Strength:
Very musical, built like a tank, quite affordable. Love the converters and digital output. Excellent sound for the price. I'm hearing parts of my discs I never knew existed.
Weakness:
Long break-in time. Remote is easy to use but not on par with the quality of the unit itself. I purchased the CD 6000 OSE after reading reviews on this site as well as in audiophile magazines. I wanted a high quality single disc unit without breaking the bank, and I believe that is exactly what I got. I just bought it last week, so maybe I should submit another review after a few months. Apparently the break-in stories are true...mine sounds much better than when I first got it out of the box, and I was greatly impressed from the start. I'm running the OSE through a DENON PMA 520 integrated amp and have a Boston Acoustics Substat 7 speaker system. We enjoy all types of music and have found the Marantz to be most comfortable with all but the most intense hard stuff, and I can't decide if the problem there is coming from the limitations of the recording or the cd player itself.....probably the recording. And now for another positive - if you have a mini disc recorder or CD recordable deck this unit will really shine! I'm going to have to re-record all my MDs! Strength:
Solid build, great dynamics, fine performance.
Weakness:
Remote is a bit of plastic! Remote system isn't compatible with 'all in one' remotes. This CD Player has had a few knocks. There's nothing wrong with it, nothing major, but it is very fussy on what you pair it with. |

Musical, smooth, airy, value for money and smart looking. The remote is great too. By far the best all rounder I have tried. As a bonus, I managed to pick this up at £280. Have been very happy with the purchase. Highly recommended!! Similar Products Used: NAD, Rotel, Arcam, Denon |

Strength:
Musical
Weakness:
not good for rock, dance music this player sounds very good, but when you listen to some well recorded Smashing Pumpkins or Metallica it lacks drive and dynamics. Drums fail to have the required impact and it sounds a bit disappointing. Good with other genres of music though. Similar Products Used: Arcam 7SE, Sony, NAD, Creek |

Strength:
Very solid, natural sound with excellent detail and imaging
Weakness:
To correct/natural for thrash metal or techno stuff... Not immediately as 'exciting' as the Arcam Alpha 7SE, but prolonged listening shows the CD-6000 OSE's strengths... Similar Products Used: Arcam 7SE, Yamaha ??, Marantz CD67 |

Strength:
Superb imaging and pure sound
Weakness:
Track access problems, difficult with CDRs The first of these I bought sounded superb and had me racing through my CD collection to play all my old favourites. Apart from the general sound quality, which was beautifully pure, I was stunned by just how loud it would go without distortion. The bass control on my transmission line loudspeakers, which show up flabby bass with a vengeance, was excellent However, on some cds, it refused to access some tracks when their number was selected directly, displaying Error on the front panel and locking up the unit. It would play through the same tracks if started from the previous track, so I sent it back. The replacement was ok on the cds that were a problem before but the sound was nowhere near as good - the bass sounded rolled off and the treble harsh and fatiguing. What a disappointment! When another cd turned up with track access problems, that was it - I couldn't go on replacing units and it went back - I got an Arcam 7SE instead. Similar Products Used: Arcam 7SE |

Strength:
Sounds fantastic, even with dance/rock despite what others have said. Never gets boring even after a couple of hours listening
Weakness:
none I am biased after getting the thing half price! But even so it sounds great, I have a really wide range of musical tastes in my CD collection and they all sound fantastic. Mainly the critisisms seem to be on CDR playback but if you just want to play normal CDs its the one to go for sounds fantastic, excellent bass and vocals even through my AV amp. Strength:
Very much detail, natural, a joy to listen to
Weakness:
Display not very clear A very good machine indeed. It causes a total reevaluation of my CD collection. The detail and clearity makes shows mercyless every recording or production-error of the CD's. Similar Products Used: Marantz CD 65 |
