Strength:

Cheap! Cheap! Cheap! besides being cheap its multizone and very light in weight

Weakness:

no MP3 playback

I think you people are being too stricts with this lil dvd player that's only 100 bucks worth but many hours o'fun, i bought this dvd player in order to see my collection od dvd's and up to this day, i have seen it work just fine, it is connected to a Sony Mezzo System and even the surround works fine, i think you should try to be a little more flexible with this player, after all it is very cheap and worth the chance, if you want a dvd player that will never ever fail, buy one of those thar are 600 bucks, after all i like this thing and the multiregion hack is a plus.

Very small and lightweight, nice color,It worked occasionaly and It was free (hallelujah)!!!! ...Thats about it!

Weakness:

One that comes to mind is that "crapitron" should have built this "DVD player wannabe" with velcro instead of screws that way I could have rescued my dvd much faster when it got stuck in this piece of @#*& !!!

It sucks!! Need I say more?!

Strength:

Weakness:

doesn't work

i bought this dvd player as a second player for the bedroom, i used it for 3 months very lightly, it no longer recogonizes or plays dvd's ...so it's been sitting in a closet for the rest of the time waiting to be fixed...although after reading these reviews i might as well chuck it in the trash. what a disappointment! Needless to say i've learned my lesson about getting what you pay for.

Strength:

Lightweight (which made it easier to toss in the trash.

Weakness:

About every other day I had to unplug it to reset it and to get my DVD's out of the damn thing, and the fact that it died after only 4 months of LIGHT use.

Well after only using it for a few months it stopped recognizing any disks that were put into it. After not being able to get it to work I emailed Oritron to find out about there warranties and what to do to fix it. They suggested the same thing I had been doing since I bought it which was to unplug it for a little bit to reset it. Then when I emailed them back to let them know that it still didn't work, they said that I could buy a new one from them (the same crap model) for $70. Needless to say there would be no need to spend more money on something that is going to die in another few months. My advice spend the extra money. You get what you pay for.

Strength:

Low Cost

Weakness:

Just now starting to act up.

I have read all of the reviews thus far. My unit just started to display green and red squares on the screen and the system status icons on the screen are very faint. I called KOSS "headphone" company and they said this unit was put out by KOSS Electronics a totally separate company. They gave me a phone number of (800)726-3801. I have tried the number several times - but get a "all circuits busy at this time". I wonder why that is? It seems as though they have also pulled there website. I know I get what I pay for - but at least I would like to have the option of getting it repaired - not paying for another one of their units as a resolve. I think there ought to be a class action suite.

while i have never actually owned this player, I used to sell them when i worked at tower. My question is why would anyone with an extensive dvd collection (over 15 is alot when you think about how much money that is) buy a player for 100 bucks? i can understand if you are just entering the field, but even still, remember, you get what you pay for, and if you have never heard of the brand, unless its at a hi end store and the piece is expensive, you should know better. Shame on you for buying this product.

Should be listed on box

While never having used this product personally, what I can tell you is that Costco refuses to stock this item any longer due to high returns and lack of support from issuing manufacturer. Everyone who bought this item has brought it back sooner or later. Spend $20 more and get a payer that works. Save yourself the headache.

Strength:

EXCELLENT example of what home theater should NOT be!

Weakness:

poor function, construction

It happens every time a new technology comes out. Some unknown company has to cash in on the latest electronics craze and in so doing they do consumers a HUGE disservice, and also perhaps other companies who have spent MILLIONS in R&D by souring these consumers to new technologies with inferior products that function just as poorly as they are conceived designed and marketed. I took one look at the Oritron and was immediately appalled any company could have the temerity to sell this product to anyone. Judging by its price, I believe this product is aimed at impulse buyers. Anyone unfortunate enough to purchase WORTHLESS CRAP like this from low-brow discounts or other less-than-gleaming bulk sales outlets is sure to be disappointed. I am an avid bicyclist and Oritron versus Nationally Recognized Name Brand is analogous to department store bike versus Bianchi Mondiale -- not even a close match. I can get better pictures out of a vintage Mitsubishi HSU-400 VCR, and CERTAINLY much better out of my current JVC DVD unit. Everything about this product suggests cheap, in every essence of its WORST connotation. As for my primary concerns regarding this product, construction quality is third-rate and the picture quality is sorely deficient when compared to the unit I eventually bought. Loading time is another sore point. I could very easily grow very old waiting for even the most lightly loaded DVD to load. I'm tempted to believe that as much cheap plastic as is used in this product, on a warm summer day, i'd find a puddle of petroleum goo melted all over my cabinet if I bought this player. Save Oritron from themselves and you from them by refusing to buy into this cheap piece of useless crap! Saving a little money in the beginning is worth nothing if you own a piece of junk. This is true for anything you buy. I'd suggest you let go of a few more dollars and get something with better reputation and recognition in the retail market. There are PLENTY of sufficiently good DVD players for less than $200 (JVC, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony, all good brand names for example). The DVD player market is hot right now, with sales now eclipsing those of VCRs and prices are near those of good VCR units. I don't believe its rating or performance even merits 1 star, perhaps 0 stars for both categories would be more accurately indicative. Junk like this ought to be BANNED! Only those sincerely interested in throwing their money away should buy this. Otherwise they should not.
