction is very good. Unlike the cheaper Radio Shack interconnects, these babies are balanced, with a separate 100 per cent foil shield and drain wire. Signal conductors are also separated by a dielectric material that looks a lot like teflon. Unscrewing the collar of the RCA plug reveals each wire connection to be plastic encapsulated. These cables come only in 6 foot lengths, which for most of my use is 3 feet too long, so in order to avoid excessive noise pickup, I cut them in half and reterminated one end of each interconnect with WBT silver solder. Cutting open and removing the plastic encapsulation was a job in itself that took very careful cutting with a utility knife. For the price, I can't fault these interconnects. I could detect no detrimental effects on the sound. They are a cut way above the el-cheapo cables that come with many components. If you are looking for very well-constructed interconnecting cables and don't want to spend a lot, these fit the bill. Four stars for performance and value. Home theater components: Harman Kardon PT-2500 preamp, HK PA5800 multichannel power amp, Pioneer laser disc/CD combi player, Mitsubishi Hi-fi stereo VCR, Optimus STS-65 and STS-55 front and rear surrounds, Optimus PRO CS-3 center channel, Optimus PRO SW-14 subwoofer. |

These cables are the best bang for $, IMHO. I bought these on sale for $9.99. Stocked up and bought myself 5 packs. They are 6th and balanced and looks like the best cables that Radio Shack sell. |

I just got back from the Shack to see if they had any more of these cables in stock, and they did. These aren't the "standard" gold series interconnects that they usually sell. These are directionally balanced, OFC, and 24k gold plated. They are clones to the Monser Interlink 400 which retail for around $50 dollars. The best part...they are clearing them out for good at $5.97. If you have RS near by I suggest you check them out. They still have plenty at the warehouse and scatered among the other stores, so if you want them, insist they get them. I picked up 5 more today, and I will be getting about 10 more for fuure use. At $5.97, it's the best steal in town. |

These are very good cables for the price.I used to spend ALOT of money on cables and got very little improvement on my investment.I say that people should quite pissing money away on cables and spend the money on items that can make a bigger difference in sound quality. For instance put the money you are about to blow on fancy cables into better components or speakers. That will make ALOT more difference than cables.Think of how many more DVD`s or CD`s you can buy instead of 1/2 meter cables for $150.00. |

What a loser you are... Solid core is used for phone wire, what do you think Cat5 cable and Cat3 cable is you dick? Besides, I wasn't saying the cables were bad. I was just saying these aren't physically identical inside as the TARA Prisms.. |

I must Agree with Frank. NO. These might be OK for the "reciever" crowd, but I am suprised they arent buying the Monster stuff (actually the M series stuff is ok). If you could put RCA connector's on a booger it would sound better. |

Does not cost enough to lure unsatisfied audiophiles. Hey ILLINOIS,you really need to get a life. My system cost around $14.000 and I had a small fortune wrapped up in cables a while back.I decided to try some inexpensive cables and I REALLY could NOT hear any difference. You go ahead and piss your money away on expensive cables because I am going to put my money where it counts.Like better equipment, room accoustics and quality recordings. calrity For the price these guys are great. I did hesr a change in tonl quality when i changed to the $15 Jade. I used the cable for the subwoofer LFE connection. The RS cable had excellent low rumbing bass but lacked tightness. Any how for all users if you like these go ahead and try a comparison. Oh yeah..no need to be hostile over these guys Similar Products Used: Audioquest Jade |

just in my judgement when purchasing cables You are right. I realize that I'm a fool and don't really know what the hell I'm talking about, especially when it comes to audio. I'm only 15 and this is really my first system. I don't really have $14,000 worth or equipment, I have an Optimus receiver and some Bose Acoustispaz speakers that I got at a garage sale. The Bose speakers I found in the trash behind my house, I mean shack. The rest of my gear was purchased at Sam's Club and Homo Depot. The one star rating is for me and my system.
