Strength:

My review is for the BetterCables 75-ohm ULTRA Digital audio cable, the big brother to the digital audio cable from bettercables listed here. Now to the strengths it's simply the clarity and warmth the cable produces in movie soundtracks. This cable is a step up from the Bettercables 75 ohm Digital audio cable only because of the warmness and slight clarity improvements it produces. Highly recommended.

Weakness:

I have used the ULTRA DIgital cable for nearly 2 months and have not found 1 problem.

The better cables ULTRA Digital cable runs for $59.99 For a 1 meter run. In my comparison of the 2 other digital cables I have, it completely out performed the Harman Cardas and was also $20.00 cheaper, I won't go any further as saying I was never satified nor impressed at any time with the Harman Cardas.
The BetterCables ULTRA out distanced the Monster Datalink 100 in several areas, but most importantly in the clarity of dialouge, and the more productive soundstage which felt more alive.
Simply put I am very satisfied with the ULTRA Digital cable, and do highly recommend it to any one looking for a better upgrade.

Strength:

best quality ever seen

Weakness:

none

I have never seen/heard a cable with such a quality. I used monster toslink and coax cable. I never thought that a cable could top the quality of these cables.
But this cable was able to top all other cables. You could even hear the difference, the sound is much clearer.
Connected to a DVD player the sound effects of movies are much clearer than ever before

BetterCables.com is a company that knows what customer service is. I have several of their cables and they have improved the video portion of my home theater system just the way Brad said they would. I know of no other company that will let you use their product for six months and allow you to return the product if you are not satisfied. BetterCables.com will get all of the rest of my cable business.

Let's see, I bought mine by "winning" an ebay auction I came across, the price was right and I thought I would roll the dice. They arrived quickly and without all the fancy (expensive) and hard to get open packaging as cables so often do. Upon first look and feel I was very impressed. They have that "High Tech" look using some sort of a braided cover which makes it just about impossible to get it tangled. I am using it as a analog video cable and it performs excellent, great shielding and I cannot detect any signal loss using a six foot length.I recommend anybody looking at cables in this category to seriously consider "Better Cables".

Strength:

Very nice looking, hiqh quality build, great customer service.

Weakness:

Every year for my birthday, I get myself some new toy. I have been building my home theater system for many years now, but have never put much thought into cables. Then I read the review for BetterCables on DVDFile and thought
it might be worth a shot.

Up to that point, I was connecting my Nakamichi CD Player4
to my Onkyo 939 via Monster Interlink 300II RCA cables. I
never did own a digital coax cable, though the Nakamichi
had the necessary output.

Upon hooking this up, the difference was subtle, yet
noticeable:

1) The imaging from my Paradigm Studio 100 V1 speakers
was now more pronounced and focused.

2) Subtle details to the sound I could not hear before were coming through. One of my reference discs is Jonathon Richman's 2nd album ("Rock & Roll with the Modern Lovers" from 1977) and was basically recorded using two mikes and thus, has a very natural sound to it. There are portions where I could now hear distinct breathing, nose sniffles, and feet shuffling across the floor.

3) The bass become a bit more solid. I have a Telarc disc
of an Aaron Copland collection (KUNZEL/CINCINNATI POPS ORCHESTRA) and on the 1st movement of the "Rodeo" suite,
the bass drum was much more crisp and solid.

4) Previously, I noticed that I would "lose" bass when
standing in front of the speakers. It was stronger
when I was in another room. That problem has been
resolved as well.

Overall, I love the difference this cable has brought to
my system. For $45, it is like adding a whole new component
to the mix.

Strength:

Much cleaner bass, and sounds, like tile being shot off the office building columns in the Matrix are more realistic. So that's how exploding marble is supposed to sound like!

Weakness:

The plastic brand-name jackets which enclose the connectors slide off easily, but it's not that big of a problem.

I wanted to find something that would improve my system without getting a whole new system. Believe me, $50 is no big deal, test her out because she won't fake it. I connected my Apex DVD and into my JVC VBK884 using this cable, and now I get an idea of what kind of receiver I want to purchase in the future.

I have no subwoofer, but the floor shakes now. The cable really makes a big difference from the monster and radio shack cables I was using, because somehow the one from bettercables compacts and condenses the sound, reducing and separating individual effects. Comparing the cables, I found that even the monster (which is actually a gold-plated video cable) and the radio shack coaxial cause a kind of synthetic blurring in the sound, a little like hearing your music/sound effects, etc. filtered through a synthesizer.

I compared the two older cables I had with this bettercables digital coaxial for the Matrix, and heard sounds I had never heard before, like the high pitched metallic drop of shell casings, one after another on the marble floor. I also noticed, that since the sound is compacted and more clear in general, that the normal listening volume has to be lowered for dynamic and/or louder sound effects -- it seems that the cable preserves the signal and conserves power so you can get it where you need it most, in the sound itself. The explosions and dynamic sound effects in movies will be louder, yet clearer, (with definately more bass) but I noticed that the speaking volume in the center channel was softer than normal. However, by upping the center channel volume a little helped, this helped the balance out and I was good to go.

Unfortunately, although it improves the performance of the receiver, it also shows the JVC's weaknesses when I turn it up past 60 ... the dreadful hissing that is a fault of the system. Since the sound is quieter and more compact in general, I want to turn it up, but find I can't go too high. I would bet this cable could handle, on a better receiver, higher volumes as cleanly as the lower ones. That makes me excited because I can further imagine what I would like from the future purchase of a receiver. But what do I know? I don't have the terminology down.

I never really liked listening to CD's on my parents' system, but I do now. Bettercables digital coax is truly a sexy cord, because I can hear everything, I can really feel it through the floor (and yes, I did have some crappy cables before, but returned a $30 Monster cable recently that didn't seem to improve performance very much at all). As I said before, this cord doesn't fake anything. It improves my system greatly,as the sound has meat and substance to it, instead of the being a synthetic jumble of unfeeling lava vibrating within my crowded-with-crap livingroom that I can space out to.

Only problem, it took more than a week to arrive at my house.

Smooth, clear, refined. The cable itself is thick and well shielded.

This review is for the ULTRA Digital Coax. This cable is absolutely great. My first experience with BetterCables' digital cables was the original Premium Digital Coax cable. I replaced my Monster M1000D digital coax cable with the Premium Coax from BetterCables and noticed that I got my moneys worth. The BetterCables was more clear and smooth than the Monster. The regular coax from BetterCables is already a MUCH better value than the Monster M1000D. But recently I replaced my Premium Digital Coax with the newer ULTRA Digital Coax cable. The improvments were very slight. The treble is slightly less bright. Both digital coax cables from BetterCables are truly excellent. I would recommend any of BetterCables' cables to anyone.

I heard about BetterCables through AudioReview and since everyone was raving about them, I thought I'd check them out. I made the right choice. I bought the regular (not Ultra) version of the digital coax SPDIF cable so I could hook my computer up to my reciever (the sound card has an SPDIF out). Not only does it sound great, but the cables have a feel and heft to them that is real quality. I'd recommend them in an instant!

This review is for Ultra Digital Audio cable (1 meter). I connected it between my Pioneer DV-414 DVD player and the Musical Fidelity X-24K DAC. I was very suprised to hear it performed so well as the expensive high-end digital cables which were twice or many times its price. The sound was warm, smooth and detailed and which were very pleasant to listen for long period without any fatigue. The clarity is well presented in the mid and high frequency. Build quality is excellent and so is Brad Marcus's customer service. I am very happy with this cable and enjoyed it very much. Anyone looking for great performing cables without high-end prices should give it a try.
